Why is there so much hate on this video? Just because someone is different from you does not make them a threat. She's saying that wearing the hijab is right for her, not that it's right for everyone. She's sharing her story and I think that's a beautiful thing. We can learn so much from one another.

Everyone in the comments section is so ignorant. She's breaking barriers and spreading diversity while you call her oppressed for wearing a hijab when it's obviously her choice. She's not representing every Muslim, she's representing herself. She's not normalizing oppression, because if you listened at all you'll know she's anything but. You're treating her like she's the first person who's benefited from her looks, while majority of Western celebrities are famous because they've won the genetic lottery. Your racism, prejudice and Islamophobia is showing. Meet a Muslim in real life and your hate-induced views will change.

The woman in the video isn't wearing a burka, shes wearing a hijab. And who are you to tell a woman what she can and can't wear , how is insisting that a woman can't wear a burka or hijab if that is her preference and belief any different from those who insist that she must? It's not Islam that suppresses women, its the culture or the specific place it's just those cultures use Islam as an excuse to do so. That is true weather that culture is insisting a woman wears items of clothing she doesn't wish to or insists she doesn't wear an item of clothing she wishes to. There is nothing offensive about covering ones head, go back 70 years and every woman in the UK/America would have worn a hat to go out. Some churches still insist women cover their head when they attend service or testify and the Queen still insists that all women in the Royal Family still wear a hat/hair covering in public how is that any different.
@serenitygoodwyn
@serenitygoodwyn 6 жыл бұрын
Frebellion you're welcome, I just wish people would stop telling women what they can and can't wear, should or shouldn't believe. It shows just how little respect these people have for women , when they assume that because a women wears a burqa she is being manipulated or oppressed ,women are neither stupid nor incapable. No doubt there are women who are forced to wear such against her will under threat of violence etc and that is also wrong but it isn't a religion that does that, its an individual or a society. The most frustrating thing is, most of these people wouldn't look twice at a Catholic Nun, who bar covering her face dresses similarly for similar reasons! It doesn't even make sense.
@sciencefiction2665
@sciencefiction2665 6 жыл бұрын
What is the difference between a Burka and a hijab? Both degrade women and come from cultures/religions that seem sexiest. I find it sad that a woman brought up with those beliefs, thinks it's a choice. I guess the cultures/religions are good at brain washing as well! It's like saying I'm a minority, but it's my choice. I encourage anyone to try and change my mind.
@serenitygoodwyn
@serenitygoodwyn 6 жыл бұрын
Science fiction 26, how exactly does an item of clothing degrade a woman, inanimate objects do not degrade women, people do! Realistically clothing comes down to one thing, protecting us from the elements, any belief or thought about an item of clothing beyond 'do I need to wear this to survive?' is a cultural or religious belief. Where I live in the UK, in sunny weather (hardly ever happens) it is considered acceptable for a man to be topless in public but not a woman, a woman would be expected to wear a bikini top as minimum . If I go on holiday to a resort in mainland Europe where it is perfectly acceptable for a woman to sunbath topless but based on my upbringing in the UK chose not to, am I oppressed or brain washed,? I would certainly feel degraded if someone tried to force me to go topless against my wishes. I don't know where you live, Assuming it is somewhere that at least occasionally has warm weather where it wouldn't be a health hazard to go naked, would you frequent a nudest beach and strip naked in front of strangers, because if you wouldn't then by your logic you are also brain washed because as I said the only biological necessity around clothing is to protect you from the elements and if it's warm enough there is no reason not to go naked other than your own personal beliefs (although sun cream is recommended). Likewise by your own logic if you can't walk down the street in your local town naked on days warm enough to pose no risk to you're health without being heckled or worse arrested, then you are oppressed and you have just been brain washed into thinking that it is unacceptable! Islam isn't any more sexist than any other religion, in fact it is probably far less sexist than Christianity from the bits of the two holy books I have read (I follow no organised religion but I do find them interesting)., In both religions there are individuals that use the religion as an excuse to oppress women, Catholicism and birth control anyone? The culture of many Islamic countries may be sexist but then so is every other country on the planet to a greater or lesser extent. Women still do not get equal pay to their male counterparts doing the same job in either the UK or USA for example. I totally support equal rights for women (after all the two things that lead to prosperity in a country without fail are educating their women and giving them control over their reproduction and prosperity is good for everyone men and women), but clearly you don't as you want to dictate what women but not men can wear!!! I ask again how is that any different to the people you claim are sexist for forcing women to ware a burka? All the Abrahamic religions state that men should grow their beard, should we also outlaw men having beards because it oppresses them and degrades them?
@sciencefiction2665
@sciencefiction2665 6 жыл бұрын
@@serenitygoodwyn That is an interesting point of view. Firstly I do think everyone should be equal to, but I don't see how being nude and the burka are the same. We identify people by there face. If it were only an item of clothing, how come men for that religion don't wear one. I agree with you on the religions as I don't follow any either, but where did the burka come from? Was is from a holy book or a new trendy scarf for women? If it were a scarf and didn't cover half your head, then I wouldn't care.

There is a genuine and staggering effort by alt-righters and paid propagandists to 'attack' the left. The alt-right, in particular, has been documented to move around in hordes and try to direct the flow of conversation in their favour. A lot of these accounts are alternate accounts. But there's also groups that just trove around in messaging servers, link to something that needs disliking, and have at it. It's a pretty gross state of affairs

Hijab is a symbol of oppression that deserves to be respected because of free will... Don't believe it should be celebrated though.

M S As an American you should respect other’s religions because America doesn’t have a specific colour or religion.

@M S so blatantly saying "no, not in America" to the question of "We should learn more about Islam" isn't ignorant, where's your logic. saying you're "knowledgeable on Islam" doesn't change anything. if you were knowledgeable in any way, you would know to respect everyone for their beliefs unless respect is not given to you.

in meanwhile in Iran my friends getting arrested for trying to take IT ( hijab) off just to take a selfie :( Also Halima made "Islam" sounded like its a race , its not. I am glad she choses to wear the hijab however i feel that women who wants to take IT off are the brave ones ( in my humble opinion)

Not really. Loads of people take it off and society supports them in that. It's much harder to keep it on.
