How immersive should GTA 6 be?

Calm down it’s just a horse riding simulator, well at least for the story mode. after a couple of hours there’s very little to do and the bounties being so cheap that you can really do anything you want without any consequences, on top of the lackluster content and them cutting the online mode which had sooooooo much potential, It really could’ve been the next GRA Online.

I would like for gta 6 to be similar to rdr2 with the need to eat and sleep and clean to keep your cores up. Personally I didn’t think it was overbearing and added to immersion. With the addition of cops attempting to pull you over if speeding but not necessarily enforcing traffic laws I think would be perfect. Also having the need to gas your vehicles without it being overbearing would be cool.

In the 2022 gameplay leaks, there was security cameras (that have a “fill-up” meter which, records and detects movement.) in certain buildings and around valuable outdoor areas. So that would, make gameplay way more strategic imo.

As you suggested, I think a happy medium is perfect. Take the best from from both IP's and make a game with a healthy mix of immersive methodical gameplay, with in your face action movie esque sequences and elements. That's what I love about GTA 4 the most, they took some of the action bang bang moments you would have in San Andreas, but complement it with some more slower paced stuff to soak in the environment around you. I don't hate GTA 5, but the non stop go go go action is a bit cliche, it's good to slow things down every once in a while.

And THATS the difference with GTA IV. For me, GTA 5 got boring after 3 years. But i still can (and still do ) re-play GTA IV each year, and it NEVER gets boring. Its much more immersive and theres always something interesting to explore. I'm sure GTA 6 will go back to more realism and immersion!

I think the only thing I absolutely do not want in a GTA game is an honor system. The reason why red dead redemption has an honor system is because of the game’s story about people who try to survive day by day’s redemption of their past actions. GTA is usually about the rise(and sometimes the fall) of a character’s Criminal career. It wouldn’t make sense for that said character to have a moral conscience to play a big part of the game. I would think maybe a respect, or infamy meter may be more fitting though. Less of that meter and less people know you, and disregard you, the more of the meter, the more you are feared and seen Edit: I didn’t realize I made the exact same point about this that was said in the video. They have already said that they will tone down the humor and edgyness so it'll no longer be like the old GTA games. With that in mind I would prefer if the game went the immersive route, kinda more a sim thing. So I hope they look more to RDR2 than GTA5. GTA5 was sorta fun and all but the open world gets relly boring really fast and going on rampages is only fun for a short while the combat mechanics does not support turning it into a chaotic shooter.

Toning down things can work if they do something else with the game, but if they just PG13 the game and put nothing else in it's place it'll jst be like a bad GTA clone but made by Rockstar.

That’s understandable. I do think that RDR2 is still playable even if you ignore all of the immersive survival elements. You don’t really have to go out and hunt if you don’t want to. I know that you get buffs to your health, stamina, and dead eye based on what you eat, but I never paid attention to that in my first play through and did fine. At the end of the day, I think a lot of that stuff is extra fluff that will enhance the gameplay if you want it, but you can also just completely ignore it and focus on the story missions if that’s more what you want.

GTA6 and Kingdom come 2 are the main games i want RDR2 set a bar for living detailed worlds. i like the wildwest setting more but still love GTA. GTA6 willl be fast paced and may not feel as immerisve but it should still feel more alive then most games.

Yeah, I think it’s going to be a bit harder to fully immerse yourself in GTA like you can do in Red Dead just because of the pacing. GTA is just a naturally fast paced game, given you’re driving around in (usually) fast cars rather than riding around on a horse. But I am excited to see how Rockstar handles that!

When I was 17/18 and all we had was Vice City, leading into San Andreas release, I felt so immersed in those. Then graphics got better... and I got older. Lost immersion in game, kinda need it again. GTA cities feel so dead anymore, hopefully VI is alive and thriving like Saint Denis was in the 1890s.

