I was going to say the SAME thing!! Is it a flat surface? Then it should be covered in stuff, right? ;) This app sounds amazing, and I'm going to let my kids try it as well for their responsibilities around the house!

I find it helps not to do a room at a time, but to do the same task across lots of rooms at once, so instead of cleaning a whole room and having to deal with all the varied tasks, then move onto another room and do the same, you can for instance just do the dusting in every room on one day. Then next day clean all the sinks in the house, do all the washing on one day, and so on. it keeps it really simple, you have all the stuff in your hand already, so you can maintain the flow from room to room. Then you can pick a particular week day to do any 'unusual' tasks (things that are irregular/variable/exceptional), like cleaning the windows, or polishing glass ornaments. For things that have to be done every day, like dishes, picking up toys, or feeding animals, set a particular time of day and just stick to that every day. It takes all the thinking out of it. I also prefer to tidy throughout one day, then start cleaning tasks the next. Grouping it this way is much easier than remembering all the things for each room across multiple rooms. You can then just put away bits throughout the week but not obsess over it as you know you have a defined tidying day. I'm not perfect at it and my energy/ motivation levels vary, but I do think grouping tasks and things appropriately is the best way to manage adhd and remove all the details that we get bogged down in.

I am very much the same when I clean. I go around my whole house with one cleaning product, do that in each room, then switch product or task. Much less overwhelming to me.

An unexpected thing that I find actually helps me is watching decluttering videos. It’s satisfying to watch and sorta gamifies it, and importantly, seeing how quickly people in the videos do a task makes it look less daunting to me so it gives me a temporary boost of motivation to do tasks.

This is exactly what I needed to keep my apartment together. It's helped me manage my only cleaning my apartment, but other parts of my life too. For example, I added a "room" called Self Care, and it's just basic stuff to do every day or every other day that I tend to forgot. Showers, brushing teeth, eat breakfast. It's great!!

I just work w my brain, don't fight against it. We ADHD-rs are just not motivated to clean. But shaming work for us very well as well as deadliness ! I invite a bunch of friends on a certain day and then get up at 4 AM and clean the whole thing in a few hours. In a hurry. I do the same w my upkeep, I can't be bothered to wash my hair. So I schedule at least 1 date. On the DAY OF, I wash my hair and wax.

This app is almost perfect. I made my own system based on effort being green amber or pink because red made me anxious and avoid difficult tasks so I made them my fave colour. Decluttering was the No 1 thing that enabled me to take control of my house/executive functioning. It is less overwhelming with less items to manage. I think it was pain/hoarding that originally snapped my out of hyper focused cleaning. I physically couldn’t do it. I personally like routine, it stops me hyper focusing on the whole house and I give myself permission not to clean everything because it’s not ‘the day’. But when I have been ill/shutdown/exhausted from pain or meltdowns I do a ‘what is annoying me the most right now’ list and do the next most anxiety provoking mess so I can regain my calm. If someone happens to be coming over then I do a version of the clutter bugs dirty 30 routine but focus only on the rooms they will see. Collect rubbish up, pick up mess, put items that don’t belong in a tote, surface clean/hoover then move to next room and empty tote as I go along.

I'm still trying to organise my home since I moved in 14 years ago. I've read countless organising books, watch endless videos and made numerous lists and plans, but somehow could never manage to translate all that knowledge into action. Discovering I had ADHD and autism answered so many questions for me and I no longer beat myself up for not being able to do it. And it's a great relief not to keep pushing and thinking "I just need to try harder".

This is a common ADHD struggle - basically we need to INVENTORY THINGS DAILY. And if we don't we will forget what we have. So instead of CLEANING (weekly, whatever) I inventory a different part of my room. Just my room. The house is too big and overwhelming! Anyways, by doing a thing like Inventory - pulling everything out and catogorizing it by alphabet, color, category, WHATEVER- it fixed that part of my brain that was very disorganized. Now people think I'm OCD for having to do it, but it became a NEED. Try it!!! You will see how good it makes you feel!

Another tip. Divide any of your chore in an even amount of 3. Like let's say you have a house - count the rooms, divide them by 3. And only commit to do 3 of anything for a day. Or even take just 3 small chores and do them. If writing a book, write just 3 chapters. For some reason my ADHD brain loves number 3. if you finish 3, have a snack(short 1 hr break), and go for 3 more! Become the THREE-QUEEN!!

