Unbelievable video, you are just taking it to another level. Honestly, no one can touch you. Love the event, thinking of doing it in 2025, but cannot get passed your comparison with Badlands, where I was sweating bullets in 2023…

Thanks so much man. It’s definitely a much tougher course than Badlands so even though I’d recommend doing it, I’d recommend not approaching it in the same way or expecting the same kind of finishing time. It just pulls so much more out of you if you’re trying to go fast.

Congrats! Two things that I learned during my ultras. Fit new tires always two weeks ahead. Never let yourself pressure by other riders decisions, everyone needs to do what works for them and that is different for every rider. Pressure leads to stupid decisions and in ultras stupid decisions can end fatal.

I agree with that - i've never fitted new tyres so close to an event and it definitely wasn't the smartest decision. A good lesson to learn for the next one.

that montage 30 mins in brought me back to a hike i did earlier in the year in Sweden and Norway, the views even thinking about them now bring me to tears they were so perfect. This video was such a perfect reminder of the trip i did of all that. Those views are absolutely stunning. A great reminder to all cyclists to stop and smell the roses. This is the gold standard for cycling youtube, i can tell the editing process for this would've been monumental. Chapeau Tristan!

Congrats on an outstanding ride and equally impressive Vlog . Your technical skills on both fronts are very impressive. As a fellow Aussie I also finished Badlands (2021) and was on the start line for El Piri 2024. The latter infinitely harder than the former imho . Due to several factors I had to withdraw at 225 km . James Hayden has created a monster of a route that belies its “introduction to bike packing “ allure. My suggestion to anyone thinking of entering is to go with more gears than you think necessary, front suspension and tyres with ALOT of grip.

Those lezyne pumps are such a liability with unscrewing the valve core. They would be perfect with a latch mechanism rather than threading on.
