Just started my running journey at 43 years old. I have to admit I don’t know why it took me so long. The running community is so welcoming and supportive. I’ve got the Edinburgh half marathon in May in my sights then work my way up to a full marathon 🏃👟😰

Good half marathon course. Hope you ace it.
@CardboardGenie10 ай бұрын
There is no shame in not building up to a marathon if after the half you feel like a marathon is too much or it's hard to fit the training needed for one in your daily life. I've been doing Track & Field and Running for 24 years and my furthest distance I raced is a 15k. It doesn't always need to go further, sometimes faster than before is also an amazing goal to get to. Just putting that out there as one of the main reactions I get when people heard I've been running for that long, is confusion as to why I've not run a marathon yet. As if you always need to go further until you do a marathon instead of focusing on beating your PB's.

Sarah, I hope you realize how much of an inspiration you are for thousands of us. I’ve somehow been able to work my way up to half marathons over the last couple of years. Your channel and presenters made me realize I could do it. I’m going to attempt the full Melbourne marathon in October at the age of 52. At the moment it feels impossible after coming back from spine surgery late last year and being unable to run for 3 months. It’s been a very long and painful come back to running but your channel has kept me motivated. Thank you so much.

I would like to thank TRC for all the motivation and knowledge. Three months ago, I started exercising again after a very long period of sedentary life due to my studies. End of December, I could barely run 5K for the first time, feeling I would faint in the end and it took me about 1h10m to complete. Yesterday, I ran my first competition, improving my 10K PB by 5m40s, achieving a time of 1h01m. That might sound slow to most here, but it’s the faster I’ve ever run such a distance. Before finding TRC, there was so much stuff I didn‘t know; recovery runs, training plans, gear (especially which shoes, since I started training at about 15kg heavier than I am now), and much more. So, THANK YOU for what you do, please keep on sharing. Love to all the team ❤
