When you do work for bigger companies, it's good practice (and payment incentive) to offer Net 10 1%/30 terms. What that means is that if they pay within 10 days of being invoiced, they get 1% off the total bill. It doesn't seem like much, but it can make a big difference when you're getting paid within like a week instead of having to cover your overhead for 30-60 days.

3D modeling can be hardest thing to overcome especially if computers are not your thing, i would recommend drawing or describing what you have best as possible, then take it to engineer/3d modeler, they need to be both with a understanding of 3d printing, then you can have them make the files so you can print it. We can do that or find a local person/company that can help :) Might also be good to talk to a product consultant or something related to the invention to make sure its not already out there/a good selling idea before you put to much energy/money into it.

4:30 about the customers that want things done earlier, ivé picked that info up somwhere. Under promise and over deliver. So for a print that takes 1-2 Days, you tell them beforhand that your regular production time is 3-5 Days. In the end you Contact them earlier and tell them their Product is produced. This way you got a safety cushion with your Orders. About Designing, if people want things modeled faster. they would have to pay on top, to move up the Order que with an Express Order. I´m have no Buinsess, so i can´t tell if this is a good strategy or not, but thought it be good to share that thought with you.

Get a hood or something for the scanner. Just the stray light from the laser can do eye damage and even if it’s minimal, there is a good chance that you and your employees could get noticeable damage in the long term.

This was my thought. Those types of lasers are dangerous just to look at.

We have moved the small laser and setup the others in ways that dont come in contact with the eyes. Most likely in the future ill be getting a professional 5-8k laser cutter. If you need jobs I highly recommend local networking groups and give as many little prints like a flexy octopus away to as many people as you can. They will remember and the marketing will carry far and wide!

@@cdert90 still watching the rest of the video yet lol but yeah, the resin I'm careful with. It's all kept separate and I'm always wearing gloves and such when I handle the resin. Currently I'm selling on Etsy, I do have my own website and own the domain and I'm trying to transition people over to that but it doesn't get as much traffic as I would like. When you say networking groups, what are you referring to? Cause that's the first time that I've heard that before.
@3DPrintsEverything2 жыл бұрын
So you can google your city and state name and "networking" and you will find events where other business owners meetup and just get to know each other. Generally they are full of roofers, people selling makeup/skin care, insurance and other businesses so when a 3d printer goes to them and brings items its easy to steal the show! Bring a give away item and have something new each time you go and it will help. Also chamber of commerce is generally run by the city for business owners to network. Some will be free some will cost a little each time/month. Ill do a video specifically on this soon!

You mentioned having "print fails" in your new place. In your video of your maker space, it's very 'open' and you might be having airflow/heating fluctuations due to the windows, proximity to them, time of year, etc. that could cause thermal issues for your prints. Just a thought.
@3DPrintsEverything2 жыл бұрын
Before this was all setup in a garage with a single ac and some times I could notice the air causing the issues. The shelf actually doesnt get much airflow and when most of them are running it keeps a nice temp together as there is no venting to the back of the shelf or side so it all vents to the front and up, Most of the time its just related to stock bed being a little warn in or the part just being a particular part that like to peel/warp. The snake was warping quite often but other prints work fine over and over again. Linked snake is just a tricky one!

There's really no reason why you should have to spend time chasing down customers that don't pay or want to wait weeks or months to pay. Just simply do like any other business and charge up front. If they don't want to pay up front then they are probably a dangerous customer. "Invoicing" is a zero dollar per hour job.
@3DPrintsEverything2 жыл бұрын
I 100% agree. But some very large companies do have a net 30 or 45 where they issue a PO (purchase order) for parts and expect them made and delivered and after delivery they pay 30-45 days later. Generally companies like this dont argue, haggle, care about price, so you can upcharge a little more than other one off jobs.

