37 here, feeling inspired! Recently got back into skating after a 25 year hiatus, and working up the courage to visit a park. Thanks for posting this!

park culture is pretty good in my experience, there's usually some similarly leveled guys and it's quite friendly.

@@mikel1425 totally agree, I’ve moved around quite a bit the past few years and every time I hit up a new park, everyone is very kind and helpful👍

38yo here too. Got back into it back in May after a 20yr break and have done so much more than when I skated when I was younger (just casual skating). I could only ollie, ride on 50-50, and boardslide. In the last 5 months, I’ve landed a few rolling pop shove-its, kickflip and heelflip in grass, nose stalls, noseslides, boardslides, and working on better manuals and FS/ BS kickturns (rolled my ankle and all I can practice at the moment is manuals and kickturns). I love skating and it has been great for me even if it is only going out front or in the backyard

hell yeh that's awesome. Yeh, it's weird, in many ways I feel like progressing is easier as an adult and more difficult in other ways.

37 here. Keep goin dude. I could really work on my transition skating too. Wish I had advice for you for your particular trick, but I will say this in general - we all get in habits when learning new tricks, good and bad habits, so mix things up.
@frontsidehealth22 күн бұрын
Thanks man. And that's excellent advice too👊 mixing it up is always a good idea

I think you could benefit in general from bending your knees more. I use to be quite rigid while skating. Focusing on bending my knees helps me a lot while balance or just courage lacking.
@frontsidehealth19 күн бұрын
I think you're spot on. I was just thinking about this today when battling a trick...each time I would relax and intentionally bend my knees, I would be closer and it would feel better...but it's something I always forget to reincorporate...I appreciate the reminder!

31 here with a 1.5 yr old so i have limited time to skate. but i make it work 2-3x a week if im lucky. but i go extremely early in the morning when the sun rises and everyones asleep. been pushing myself by giving myself challenges to work on and setting my camera down. its been helping a lot

32 years old here and I don’t skate as much as I longboard these days I would say I always felt doing the ol leg bend and leaning into the downward motion helped me in transition and I was that dude what was more transition than street lol hope that tip can maybe help ya!

@@qftsjustin appreciate this, I did make a note a while back that I need to bend the knees more so this is a good reminder

@@carlmarshall40 for sure, I’m feeling it at 38 so good on you for still skating, that’s inspiring. For me, since I’ve really started trying to skate more, I’ve had to pay close attention to how my workouts are structured and how my body is feeling each day.
