Thanks for the informative video. With this app and the help of your video, I am finally starting to branch out of my “tried and true” spots and beginning to explore new areas.

Thanks just got on onxmaps your info is short and to the point! I use a Garmin 6s need to know how to move waypoints from onx to my chip not very familiar with that and Don,t want to destroy my new state map
@deplorabletm41895 жыл бұрын
I use a Garmin. I was able to export my waypoints, tracks, etc.. from Garmin software and then import into onX and vice versa. I have the onx chip and updated it, but honestly downloading a map as this video explains and going into airplane mode works great and its easier to use and mark on the phone that it is on the Garmin. I stopped carrying my Garmin in the field.

In this video you turned on Airplane Mode, then selected the "Off-Grid" tab, then further selected the specific map for the area you were discussing. Can you tell me whether your saved maps would have automatically appeared if you simply had lost cell service? Put another way, do you need to select "Off-Grid" mode in order to access your saved maps, or will they automatically support the map if you are hiking and using "Tracker" mode? I live in Southeast Alaska and have downloaded dozens of maps covering the areas I expect to travel over the course of the year, but finding the right "Off-Grid" saved map seems like an incredible pain, especially since many of the areas I access had to be downloaded in multiple segments. Thanks for your guidance and video.

llacubos just label the maps you can change the name. Ours are are labeled while saved so you know what to pick. Name them so you know what they are

Love this app as well. Something I can't figure out, is there a way to share your location OFFLINE with your hunting partner? I am doing my first Colorado Elk hunt this year, and there may be times where him and I are several hundred yards away from each other, and we want to keep track of each other. Where we are hunting GPS works decent, but cell service doesn't. Thanks.
@DIYHunter4 жыл бұрын
Tyler Babs negative. You’ve gotta have some sorta signal they don’t work like walkie talkies with one another they’ve gotta transmit data if you do that
@pewpewkachew47353 жыл бұрын
if you both get your HAM license you can use APRS to see where each of you are. You would need the license, a uv5r and a burner android phone. Its really the only option to do what you are looking for without cell service.

Thanks for the video, was this the free version? Let me rephrase my question do I have to pay for subscription to download a map and use GPS on it while on airplane mode?
@DIYHunter6 жыл бұрын
i beleive they do a free trial but its only 7 day free trial. But then yes, they make a single state version for maybe 20 bucks and a lower 48 state version for 100. We have been told by a lot how much that is etc, but if you do any hunting in places or any public id honestly pay 5 times that to save courthouse maps and phone calls etc. hope this helps

How long did it take to download the one 10mile radius map? I have full service and I’m on WiFi. I waited over 30 minutes and my map didn’t download. Something must be messed up.

Do you have to put it in airplane mode with the app open or will it work the same when you lose cell signal?

Ronnie Bartnicki you go into off grid mode on the app. You just need to make sure you’ve save everything when you had service first

Caution. This has left me in the dark a few times. By the time I needed it, the offline maps Do Not load because of some bullshit bug. I got back into service 3 days later and got signal, reloaded maps and it worked. Next season the same thing happened! This is a toy for hunting private lands. If you hunt big game 10 miles from roads or civilization, get a real GPS. This toy will let you down.

Msuhunter Spartan we’ve hunted literally over 35-40 days without service out west not even with phones on. Airplane mode. Dead accurate. It doesnt even needs to use service at all to work so you’ve either not ran It without service or maybe didn’t run It correctly It works seamlessly
