People who are blaming Nehru are the type of people who have no idea about the situation of India during the time of independence, everyone was expecting it to balkanize as all states were trying to break away with their own language country, holding the country together itself is a great feat itself. People blaming him for not making toilets(priority was to make available of free foods for the majority of people), for not capturing territory(war takes huge wealth from country, and providing your economy with wealth is far better than capturing some new territory and let riots breakdown on streets and break country). Whenever you feel he did a blunder just go check why the officers and everyone in his party thought to take the decision, what were the demerits.

Nehru missed too many opportunities at the cost of Bharat's future. He gifted coco islands to myanmar, he rejected Nepal's wish to join Bharat as one of its state , making kashmir a disputed territory, rejected UN's security councils permanent seat etc. But Gwadar at that time was truly unsustainable. Today, due to changed circumstances only , it now seems indispensable.
