As a nurse I think you need to say “no matter what comes I will be here with you. No matter what comes, I will be here.” You cannot make false promises that you cannot deliver on. Just let your boy know that you love him and you will be with him. No matter what. It’s hard to watch people you love suffer and fight the good fight. There are services out there for cancer patients families for counseling for patients and the families. You aren’t responsible for his recovery no matter how much you may want to be. I know it’s devastating. I have been in your shoes caring for a suffering family member. Hardest thing I have had to do. I have done hospice nursing for years. Get some help. Do what the doctors tell you and listen to what they say. Denial is very strong in mothers. We always want to be in control of our families and the care. There is an old adage is let go and let God. I went through Stage 3 colon cancer last year. My treatment after surgery began in January 2022, so listening to you brought my memories to the present. The realness of what cancer does to your body, mind and spirit through the months. I saw the fear and helplessness in my husband's eyes, I heard it in my friends voices, and I watched my children face Mom's mortality. My first colonoscopy after treatment was last week and it was clear. My final PET scan is in early February. (Scanxiety is real.) I'm reclaiming my life and I pray Ray, and all who love him, will too. 🙏

I will pray for a perfect scan. I have stage 3 also. I got through radiation and phase 1 of chemo without too many side effects. I just started phase 2 chemo and have already needed 8 days in the hospital. I have 6 more infusions , then surgery.

Also, I want to tell you how much you inspire me, not only through your crafts, but as a mom,and a caregiver to your baby boy, you are a tremendously strong person and kindness exudes from you . Miracles happen. My husband was diagnosed with throat cancer in July. After going through chemo and radiation he is doing well. I gave it to God to give me peace and to heal my Lane. The fear you've experienced is real. I think you have been so scared that your body has been on a fast track to be everything to everybody. Its going to hit you that your body and mind HAVE to slow down! You all will find your stride in this new normal. I'm so glad you've chosen to slow that revving machine down and regenerate, or you will burn and crash. I lost my beloved mother, then my dad after and then I was diagnosed with a disease that has caused 14 surgeries. I also go through infusion with a drug for stomach cancer. Its been so very hard and depression is real. With this progressing, I have to know when to stop to take care of myself. I am alone -- you all are so very lucky to have your family. I do have some very good friends that care and help me. You're a terrific person, Kelly. You're loved and cared for by many. When my son had his life threatening health crisis, I remember feeling like, "I'm the mother. My job is to fix things." Accepting that I couldn't fix this did cause me to feel depressed, but I was so busy every day taking care of him that it hit me later. What I know is that we need to grieve for our child going through such trauma. Be kind and gracious to yourself, Kelly. ❤❤❤

I can feel your pain. My little niece at 4 has neuroblastoma. She was diagnosed a year ago. Surgery, chemo and now immunotherapy. The journey has been difficult for all of us. Hang in there! Thea herself has given us the strength to carry on. She is so cheerful- when she isn't flat out sick. Children. At 28 Ray too is a 'child' to you. Best for the future.
