Im a proper noob (2nd week flying), been flying the Happymodel Mobula 8 Digital HD with Walksnail, Walksnail Avatar Goggles L and Radiomaster Pocket. It's great for flying around inside my house, out the windows and back in through door (been practising in Horizon mode). Recommended by UAV Futures. Total cost was around £450 all in. ERLS 2.4g compatible. I'm flying in London, and sadly one crash into outside window frame the the horizon went all wonky and I lost control and it flew off, lost signal and it is in someones garden somewhere - and annoyingly my card wasnt in my goggles for me to review the footage! Lots of mistakes to learn from. Got another on order from Banggood. Wont make that mistake again I hope. Putting the hours in on Liftoff in Acro (which I should have done more of to be honest). Having fun with new hobby so far! (Despite the above cock up)

Don't give up! You keep getting better and better :-) and the quads will get bigger as you gain more confidence. I've also had my eye on the Radiomaster Pocket - currently using the Zorro. How happy are you with the Pocket? Are there any things that bother you about it?

its really hard to "sell" ...but I tell people to buy the HDzero goggles, everything else can be junk but your eyes are everything. especially since the bodies, or drones, are replicable and in a lot of ways disposable. goggles are everything.

I am completely new and can barely fly my drone, I’ve started with a tiny hawk 2 rtf kit, great little whoop that is compatible with beta flight. Only downside is the goggles don’t have a recording function and the controller isn’t the best tbh

What did you pay if I may ask? I've already seen the Tinyhawk 2 in other videos. At the time, however, I opted for the 3.5 inch as an upgrade to my cetus x.

You aren't as limited as you make out. The FC is replaceable with any 12A AIO, such as the BetaFPV 12A 1-2S AIO V2.2. You don't have to run the BetaFPV version of the FC, they just do that version for new pilots that honestly don't know any better. You can swap the FC out for any AIO that uses a 25.5x25.5 mount. The camera can be swapped for a Caddx Ant Lite, or you could try a C03 and use the M03 VTX, like they do with the Meteor75 and 85. The main limitation is the battery size. 2S makes life so much easier. I have a Cetus X that I picked up broken from UnmannedTech, swapped the FC for the new BetaFPV 5in1 Air AIO (£40 at UnmannedTech) and used a Caddx Ant Lite for the camera and M03 VTX. Or you could take everything off it and put it on a Meteor85 frame and use a BetaFPV Micro Lite Canopy with the regular Caddx Ant Nano. The only limitation, is you. :)
@fpv-geek3 ай бұрын
Exactly! That’s what I’m getting at. You’d have to replace nearly everything-only the batteries, frame, and motors are reusable. Sure, you could convert the FC to Betaflight, but is it really worth it? There are better options like Mobula or Hummingbird for the same price, and the BetaFPV 12A doesn't even fit the Cetus X frame. Plus, you'd still need a VTX for the Caddx Ant Lite. In the end, it's just easier to grab a better flying TinyWhoop instead of migrating the FC version to the Betaflight version. For example: I reuse the Cetus X motors and batteries in other copters.

I got a 2nd hand Cetus X ELRS kit discounted off the FaceBook marketplace when I was travelling through a warm country and needed an FPV fix. It was discounted because the VTX was almost burnt out. Luckily a local store had a camera module in stock and the price wasn't horrible. This was the BF version. Had to take off soon to avoid overheating in 35degC weather. Fun park cruiser, way too overpowered for indoor flights, and it catches breezes. So, it's probably not my first choice of learner drone either.
@fpv-geek4 ай бұрын
I think the BF version is definitely more fun. However, I wouldn't recommend the Cetus version to anyone. The drone itself is really fun and I got into the hobby because of it. However, you can hardly reuse any parts.
@conorstewart22145 ай бұрын
I have the Cetus X betaflight version and it is a great drone for practicing. I think your main issue is going for the non betaflight version because other than that it is a great drone.

@krazed04514 ай бұрын
@@fpv-geek As a complete noob I bought a mob8 after about 15 simulator hours. It's fun in larger areas but I've found it way to fast around the house and my small yard as a beginner. From what i understand the mob6/7 are better suited to smaller spaces while still having enough punch for some outdoors too. I wanted the mob8 as I plan on converting it to a Crux3 when I'm more competent and all I'll need to do so is a frame, some motors and props :-)
@fpv-geek4 ай бұрын

I always look for the best channel. You can still adjust the camera focus on the camera itself. This also helps enormously if it has become misaligned. However, I have to say that the video quality of the Cetus X and the Drashark are worlds apart. Drashark is much better.
