In this video, I discuss how I WOULD train NBA player, Payton Pritchard. Payton is a fantastic player and is off to a great start in this league with Celtics, but like everyone, can improve. This is how I would personally train him during an off-season based on what I am seeing in the film.
Payton Pritchard is currently a great role player, coming off the bench and being a great spark, and can score the ball in a hurry, with his role and strengths in mind I think he can improve in a few areas.
Improve his off-the-catch shooting ability even more. Since he gets such a high volume of these shots, it makes sense for him to become great at them. This would mainly consist of high-volume shooting in a variable manner and also including bad passes and purposely messing up his rhythm on his shot. From there he can also really improve his off-the-dribble jump shot so a good portion of reps would go toward that, especially out of the pick-and-roll setting.
The next area I think can improve him is his ability to finish more effectively around the rim, and one thing I think he can ADD is his floater game, using these more in games I think overall will make him more effective as his role or situation changes.
Lastly, improve his ability to be effective in transition and making the right decisions while getting downhill.
Most of this would be trained through the use of specific small-sided games to train these reads and situations in a game-like manner.
Shoutout to celtics journal for the short mix we used
