This is mostly marketing fluff. There are no explanations of the difficulties of actually stitching all of these systems together and how to actually use the data in a reliable, reasonable, and controlled manner without violating basic human rights. The basic technical level is one thing but the issues of data security, authenticity, ownership, and privacy are enormous. Laws need to be put in place to allow humans to appeal decisions made thanks to "IoT" space. The problem is that lawmakers in the west are typically technically clueless and the Chinese are in a constant drive to control their population and ignore privacy rights. The actual benefits of IoT device (Smart anything... are not really smart, not really reliable, and not very trusted) are only at their beginnings and how they ultimately turn out to be useful is yet to be played out. The current hype is enormous (similar to blockchain of years past...) but the practical benefits are still unclear and there are simpler solutions than to put expensive, potentially buggy, and hackable devices everywhere. Applications in the medical field will take decades to develop and deploy in useful ways. Wait until lawyers get their hands on IoT based medical errors... the money to be made by suing IoT manufacturer is getting lawyers salivating. Currently, most trumped up IoT applications are solutions in search of a problems. That is what happens when marketing attempts to drive innovation. Real innovation happens when there is a problem that needs to be solve, not where there is a need to make money.
