Every thing he's saying is true when training on a certain skill don't just do the same thing alone, you need to have defense in game sicarios that can happen

Would appreciate a practical application for number 2 because everyone knows it’s not good to be rushed, but practically, that’s difficult to do in game. How do I break that habit while not becoming the complete opposite and not moving fast enough to contribute to my team.
@tjltrainingКүн бұрын
Watch film and study how players use their speeds at certain times and WHY it is effective then replicate
@Chunky.CheeseКүн бұрын
@ Ive done that a bunch, and I know in my brain when to adjust my speed but I just can’t seem to make myself do it in game. Will that just come with more experience or is there some immediate trick I can use to help?

My 6 year old can make repetitive shots with no defender. Good point but if your gonna make this point bring a guy to defend you like it would be in a game.

With Number 2. I agree but I think of it like this. You need a solid foundation of a shot, which means something that you can easily replicate over over again. Then you add the different ways to get into shot, different loading positions, speed, different pickups. They are not different shots, just changes how you get into the shot.
@tjltrainingКүн бұрын
Nah you quite literally will have times your form is different, lift path, follow through, release point, knee bend all these things will be different so it is quite literally a different shot not just different way to get into it

The last one is incorrect. You don’t need to make quick decisions when you have the ball. Jokic is the best player in the world and he is hesitant off catch.

A: the NBA is very very different than the way basketball is played for 99.8% of players B: I wouldn’t consider what Jokic is doing as hesitating

personally, i feel that more sleep and proper hydration improves an athletes abities immediately. too many athletes are training dehydrated and under slept, without proper hydration with proper mineral and iodine levels, motor function response decreases. without sleep neuroolastisity does not reach its full potential...for lack of better term, muscle memory. get off the phone..stop titok scrolling til 1 in the morning.😂

Hey TJL Training, I have a question for you. So for the past 3 months I’ve been struggling on confidence and consistency with shooting, 3 months ago I was really confident with my shooting then I went to a camp and the coach told me to change my form and I tried it out. And I didn’t like it, now I can’t get my normal form back. And I’ve been in this shooting slump. He told me to load my wrist earlier then I was before. And every time I went to shoot I was leaning back wards. How do you suggest for me to go from here.
@tjltraining4 күн бұрын
Did you need to change your form? If so I would stick to it until you fix it, yes you will take one step back but sometimes that is necessary to take two steps forward so stick with it

If I understood your point correctly during the 10,000 hour rule portion, the genetics of getting better isn’t just the athletic ability, but also that individuals learning ability. This could explain why the chess player example showed different ranges in when someone becomes proficient at the game.

Maybe this isn’t the main point, but this is what I pulled from it

Great video, love the second tip. This has been something I’ve been struggling with the last few months. How much thought should be put into my form before I shoot? Where on the spectrum should I be from not caring at all about how my shot looks/feels as long as it goes in. Then on the other end think about every small detail to improve my shot. If I know I shoot better with a certain rythm/speed in my shot, I feel like I should try and replicate it every shot. But at the same time, good form or in this case good rhythm isn’t my goal, I just want to make the shot. But I know having good rythm is an important aspect in shooting. I don’t think it’s a secret that the best shooters only think about making the shot, and not about how their form looks. I shoot way better when my sole focus is to make the shot. But if I have good rythm in my shot, I feel like my chances of hitting it go up. So you’re saying work on making shots when you don’t have good rythm, balance etc. Rather than trying to replicate the same shot/form?
@tjltraining5 күн бұрын
In games you shouldn’t be thinking about your form at all, in terms of workouts if you need to fix your shot it will take some conscious effort on your own, if you form is solid you shouldn’t be thinking about your form in workouts either. No you shouldn’t try to replicate the same exact shot every rep that is exactly what I discussed in point 2. You should practice different speeds, lift paths, arc heights, etc. focus on achieving the goal not the process

if you can’t shoot 8/10 on threes by on air should you focus on hitting that amount first or should you work on both on air and contested shots?
@tjltraining11 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t worry about being able to hit 8/10 in a row, you should be able to do it by training the right way and actually becoming a good shooter. Wouldn’t focus on that and would do contested shooting in some capacity from the start

Wouldn’t….wouldn’t playing more games better prepare you for 5v5 basketball? I think the only issue is that kids get the 1v1 skills from trainers then want to use them in game all the time. None of this “they play too many games” nonsense, if anything SURELY the player who plays the most 5v5 basketball will naturally understand the game better than someone who mainly does situational drills in practice, no?
