In the spring of 2021, a devastating second wave of COVID-19 sweeps India. A highly transmissible mutation of the virus emerges. Daily cases soar to over 400,000 at its peak, setting global records.
As the demand for oxygen, hospital beds and medicines escalate, Indians from different parts of the country come together to help: youths set up an online resource bank of medical essentials, people provide free oxygen supplies to villages, friends start a hospital for the needy, and ambulance companies provide transport services, taking the deceased to their last rites. This is the story of a nation coming together to fight an unseen enemy.

I somehow survived the 2nd wave. My oxygen levels depleted to 68%, I remember watching my elder brother crying helplessly, along with my newly wedded wife. No ambulance, no beds in the hospital, and obviously, no oxygen. Thanks to a suggestion from a doctor, I started doing lung exercises or you can call it Yoga. My oxygen levels reached the required levels. This experience changed the way I see things. Life is short, it is never going to be enough. They did well but this documentary is propogandist and runs it's own narrative makes these hospitals look good but did nut show the huge amount of daily deaths amongst poor people.. The best documentaries are those who paint both sides of the picture.. Running a particular narrative is only burying the truth... India had the highest mortality rate in the world but that is not even mentioned in a documentary about covud in India so again misleading and inaccurate

India has so many wonderful people. So many brave souls dedicated to each other. I am impressed by how much love and compassion they showed, and how selflessly they gave of their time, energy and money. I am Indian and vaccination program is really impressive. I got my second dose last month in Apollo hospital and the whole process was well organised. I first had to register online. Went to the centre. They had checked the BP. Confirmed the registration and whether its first dose or second dose and of which vaccine. Signed on the card. I went to the booth and got my vaccine. Later got a digital certificate to my phone confirming that second dose was completed for me. It was a smooth process

Only I know what I went through when I was scrambling to arrange an oxygen Cylinder for my mother, while being Covid-19 Positive. I, myself had fever but had to get out to doctor, to pharmacy, to hospital and because my whole family got infected. That was horrific time, but with able to arrange cylinder from black market, my mother survived. My whole family survived, but that was a once in a lifetime experience. I won't want anyone else to go through like this. Now, it's been 3 months since I tested negative, but still had fever after when I tried to run because before Covid I was running 6 KM per day. Now, after losing almost 7KG from Covid-19. My life is devastated.

I'll never forget the evening of 16th April 2021, a day before Delhi went into a hard lockdown. I was driving down our ring road at 8pm, and, seemingly, every 2nd vehicle on Delhi's main arterial road was an ambulance with its siren switched on. It truly seemed like the end of the world was upon us. I'm really thankful that my family and I are safe, but we know way too many people who lost someone during the second wave. Regardless, all credit goes to our healthcare workers and the countless volunteers across the country. We owe you our lives, and the country owes you so much more than what you're currently getting in return for your services.

same bro i didn't sleep a single day for 7 days when my brother was positive and there was no bed, only option was home isolation, medicines and monitoring, prayers, fearing each day that may he recover without oxygen, it was so hard to find.i could sleep only on the 8th day when he showed improvement, whole night i used to sit outside his room, entering his room every 15-30 minutes just to see if he is okay, from 8th day when he was finally able to get some sleep i used to get scared like if he's really sleeping why is there no coughing sound, while he slept i used to touch his chest or roam tried to measure oxygen level to make sure that he is just sleeping and nothing has gone wrong, i can never forget those days, may god never put even my enemies in such a state, RIP to all those wonderful souls who are not here with us anymore. 😭

This was a crisis which was truly handled by superhumans. Our doctors and nurses worked overtime, without caring for themselves. I know an officer of administration who went to office at 7 am in morning, worked tirelessly throughout the day till 10 pm at night, all the while making arrangements for oxygen, wherever he could find. I get to know that the ministers couldn't get sleep, getting frantic calls and messages throughout night, making arrangements thereafter. The crisis and the tragedy had put us all in a position where we were so stressed up that we didn't think about what the doctors or the administration were going through. After pulling out of the crisis, today, with a clear mind, I am realising how this devilishly huge task was handled by the people who stayed away from their families for us. Huge respect to them.

@@sayantanchakrabartty3959 The only way to end a pandemic without a high death count is vaccination. This is not humanity's first pandemic. We had the spanish flu as a reference as what action to take. But the problem is the govt was run by stupid idiots who wont take advice from medical experts. The moment the virus was in the country, vaccine development should have been done on war footing and a plan should have been in place to vaccinate everyone. But we all know what happened. Not 1re was given by the govt for vaccine development. Initial funding in India was done by Bill Gates. Shame. Then govt declared victory without vaccination once cases started going down. Then second wave hit. Every medical expert was saying there will be a second wave. We had a reference of the spanish flu waves. But still govt didnt prepare. Literally the govt went into hiding during the crisis. It was the common people whom you are blaming that were rising to the situation and helping others. This govts actions were criminally incompetent during the corona crisis.