I think gta 6 would be immersive if the map were similar to gta 5 because it made me feel immersed when I took 5 minutes in a sports car to get from los santos to paleto bay so this made me feel like the world of gta 5 was alive even though the game feels like a playable cartoon which I don’t want to gta 6 but you have to draw a line between fun and realism

I half agree. I like big maps when they use the space properly. GTA 5 has a ton of wasted and open spaces with nothing around, you can feel immersed in the country side but it would have been better if they put more things to see and interact with between LS and Paleto. In GTA 4 there really wasn't any areas that felt barron or wasted, each section had its own unique identity and aesthetic, going from Dukes and Broker felt like 2 completely different locations while on 1 island. In 5, Vespucci and Vinewood are really the only 2 stand out spots, the rest of LS feels kinda "samey". GTA 4 map was more compact, the map felt bigger cause it had more going on, when in reality the overall scale of the map was smaller than San Andreas. I wouldn't mind if 6's map is smaller than 5, as long as it's more compact and the different areas of the map stand out more, more immersive that way for sure.

I think graphics, stranger missions, random encounters, and mechanics should fuel immersion. In my opinion, reinventing the game would displace long-time fans of GTA. I have several friends who are huge fans of GTA - that lose their minds playing RDR2 due to pacing and certain game mechanics that are geared toward immersion. Chaos!! Red Dead 3 will be our more immersive experience.

Nah, i dont think realizm and immersion should be that important in GTA. Part of the fun in GTA in my eyes is how rediculus the gameplay can be, with a world and characters mostly made to be a parody of our own world. To quote a polish GTA KZbin, in his eyes: "When the day comes, where i won't be able to pull out a rocket launcher out my ass, this it the day this series dies." And i stand by that! Tho at the end of the day, i think the game should be plain fun to play, and have characters rivaling the level of CJ, realizm or not.

In the original GTA San Andreas it actually matters if you are fat or buff… CJ runs at different speeds and technique, the stamina changes, NPCs will point out how you look or smell and there are differences in cutscene dialogues… The Definitive Edition removed most of those changes lol

Thing is with gta, it’s a parody where as rdr2 is realism, they refer to California and other places in red dead, but as we know California doesn’t exist in gta it’s called San Andreas and La is los santos. So I think it’s gonna be realistic but still hold true too gta and throw in some comedy but maintain a serious tone. Sort of gta 4/vice city mixed together.

I feel like Rockstar has made it pretty obvious that they're more interested than ever in crafting meaningful stories with RDR2. I am basically regurgitating all of the points I made in my "Should GTA 6's story be serious?" video, so go watch that. But even if the story and tone of the game is more serious and immersive, that doesn't mean that there will be zero space for absurdity and wackiness. You don't even have to look at RDR2 for that, San Andreas has a pretty emotional story (if you pay attention to it), but you still have plenty of absurdity and escapism. Additionally, I would argue that a serious story like RDR2's IS escapism from real life. You are temporarily experiencing the stories of people that don't exist, even if it is based on a real setting.

Take the setting heavily into account when it comes to talking about the levels of immersion. Whenever a game would take place in Liberty City ( III - LCS - IV & TEFLC -CW ) they've all tended to have a high emphasis in storytelling, being more gritty and realistic take on big city crime. The games set in the state of San Andreas (SA V) have been over the top and ridiculous - hence the high amount of influence from the place that produces such (Hollywood, of course) As for Vice City, it's always been the place for empire building and building relationships. All and all, I hope IT IS immersive and it all goes well, but then again the ungodly amount of time they have been tinkering with gta online after all these years I hope it all hasn't gone all completely in their heads to make it over the top and ridiculous.

They pretty much need to revamp gta like yea i should know its gta but if i go back to gtav it should be night and day. A reboot of the sense. Like that feeling we got with that first god of war for the ps4. It was a brilliant reboot of what gow was, it felt new. This game needs to be more immersive and everything you do needs to be more intricate. For instance. Maybe i cant just pull people out of there cars every single time without fail, maybe people lock their car when driving so I might have to trail them and wait until they get to a destination and get out there car then i can hot wire and take it. Maybe i see that this guy is driving with his window down so I hold him up when hes vulnerable and get him to get out the car like that, or a guys at a drive through and i hop in the passenger seat tell him to get out the car. Things like that and that needs to be with every action. Yea in gtav you get a haircut and thats just it, gta6 maybe your hair grows out and you have to do up keep, maybe some barbers are better than others. Gtav the cops just chase and gun, maybe they write tickets and arrest you in gta6, use a tazer, give you warnings