My dining table looks the exactly same, and my coffee table, and many other surfaces too. The flotsam and jetsam of life is quite annoying. I often resort to throwing things into junk drawers which is often just delaying figuring out what to do with stuff. I am exactly the same as far as coping strategies before and after having kids. I'm still working on the after! I just don't know what my goals are. I guess a livable space would be reasonable. I just find I have a lot of feelings and associations tied to mess and cleanliness both. There's more than executive functioning to work through, there's some major stress and emotion too as well as the negotiation with family members for contribution. It's not easy.

Ok. I don’t know what to say, other than I feel seen. I didn’t know that cleaning hyper-focus was a thing. I always thought I had some weird obsessive behavior related to cleaning. For example, cleaning the bathroom could take me 3 hours of obsessive cleaning, going into every detail, not being able to stop. My brother once grabbed me from my shoulders and took me out of the kitchen at like 3 am after I’ve been cleaning the stove for hours. I only cleaned like this because if I start I can’t stop, so I needed to big chunk of time. And then I had a child while working full time. No more big chunks of time, so I had to somehow learn to clean in smaller increments. I have to keep telling myself that it’s ok to just clean the sink and not the whole bathroom. Before I wouldn’t even clean the sink if I didn’t have 3 hours to spend on cleaning. Wow. Thanks for the video!

Thank you! I struggle with this a lot cos I get overwhelmed very easily and have trouble with anything other than "Clean every piece of everything there is, and make sure you finish it all today" (0 or 100) That doesn't help, so I end up shutting down but then things get more chaotic and I get even more overwhelmed. I always have to make a check list of each task but then you end up with a front and back page full of checkboxes that seem incredibly daunting. This has been really stressing me out, especially the last few days, so this video came at the perfect time. Thanks! 😁 Going to download the app now.

I recently started on vyvanse, and it helps me not get too overwhelmed of all the tasks. However, I still focus on nitty gritty details. So my boyfriend and I have separated the cleaning tasks such that he does the "general" cleaning in the house, and I sort out and deep clean a specific area.

How can I only have a one day a week vacuum schedule with a toddler and dog that bring dirt inside in copious amounts. It's so hard because the house is never in a 'clean state' it's a constant work in progress and I hate it. There is NO GRATIFICATION. Cleaning schedules just don't work for me. I seriously appreciate your perspective as a Mum with ADHD. I am so tired of needing a hyperfocus RAGE CLEAN (with a few choice swear words under my breath loudly) to get anything done. I live with whatever the opposite of a 'detail oriented person' is. He literally doesn't see mess, which is actually far more infuriating than doing it on purpose. It's the equivalent of getting mad at someone who is blind for not being able to see.

I am researching ways of helping my son, who may be autistic, but your videos are showing me insights that really sound like myself and some of the ways I've always ended up coping with things, even recently. This hyperfocus situation, I know I do react to work tasks like that, and it has just cost me my electrical apprenticeship placement, and it may be affecting my household and living standards. At 35 years old now, I'm beginning to wonder if my friends and family have been pretty lenient with me, and never really made me assess my own behavior. :-/ I hope I can help my son and understand him better through more research and listening to more of your videos. I had been using Habitica but muddling personal, studying, and cleaning just wasn't working for me. I have school aged kids and I really like that you can set this up where they can help with the household to-do list too. I really like the bar on each task showing how recently it was done so that clues me in that I don't need to pay attention to the thing right now. It looks like once it's set up and fine-tuned it will take a lot of the thinking out of when and how often to do something which is what I need. Thank you for this video!

Love your videos SO much. So relatable and so funny too :) I learned the same thing thing after having kids as well. Hyper focus can be amazing to use for cleaning productivity, but not when little people need you. Was so frustrated trying to figure out a way to balance it all and force myself to do tiny tasks here, there and everywhere when I had the chance/motivation to do so instead of hyper focusing. It still bothers me that I can’t just go crazy and clean everything when I get the urge, but trying to balance tasks more means I’m more present with my kids and that’s huge. Keep up the fantastic content :)

I found the app on my own and MAN where was this when I was in college. Every time I settle down to clean I kinda get in this overwhelmed fog bc I keep seeing things I should be doing but I keep bouncing around/getting distracted (you have no idea how many times I got yelled at for not realizing I sat down and started watching tv). I would go s o slow, cleaning my room was a day long endeavor. Having the tasks in each room listed out with the degradation system is SUPER helpful bc I also don’t realize when was the last time I cleaned something and I know exactly which things to tackle and I go so much faster. And the green bar is super satisfying 😄

Thanks Sam, that's a great find! I'm always on a mission to declutter as I collect things for "projects" so this might be great to help with my personal annual challenge of getting rid of 365 things in a year. I'll have a look!

