I use a polisher with a bottle brush but I would not do it inside that garage Outside away from everything. Brush on the stripper let it set for a few minutes then rinse it with water and dry it off. then use a woven bottle brush and a polisher THen recoat with stripper. after that the scratches in the paint allow the stripper to penetrate and the next time it is about bare metal. Does not scratch the metal below either. only removes the paint and leaves nice clean metal below. Then sand off the remaining paint with a da. Done I can do a whole car in 4 to 5 hours. complete. and I am talking 5 to 6 layers of paint. in one shot.

Thanks Mike. What is a woven bottle brush? I googled it with no luck.

@@RatsnestHotrods it is actually called a twisted cup brush Harbor freight has them they work wonders. you can strip anything in seconds. they have a set of them I also use them to strip wheels. Does not damage the metal at all. just removes the paint in seconds.

In 2017 at the home improvement stores, I notice the price started going up, yet a milder stripper for varnish from the same company was being offered. It was an “Ouut-Ohh” moment. I bought a gallon almost every week then started getting two. I saved about $100 as the price kept going up. But I am doing an older truck that is painted inside. I think the cost to produce “Methylene Chloride” was being phased out or the concentration was going down, if you read the cans. I learned a lesson a dozen years ago with a 6 gallon metal bucket of 5 gallons of “CRC” carb cleaner. It finally ate the bucket. I got 4 O-ring seal 5 gallon buckets for free at a fast food placed, just asked the manager. I poured every can I purchased into the pails, a little glue to hold gasket still and a 2 X 4 and hammer is my stash, after a hammer was used to seal the lid. Others had said that a layer of wax covers the top, but the plastic speaks for itself. I do like your air-supply helmet I hope has an activated carbon filter. It is very mobile on your belt so battery & fan must be part of the assembly. Good for you. The government is taking away our freedoms little by little. Less good chemical, more expensive and less effective. I got tired just watching you work that stripper. Wow. I was watching to know what some use to neutralize the final wash. I feel like you...”Put water on metal”. Ok, but air dry it and 80 grit the entire surface, if you can still walk. Nice project, nice video. Hit like and subscribed already. Blessings as that two step ladder is killer on your legs too. Thanks!

Nobody asked me but if you did I'd say use the real Rust Oleum "Aircraft Remover", that guy worked too hard with that "Master Pro" stuff. For those who can't read, don't use the stuff on fiberglass unless you want to wonder where your hood went.

That plastic works great. I'm just about ready to paint my 1969 AMC AMX 390 GO PACK CAR. Do you suggest putting go pack stripes on top of the clearcoat? Would they mess up the clearcoat if I put them under the clearcoat? I watched a old film of assembly line and they put all stripes as last step in process. Thanks, Neal good work

I restore classic semi trucks. Always working with aluminum with tons of rivets. I try to rough the river surface with a soft bristle drill attachment. Of course we deal with countless layers of paint as well. I will try the plastic truck on my 65 Peterbilt today. FYI do not use Aircraft Stripper on anything fiberglass!!!

Wondering how long you estimate it took for all the steps you took to strip the entire car? I have a 1970 Impala that's probably similar in size. Deciding if it worth doing myself or paying a pro shop to strip it.

Man I hate the mess that crap makes but I use it because it works and it beats sanding. I use glass bead in my cabinet. It works great on everything. I wouldn’t want that in my garage though. I have a wet sump vac hooked up to my cabinet and a bead or two somehow always ends up in between my teeth and makes a nice crunch sound.. you know what I mean?

@RatsnestHotrods
@RatsnestHotrods 6 жыл бұрын
Hey A Alvarez! Thanks for watching! No it didn't have any affect on the tape. The only thing I would be concerned with is some seeping under the tape. I didn't have that problem though. Just use automotive paint grade tape like I did. Good luck!
