I' grew up my first 2 years in America in the Chicagoland area before moving north to a town called Antioch. My adoptive parents both grew up in Chicago. I am not much of a runner, however my younger adoptive brother used to run marathons from 2000 to about 2016. He loves running and he has won many medals. He was in the Navy for 10 years so running kept him fit. Your story is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing. By the way your chocolate cake looks delicious.

After moving past how my facial expressions may look & getting to know me you may just be surprised how I wear my heart on my sleeve & I'm funny as hell😉...You not only received a gift of a father n law and friend...you got the gift of having an experienced mentor. Who motivated you once again to go after two more passions you discovered you love. Now you've once again you've motivated & taught some beautiful life lessons to US & passed on some wonderful & DELICIOUS looking baked goods. Mission accomplished 😊💪🏻🤟🏻 You rock. Period. 🌸👏🏻

Hi I was wondering if you have a suggested substitution for the espresso? I typically only have drip coffee or instant coffee available. Of I swap it out for one of those, would it be the same measurement? Also, I love your content. The recipes are always amazing and your stories are always very heart warming.

Thank you so much!! When I didn't have espresso readily available, I would just use two teaspoons of instant coffee and increase the water by about 1/4 cup. :)

❓Hello Joanne, or anyone who has made this - the online recipe says 2.5 cups sifted all purpose flour (sifted, then measured), but the video looks like the flour is measured and then sifted. If you're made this recipe and the cake turned out great, would you please tell me which method you used? Sift then measure vs measure then sift? Thanks so much! ❤