Really moved me to tears. In April 2021, I had suffered a lot owing to the virus and I had been without hospital or oxygen support for 12 days since I had been affected by the Covid-19 virus. I was nearing the end as I knew it very well. I live alone without any family and hence I knew that it was the end. I had only about a night and perhaps half a next day on my meter to live on this planet after which someone would have cremated my mortal remains too in the same way as has been shown here. One last hospital bed came to my rescue and I recovered to stand on my feet in a matter of a week. The doctors and nurses that attended to me did a fabulous job and I survived to narrate the tale. Frightful period in the history of humankind indeed.

It was war and I really thank all the medical professionals and such people who risked their own lives for the service of others. Exactly on my grandmother's first death anniversary in April 2022, I was blessed with a baby girl. I'll never forget the pain when we had to reallocate a bed, oxygen or medicines to the next person even before wiping the tears, since we lost the person who needed it. Losing some one between calls, in a matter of minutes. We lost may be more than we saved, even family, relatives, young people who could have made a life. I'm happy that we could save some lives, but I can never forget, may be not forgive the fact that we lost many despite everything we did. I prayed and still pray that such days never come again.

I experienced (2nd wave)..... The day we all(5 members in my family) find covid positive.....initially 2-3 days we didn't feel ill....but my mother health was getting down ... that time there was no a single oxygen bed available (my mother o2 level was 65-70)....still 30 hrs of finding for hospital , I get hope that in __ hospital I can get a bed but after being stay in queue for 8 hrs where 60-70 people were positive (in a queue) and patients who were at severe stage there I didn't arrange o2 bed.. I was litterally frustrate unable to think anything at that time...but somehow our neighbor Doctor arrange a o2 bed and then we feel good....then we realize that my mother will fight and come back soon.....a day before my mother discharge ,my father health gets down his o2 was 90-92 but can clear seen that he loose at least 12-15kg and he couldn't able to eat a bite of food even not a fruit/juice so then... I talk to doctor he suggested to do HRCT and then 13/25 score .... need to hospitalized and able to get o2 bed in the same hospital where my mother was!!....so to my father letting feel positive that he will cure very soon....so I kept my mother 1 extra day to be with father and tell him about exercises and think positive....then I felt better that my parents are recovering myself was covid positive.....after 20-25 days my parents were at home and covid situation was getting down....patients were found less we were at home and eating hygienic food, breathing exercises.....and now we are happy that we are together....When I remember those 3-4 weeks .... I cried.... now I volunteered for covid patients , because every live matter..............

@aleenaprasannan2146
@aleenaprasannan2146 2 жыл бұрын
Because those tanks are not for you to hoard in anticipation of getting infecting and that too being sick enough to need oxygen someday in future. While someone else needs the oxygen right then and there, much more than a healthy uninfected person. It's like diverting a public drinking water tap exclusively to your home during a drought and collecting and keeping all to yourself thinking that you 'might' need it when you eventually need it later someday when you are fully hydrated sitting inside an air-conditioned home, meanwhile others who are outside queing in order of severety of dehydration and might die anytime without water, and their supply gets cut because you decided to hack into that supply chain and hoard as a future insurance. Also, while you keep 1 cylinder at your home for 3 days, 1 cylinder in a hospital will get filled and used for 3 patients. If you take off a cylinder from the supply chain and block it from getting used asap and refilled multiple times, every minute that cylinder sits unused or empty, it's killing people. The oxygen in hospitals are given to the people after evaluating their condition. Other states which didn't let private people ever buy cylinders, did not have people dying in hospitals without oxygen, you know why? Because those who didn't need it where not hoarding the cylinders.

As a covid survivor from the second wave, I count my blessings everyday. I cannot thank the doctors, nurses, and all medical staff, suppliers, and volunteers for doubling down and helping the country find its feet... For all who passed, people like us will carry you in our thoughts... We must never forget this wave and what it did to the county.

It is such a heartbreaking yet inspiring documentary. The everyday people who made a conscious choice and gave their heart, time and sweat to do good for the greater picture. These great samaritans have showcased the true nature of how God created humans and how we should treat one another. Care, love and respect for one another. It’s also about being United together in facing a crisis rather than being an individual fighting for own human rights for one selfishness. The rest of the world ought to see the lessons learnt in this amazing documentary. God bless all involved.
