How Inside Edition Went Undercover to Expose Child Labor at Commune

What does it take to go undercover to expose injustices? Inside Edition producer Zara Lockshin was assigned to investigate claims of child labor at businesses owned by a religious sect called the Twelve Tribes. She discovered children as young as 6 years old working on the group's farm in Cambridge, N.Y. Lockshin believes her "friendly, open-minded" personality and her age made her a good fit for the assignment. InsideEdition.com's Leigh Scheps ( / leightvreporter ) has more.

I did not say that. if you read my post right. Kids need to do chores around the home to learn how to do the things they will have to do for themselves as adults. Having chores does not hurt them one bit. My parents both had chores as much as the kids in this video or more growing up and they turned out fine. My sister and I also had chores growing up at times. My own kids had chores growing up. Just because people have their kids working in a garden or orchard, does not mean that is child labor. Back in the day, kids learned their trades going to work for a master in that trade. Girls even 30 some years back were still learning how to keep a home under the watchful eyes of mothers or grandmothers doing chores while boys learned things too and including chores inside the home. If there is pestiside used in places, no the kids do not need to be around it. And you do not have to beat the kids either to teach them. I did not say that.

I don’t understand how this is child labour. Literally every child who grows up on a farm helps out and it’s actually quite fun and rewarding. It’s the same as setting the table or what not. This is just life on Farm. I worked 8 hours days for free from 5-18 on my family farm. But the moment I turned 18, i got a stake in the family business. Even kids have to earn their keep. Hard work isn't child abuse. It's discipline

I did chores on a farm since I was a kid. Call chores. Training kids for future work. Helping out their family. This lady is insane. . She obviously never did chores as a child.. And this is how you turn out when you don't do chores as a child.

what kind of farm did you lived on where your parents made you work a full work week of hours with no breaks and also made you work in a factory and beat you in the basement of the factory with a bamboo rod if you didn't work or made a mistake? this isn't normal farm work for a kid and this kind of work can hurt a kid really badly.

John Doe What is wrong with you? Parents should want what's best for their children and help them grow instead of just tear them down no matter how harsh the rest of the world can be. It is so unreasonable to beat a child who isn't fully physically or mentally developed. I hope you don't have any children if you have that mindset.