Be sure to check licenses before selling prints. Dont end up getting nailed as a pirate like me. Remember designing at home and printing at home dont automaticly give you the right to sell that print. Dont just print what your asked to withoutvlicense checks. Pricing is mostly in license checks cause thats the biggest job. The entire industry being diwn for the last year has been a pain in the neck. Im sure you know no sites anywhere are yet to resume business services meaning nobody can buy nor sell there invention ownership. Im sure you know all that but im posting for uninfirmed newbs. If someine brings you a model to design dont mean you have the right ti sell them a copy of that print. You must check licenses first. If yiu dont know that youd better learn real fast befire you get busted. A person can request a licensed thing and if you sell them a copy they could bust you. But im sure you know this. Cnc has the same licensing as 3d prints. Im going to subscrib to you. Im also going to be watching for any of my prints being sold and royalties being paid. Im going to post you a link to my license sales vid as i get the feeling you should watch it.

Sure thing. I haven't encountered any jobs that led to me getting any C&D letters or anything. Looking back there were definitely a couple jobs that might have if some lawyer had woke up on the right side of the bed and wanted come after me. All of my business is service based where people request things so even if a job was done outside of license it would be a lot harder for others to find it as im not advertising anything for sale anywhere. That said im never going to intentionally break the law or copy some one elses hard work just to profit on my end. Thanks for the sub!

I had one customer that kept changing the order and i asked for too little since it was a friend and a bulk order. eventually i lost interest in completing the order. i finish the model and then they asked for more to be added to it increasing the complexity every time. on top of that they wanted 100 of them to start selling. i did a quick start print run of 15 and after the last "i need this added to it now" i just cant get myself to work on it without feeling like i need to go for a jog instead. i hate when i get the feeling like i need to physically run away from the project. I'm fast at modeling but i loose interest if i work on something too much and have frustration with it. that's why i stopped doing game development its just too much to do solo.
@3DPrintsEverything Жыл бұрын
Yeah if they keep changing the job at some point you need to charge more for modeling. Money greases wheel even for friends. Even with my friends I have to just charge them a standard rate and maybe discount it a little bit but there is no "doing it at cost" as at cost raises the majority of complex job raw cost so it becomes easy to get upside down on jobs.

be careful with the resin printers you need a clean room setup, PPE, (personal protective equipment) and never to let raw resin touch your skin as well as well ventilated area to work in. You can get this remote scanned on Revo or Shining scanner which are both under 1000usd ( I have them). So the statement on "under 1000-2000usd is not a good scanner" is kinda wrong. Especially if you have 5k thor scanner and you still can't scan it.

Great video. Thanks for your honesty about the struggles setting this up. How do you quote your prints? By hand or is there some type of built in quoting software on your site?
@3DPrintsEverything2 жыл бұрын
By hand every time. the auto quoters generally are 5-100X high in pricing. Just charge 6$ a print hour. Most printers I have are .3 layer height with a .6 nozzle for best spee/strength options

How much do you charge to make 3D models? I currently own my own business and do my own modeling but I don't know how to price the models I make. I spend 2-3 hours on the models so what should I charge?
@3DPrintsEverything2 жыл бұрын
20-40+ a hour. a great modeler who is busy charges north of 100-150+ a hour.

Is there any future in using Resin printers for a business? I have $1,000 for my first 3D 🖨 printer Don't know if I should get a Resin Printer or PLA to learn. I would like a Resin printer for art/hobbies, but seems like PLA printers are the ones being used for business. Should I use the money to jump start a business with PLA or RESIN? I've seen people come up with stronger Resin materials this year. I'm looking at the Anycubic M3 MAX. Or something like the Ankermake printer

One of your videos came up on my KZbin feed today. It’s good to see someone doing content that is not just reviews of gear sent to them for free. I see the KP5M on the Kingroon website is available to order. Do you think they are going to be the next standard you will be buying/selling. Speaking of selling, do you source your printer stock direct from Kingroon or through a distributor?
@3DPrintsEverything2 жыл бұрын
I get them directly from kingroon. Joan is my contact. I get all the new digs on the new changes too.