i think people need to temper their expectations. Sure, the game is most likely going to be amazing with tons of improvements on GTA 5. But let's not expect it to be some real life simulator. #1 it's not a realistic expectation to have, and #2 It's a video game, the more a video game starts getting closer to real life, the less fun it becomes. Very realistic games tend to be closer to a chore or a job than a fun activity. For example, remember how RDR2 had realistic skinning animations for different types of animals? sure it looked cool the first few times we saw it, but honestly it just became a chore waiting on Arthur to finish his skinning animation every single time. Like dude, i just want to skin this animal to make some in-game dollars, i dont have all day to see the same animation over and over again.

We dont want a real life simulator, we just want more immersion and more intimacy in certain aspects of the game with “some” of rdr2’s mechanics but obviously reworked and improved. For instance in gta5 everytime i press triangle I WILL pull a pedestrian out of there car EVERY SINGLE TIME. Maybe in gta6 people lock their doors so I have to think more. “Hmm, I notice this guy is driving with his window down. I might be able to get him for his car and hes at a red light sandwiched between two other cars”. Or maybe I see a guy at a drive through so I know hes vulnerable, I jump in his passenger seat, pull my gun out, tell him to give me all his money then i pistol whip him, push him out of his car and drive off. These are new mechanics never seen in gta, but its still gta’esq. you cant tell me thats not more engaging than pressing triangle and you just pull people out of the car. Its 2024 time for some better and more dynamic gameplay

Video games are supposed to be FUN, ENTERTAINING & BEYOND the confinements of "REALISM"... WANT REALISM?, just live your F...G life. GTA V & VI could use. -Better and more variety of movement mechanics & hand to hand combat (like GTA San Andreas, or True Crime NYC). -Series of races ending in BETTING YOUR OWN CAR on the final race (that's some motivation to better your driving skills). -Being able to USE THE TRUNK OF YOUR VEHICLES to store Ammo, Armor, Weapons & Health items. -Having the option to do EVERY mission & campaign solo. -The option to "Hire & command" NPC characters to assist you in missions....with specific functions like, "cover fire, vehicle interception / gateway driver , to help you escape so you can focus on driving, and vice versa if you prefer shooting instead. -Something GREATLY immersive will be not just more STEALTH missions, rather THE OPTION to do mission (completely) with stealth, and not just the beginning, till you get caught. And of course....better character stories, like RD redemption

I heavily disagree. All the immersion features you mentioned make games worse and ruin their fun. Realistic games with chores you already have to do in real live are not fun. That is also why rdr2 was not as fun to play as gta 5 is. I don't wanna do unfun chores like having to constantly go to the barber so my character stays looking the way I want. Realistic features aka chores ruin games. I hope they don't add any you mentioned. Gta 5 has the perfect balance and I hope they keep it like that and don't go the rdr2 direction. Having 50 weapons up your ass and doing mayhem with them is fun. Not having to worry about long term consequences after it beside loosing the stars is fun. Arcady gameplay that lets you fuck around is fun.

After playing Dragon's Dogma 2, I realized I don't care about those meaningless small details that people make videos on KZbin and get a million views. I care about systems. Dragon's Dogma 2 has almost 0 systems. It's so bad people are not sure if the crime system is bugged, because guards don't care if you attack citizen in the capitol. The wakestones are solely used to resurrect NPCs and NOTHING in the game utilizes this. No quest, no mechanic, nothing. It's just a complicated way to respawn NPCs. It's impressively shit. And this is what I hope GTA 6 doesn't struggle with. I hope it actually has some systems to interact with other than the Wanted level. Something dynamic, like a gangwar or something.

not as popular as those, is like 10 times more, and btw u can have immersive mechanics that are cool and add realism and be able to mess around like gta 5, Rockstar wont add super tedious stuff like being recognize by police so easily and make it annoying asf but dont be affraid of other type of realistic mechanics and interactions in the game... they just adding more ways u can play, u can still go with ur RPG and start chaos all over the city, probably only difference is that u cant carry an RPG and 50 other guns but u will be able to hold few pistols and 2 rifles/big guns if im not wrong...
