The other unique thing about a 10 yard zero is its almost identical to an 85 yard zero and is right on at 10 yards also. Only real difference is at 100 yards the 10 zero is .1 inches lower then 85 yard zero at 100. This is with 9mm 124 grain HST. So with 85 or 10 yard zero the most you will be off from 0 to 100 yards is 2.3 inches. Check out Federals ballistic calculator as its all right there.

I’d like someone to explain how the guy you mention at 1:20 zeroed for 25 yards and was a foot low at seven yards. That is physically impossible. The bullet is only an inch (ish) below the line of sight when it exits the bore. If it’s a foot low at seven yards, he’s got real problems, or magic bullets. Most bullets, when they begin their descent, don’t swap directions and begin to rise.

Is that all self defense rounds or will range rounds be OK? I think I heard on one of your videos that you zero with carry ammo. I have the money...the hard part is being away from my companion for that long. She has MS and doesn't drive, besides we only have one car anyway. I'll work it out. I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking I will be taken a class from you or some of your crew!! I'm 73 and been shooting RDS for about two years now. I have just started watching you and have just gotten my first red dot. My short history with it is the sight has to be canted downward 30⁰ and right 10⁰ just to get the dot on the glass. At this angle, the bottom half of the sight window is blocked from view by the rear face of the sight housing. After adjusting to maximum up and left, the point of inpact at 3 yards is 5"-6" low and 2"-3" right. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they responded that it was "fine", "in specs", they did nothing, and returned it. Last week I remounted the "inspected" site and the substantially obscured site window and points of impact are exactly the same as before I sent it in. If I had limitless adjustment range, I could zero it. I believe the emitter is projecting the dot incorrectly. I know I am a novice with red dots, but, is there a better way to descrbe the situation to the service department so they will actually test and fix it?

So, although this was six years ago, when you put this out, hopefully you’ll see this or someone could answer this. I’ve heard that the lazy man’s way initially before you really get out to the range to get the dot at least on target and within center mass or within that center area of the body, you can lollipop as I was told or slave, the red dot to the top of your front side so it looks like a little head sitting on the body kind of thing is that true just to get it dialed in before you get out of the range and a general Area of focus I guess without truly doing the 10 yards initially so the clarify slaving the red dot to the front side initially just for argument sake is that OK slaving it you want to get out there and fire and so you know exactly where it’s going, but is there anything wrong with slaving it initially to kind of get you in the ballparkand we’re talking not more than 10 yards that you would be probably focused on anyway

First off, I would like an on / off switch. When I am going to carry. I would turn it on before I lieve. Having the sight on while on my shelf is a dead battery to me. The sight is no good if the battery dies. The auto on would be additionally good feature. My first red dot is on a Sig Mosquito. Could not get a fair trial. The Sig failed every mag. Even after returning it to Sig two times at my expense, $80.00 each. I now have a Canak 9mm. First problem is finding the dot. Iron sights you have an immediate reference. You are looking down the slide and immediately Aline the sights. I also had a (maybe still have) adjusting the sight alignment. They put a slot alignment and locking screws. Very tiny. I could not find a screw driver small enough. The one I thought was small was only rubbing on the fixture around the screw and moving the adjustment screw. I was getting frustrated with my shot pattern being off. Finally I called Vortex. They sent an adjustment kit (free). Then it was not working right. I just could not get it right. I used a barrel laser alignment tool. I could see where I was moving the dot. I have only shot a couple of IDPA matches to be confident with my adjustment. When I talked to "Vortex". I suggested they replace the slotted screw with Allen screws. Much easier to a-line Allen wrench than a slot screwdriver. His comment was like it fell upon deaf ear. The battery kept dropping out as I attempted to mount the red dot on the mounting plate. I used transparent packaging tape to hold it in place. Worked great. I just cut the excess off after mounting and securing it. One thing the RED DOT and laser pointing dot showed me. I was shaking more than I realized. I am 76 and not a exercise person. I just started working my arms with weights and my fingers with a 7 lb "Cando Digi-flex" finger grip exerciser.

Hello Scott. I recently zeroed my RMR at 10 yards (glock 19). But I found that my dot actually significantly dips below my 1/3 co-witness sights (rear sight behind optic). It means that when I shoot with the dot, I actually tilt my gun up and my rear sight lines up with the base of the front sight blade. Is this normal?
@mikel91625 жыл бұрын
Sir, I can tell you for a fact, if zero at 20-25 yards results in a foot low at 7-10 yards, your barrel indexing, (Lock up) is completely out of spec. It should be apx. 3 inches. Not trying to challenge your experience, however, you are not quite understanding the mechanical workings of barrel to slide/frame alignment. you have a problem with your gun. Period. the difference in poi should be, at the velocities or the 9mm, not much more than the difference in height of the center of the red dot above the centerline of the bore. this is the offset. and is an industrial standard to sight for the difference. This offset is one of the biggest reasons to strive for the lowest mounting of the sight as possible. The higher the centerline of the sight, the more severe the offset. KnifeMaker

I recently saw a video about zeroing a red dot and/or laser that seemed like a better idea. You want the dot to be parallel to the barrel/point of impact of your bullet. Same with a laser if you’re running one. This way you never have to re-zero based on distance. You will always hit an inch below your dot if it’s parallel. That would be the case regardless of distance.
@thomcad2 жыл бұрын
i gotta ask you to explain this more and maybe link to the vid because it makes no sense to me. The bullet will always start dropping the instant it leaves the barrel relative to a perfectly straight line drawn out the barrel. Whatever optic you are using starts out some distance above the barrel, so you have to sight in with the front sight a little proud, so the sight line and barrel line meet at some point. If you start at parallel then the point if impact will continue dropping with each yard you get further away from the target.