Thanks for sharing this app. Looks really helpful and I will try it out. (Maybe starting next month because beginning of March there will come someone who evaluates how much help I need and the person helping me right now said if it's too tidy they will probably deny any help at all... even if my Doc and the person helping me right now think I need it. That one person at that one day will decide if I will get the help further on or not... *sigh*) And thank you for mentioning that you reached out to them and not the other way around. While I think you wouldn't share something you don't stand behind even if it was the other way around... It feels nice to know that you tested the app, liked it and then asked for a sponsorship (and they accepted!) :D

I didn’t realise that my lifelong struggles with keeping my house clean and tidy had anything to do with autism. I thought I was just deficient in some way especially as “most” mums seemed so much more organised than me! I also see exactly everything that needs doing and so it is just overwhelming. I loved how you describe the “clean the bathroom “ as being a huge deal….and it is certainly the thought processes and struggles there that put me off starting. I have 4 children and so cleaning and tidying has pretty much felt overwhelming since my second was born! So this is a long way to explain that I will try that app. ❤ I listened to your video on ADHD and im pretty certain I have that combination….like you I can be chatty and almost run on a Duracell battery and then just need complete silence at other times. Your video gave me some soothing in that Im not the only one with a slightly strange combination of symptoms! Thanks for sharing your experiences . X

I was looking for tips to clean with adhd because my home is drowning in chaos and it's really not helping mental health! Fingers crossed this works for me as well as it does many others here, even just a little bit. Thank you for the recommendation! I also appreciate you showing some of your own irl chaos as it did make me feel a lot better about my own 😅

Thank you for sharing about this app, I’m gonna give it a try. I might’ve screamed a couple times because the extra sound effects really startled me. I’m listening while out for a walk, and I found the extra sound effects and noises in the video really overwhelming. But I really need help with figuring out how to manage with my lack of executive functioning so I really appreciated the information. Thank you

There are very large areas in my spaces that I do not see, and I'm not just talking about the cuts in my visual field. I willfully do not see them so as to avoid the great anxiety and grief associated with them - and they are often piled on other things. To set up this app, I would need to be looking at so incredibly much - and we haven't lived in this apartment for a full 2 years yet - my room at home is nightmarish. So, I'm nor sure I could use this, and I will still share it with people (not facebook - can't handle that).

Maybe try with a few tasks in areas you're comfortable with and slowly add in some of the areas that cause you anxiety? I totally get you though, sometimes even just making the to do list trips me out

This was a great video. I was a little hesitant when I realized you were promoting an app, but I'm glad I stuck around. I am a very organized messy person. I like to organize information and tools(my tools are a disaster right now, so i feel like a liar) , but when it comes to cleaning/ tidying up, I do very poorly... Just remembered I needed to wash my truck today, but its too late now...

My system is something like this: 1. Identify task and make a list 2. Set amount of time to complete task. 3. Set a countdown timer and start task. 4. Tick off task in list.

Thank you for this video. I'd never heard of this app but I've tried several others. The thing that sold me on this one is "vacation mode". I'm bilocational and every 3rd week, I'm in a completely different town with a completely different schedule. In other apps I had to just ignore or turn off all those daily reminders every time I changed towns and changed back. This just has "vacation mode" where I can shut off all the reminders for when I'm home and just use a note-taking app for what I need to get done the one week I'm away. TYSM for sharing this app and your experience!

The app so far is brilliant! With the premium version I can add my family member (at no extra cost) and I can even assign them tasks. This just took delagating tasks to a new level! :) And myself and my kids included get the benifit of seeing how many tasks completed each day. :) Love the simplicity and gamification aspects. And especially that the tasks "decay" which give a real visual of how "urgent" each task is. :) Reduces overwhelm as you can set up as many individual tasks per room as you want. so much easier to do one little task, than get overwhelmed with where to start or don't have energy to "clean bathroom".
