Really!! Not true!!! In many cases. We want to live in other people country but some Jamaican don't want anyone in their island. I live in other part of the world and become citizen so l don't worry who want to come here to live as long as they are not criminals. Living amongs a mixed culture is good as you get to try their food and they can bring in fruits we don't have as yet here; but the stupid JA government here don't want to bring in fruits from overseas. We don't even have a high quality varieties of Avocados as Florida do, l never lived there but l travel there frequently, so l know. All you see here is the Simon Avocados and the rest of local foolish pears as Jamaican called them. At the different agriculture places that l know of since returning back to the island, they do most of there crops from seed. I have never seen such stupidity if you are not doing grafting for best quality fruit then why have these nurseries? Orange River farm sucks all they do is mostly seeds, Forestry in Constant Spring do gunip from seeds when most gunip seeds are male. Gunip must bs grafted or air'lay from a good quality tree. I know of other islands that get there fruit trees direct from Florida. There are other caribbean that have a more diversity of people living in them than Jamaica. My first husband wasn't Jamaican and many Jamaican that live overseas are getting married to other people not Jamaican. We all come from some where to the caribbean but human tends to be territorial.

Although the owner did not mention BUFFET, I am suggesting she starts a reasonably priced Indian buffet that offers a wide variety of choices. My experience is that I get many flavors on the tongue, then some delightful aromas in the nostrils. Buffet style may become very popular. A surprisingly large number of treats can be made using Jamaican coconuts, peanuts, milk, sugar, fruits, etc...

This is another good video that probes the culture of people- ie what drives them and what informs how they live, work and contribute to the prevalent culture. The video is humanizing as the content helps us to relate to people and not see them as the other or as the enemy. Instead, we can see the struggles, the goals, the pain that we ourselves experience. Therefore we come to see each other as fellow human beings. Keep bringing us the thoughtful and thought provoking content. We all benefit.

Of course this topic is focusing on recent Indian arrivals to Jamaica, at the same time what is really sad is emigration & the departure of hundred of thousands of Jamaicans amongst those the (indentured) generations of Indian Jamaicans to foreign shores. If you time travelled back 40, 60, 80, 100, 150 + yrs there were far more Indian Jamaicans living in J.A. especially in parishes such as Westmoreland, Clarendon, St. Mary etc. Indians were mixing with other races & the demographic landscape of J.A. was changing visually...No disrespect with my next comment had no Indians, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Europeans etc set foot in Jamaica, J.A. would have been a country/Island similar to Haiti...
@thefacilitatormd20352 күн бұрын

@ I saw differently. A large percentage of businesses in Jamaica are Indian owned and operated. Their time from landing in JA to owning and operating is relatively short. That translates directly to Jamaica’s economy. “He who owns the businesses runs the economy”

The loose use of the term "Indian' needs to be addressed. West India and American-India existed before today's India, which is originally Bharat or Hindustan. Jamaican and other West Indian/ Caribbean populations still carry West Indian American-Indian bloodlines. Why are immigrants and their descendants allowed to call themselves by names that belong originally to a population that is trained not to call itself by those names? What is the reason for the name switching and changes over the centuries? What may have been buried or hidden under all of this identity and name manipulation? There is a problem here.

Jamaica’s motto ‘Out of many, one people’. Almost half of the Jamaican population has has Indian blood running in their veins could be more. The Indians who arrived after slavery was abolished has contributed to the building of Jamaica as well. They didn’t have the opportunity to go back to India to find a wife or husband they assimilate into the Jamaican culture. Marcia Griffith, SuperCat and more. The Hussay festival in Clarendon was held for years buy Indians who were Muslims. There was a radio program on sundays for Indians. Did you do your your research about Jamaica’s history before you did this KZbin channel? I think you should give find a different topic. Just stop!!! Every culture comes in and eventually climb up above us socially and economically. As the chosen people, we are not liked by anyone, discriminated and looked down by others. To answer the question why, we must read Deuteronomy 28….we are Hebrew Israelites, the chosen people. Jamaica is our home but it’s not the “promise land” as stated by the Most High God.
