How I Wrote My First Screenplay (writing three pages a day)

Back in June, I set an important goal to try and finish a solid draft of my first screenplay by September 24th. For the first time in my life, I was well before the deadline (September 21st) - though this video wasn't...
Finishing something this big felt like a really daunting project, but with some discipline on writing three pages every day, it was not as hard as I originally thought. It's definitely rough, but there's plenty of room to edit and build on what's there. Or just toss it in a drawer and forget about it.
This wasn't meant to be something I jump to produce or submit to contests or hold as a testament to who I am as a writer, this was just meant to get me going in the feature film space and learn to sustain a story longer than a short film. It turned into something I'm really proud of.

I know this is a relatively old video at this point, but congratulations on finishing your first screenplay. I have one or two I've started (perhaps if nothing more than for the heck of it) that I've never finished. Kind of makes me want to do that even more now. And I might have to pick up that book you showed at some point. Again, since this was uploaded two years ago, just out of curiosity, how has things gone with this since this video?

That's amazing man. Yeah, it's a really cool feeling having finished it. Now I'm working on rewriting it and turning it into something that I could film on a low budget! It's exciting, but definitely a struggle trying to rework the story to fit what's possible while also trying to improve what's there. It's almost like it's been morphing into something else which is awesome but hard to wrap my head around, lol!
