Josh thank you for the awesome video! I started my first IT job this year after three years working as a math teacher and it’s been such an amazing transition. Your videos helped so much especially in the job application process, you speaking about doing home labs and how to make yourself stand out helped land me in the role I’m in. I think the podcast tip is super impactful, it made for conversation when speaking with employers very helpful since it showed I was staying up to date with current trends. CYBER10 I like your channel I've always worked in IT, but always for and employer. One thing that has always been a burden is not being able or allowed to help people on the side, even for free. I've missed out on a lot of chances to learn in the moment and to get to aspect of interacting with other people when solving problems. This year I've decided to start working for myself and want to get to know people in IT and not just the problem solving from a technical perspective, but also the how did you get here and how can we prevent this from happening again. I've recently been talking to small business owners and there is still a lot they don't know about IT.

I’m enrolled in the google cybersecurity course right now and it is really good for someone who didn’t know anything about IT or cybersecurity I wouldn’t say it’s good for the comptia security+ it’s more hands on and preparing you for what you would be doing on the job. I’m currently on the 7th section of the course there is only 8 so by next week I should be done and have my google cert. I started on august 10th with minimal breaks I had to take couple weeks off for work, but if really put time in should take Atleast 1-2 months max.

Hey Josh, It's great to see you back with new videos! I had my A+ certification beforehand and subsequently purchased your career course. Even though I landed a help desk job before taking the final exam (thanks in part to the course), everything you mentioned came to pass. In my interview, I discussed the labs we covered, and I even managed to negotiate my salary! I'm contemplating diving into your cybersecurity course, but I'm considering first obtaining the CompTIA trifecta to ensure it's the path I want to take. This brings me to my question: Have you ever thought about offering certification courses, like Security+ or AZ-104, AZ-500? Sort of like Mosh does with his courses or Zero to Mastery.

The more I research the more it seems like the big Tech Companies have a severe labor shortage, but continue to make it difficult for themselves to hire employees. A college degree is slow and out dated. At 40 years old I assure you by and large the programs used now will not be the programs in 5-10 years. They want employees to fit a social structure they do not train and is more or less a random coincidence if they find their "like culture" applying. The training courses to obtain the skills they desire are scattered and not specifically designed with a clear order to take them, specific certifications to obtain, and a clearly defined goal. It's all, like most civilian life, chaos simulating order while maintaining chaos in the larger scope of project. Too many choices can lead to a blurred vision when choosing, and allows the opportunity to choose a path that did not yield the specific skills they wanted to find employees having for a specific position they wish to fill. That is my observation of this situation as I continue watching these vids for research and viewing professional courses online.

Hey Josh, the information you shared is very fruitful, but unfortunately in my current location: Lebanon, I'm not able to find any cybersecurity analyst internship or full time role, so I used all the Keywords I know, optimized my LinkedIn profile, nothing has worked so far. I'm seeking international relocation visa sponsored jobs/internships in the U.S., I guess this is impossible. I'm not legally authorized to work in the U.S./E.U., neither in the E.U., nor I hold American/Canadian/E.U. passport. Although I'm currently pursuing my BSc. CS, and graduate next year, I'm currently pursuing the Google Cybersecurity program, but all they ask for is experience. I check a role at Deloitte internship in Luxembourg, the HRs refuse to give a chance to candidates located outside the job location.

Good luck with the Sec+! I have a free Sec+ Anki deck with over 1k practice questions in it. You just need to install Anki, which is free: CISSP: joshmadakor.tech/cissp Security+: joshmadakor.tech/security-plus

I’m almost done with this course. I am currently an intelligence analyst in the us army. I plan on finishing this course paid for by the army then taking a 3 week in person course to get my sec+. I should be done with these by the end of this summer and by July 2025 is when I plan on getting a job in the Los Angeles area. I’ll probably take more courses in order to overall prepare myself more. From what I have been seeing in the LA area are entry level cyber security analyst roles no less than a $90k starting salary really. Having a secret or Top Secret clearance can also help you land a 6 figure starting salary from what it looks like on LinkedIn. Just got to work for a national defense oriented company. I like the course I’ve been learning a lot and a cyber security analyst role is very similar to my current job just security in the cyber realm and not in physical world. Even with all this the what if it doesn’t work out thoughts still cross my mind lol

Josh, thank you so much for your advice. I am planning to start the Goggle Cybersecurity Certificate program to help me prepare for the Sec+. I needed guidance on what can I add on me resume to fill in the gap on the skills, certs and experience, you answered those questions for me in the most simplest manner. Thank you !

Odd that this come up on my feed. Never watched one of your videos before but just completed the course and received the certificate. I am going for the Comptia trifecta and figured the Google cyber cert would be a good fountain which seems like it is. I will work on implementing your tactics to leave public service work and get a foothold in IT. Thanks for the info.

I earned my google cyber sec certificate in 1 month. It was a fantastic introduction into cyber security. I’m still searching for a job, the main thing holding me back right now is everyone wants someone with a BA and they seem to all have automated systems that filter out the applicants go don’t.
