These stats prove that getting internal views are much more important than external ones. Many of my articles rank very well on Google, which drives a lot of traffic. However, my earnings are radically less although I have articles that reach up to 330k. It was an important revelation for me. Thanks for the video.

I've written a few stories on Medium, but none of them for a publication. Do you have a video, teaching how to approach publications? How do you find out what to do? Some publications have absolutely no guidance, no email address, no nothing. What does it mean 'to be added to a publication'? Does it mean once your story is accepted, you have an unlimited access to a publication? Or, do you have to apply each time you want to publish a story? I'd be very grateful for your reply. Thanks!

I had one go viral, too. It's done 66k views and nearly $2000. It was in a tiny publication and happened a month later. There's no way to figure out what will work, as I put 1/3rd the amount of time into that one than I do for articles I publish in bigger publications.

From my experience, there are no patterns with time and date because they have little to zero impact. This video already includes the most essential information I know about going viral.

Also, this gave me an idea on why certain headlines go viral: It's because they express something a lot of other people want to express, like to their friends, so it gets shared. Buzzfeed mastered this........"20 funny Tweets about work that we all can relate to".......Then you put something authentic and has value in the article itself and you have a winner ?

Medium income comes when a Medium member reads your story. There are many ways to achieve that - publishing in pubs is one. There's no guaranteed magic formula or anything like that - my 3rd most popular story was published on its own, not in a pub - but for the most part, putting your story in a pub allows it to access a wider audience of interested readers. If your blogs are only on Medium, it will still be possible to earn money if people are reading them!

Yes, Medium pays based on read time! If you're part of the MPP and publish stuff and it gets read, no matter where it is, you'll earn money.

I'm not actually sure I understand fully what clickbait is. I thought I did but am not 100 % sure. Is it more or less a title that's written to encourage interest?

Generally, titles that encourage interest are totally fine. Clickbait is when the content of the article doesn't deliver on the promise in the title (e.g., if the title is, "Do this one thing and your cats will love you forever" and the content is something like, "Well, there isn't really a secret hack. You just have to figure out what they want." That's clearly clickbait.) I hope that helps!
