I now have more questions than at the beginning of the video: - What's the purpose of making tokens for everything? - What if there's a bug in the software? Who will fix it and how can you avoid people refusing to update and exploiting the bug?
@Chadmanthebadman2 жыл бұрын
This video is actually very misleading in the sense that it uses a buzz word from the tech industry but doesn't even come close to doing the topic justice. 1) Tokens are already in use for companies like LVMH who is the parent company of Louis Vuitton, fine wine and many luxury goods. They use it to ensure every item has a unique block(ID) on the blockchain in order to maintain authenticity throughout the supply chai process and prevent counterfeiting. Technology currently being developed for web 3 is intended to address issues such as slow transaction speed and electricity usage by tech such as bitcoin and Ethereum. As someone who has watched the crypto market since 2017 I can say almost 90% of the tokens available for "investment" is a scam so be careful. However, the technology behind Bitcoin and Ethereum is very solid and can be used for things like smart contracts. There are currently pilot projects in some African countries which uses smart contracts for small loans, insurance and even voting. 2) The way web 3 works is a bit different than say apps you download from the playstore as web 3 apps can be updated and bugs can be fixed without user permission or the user even needing to do anything. These things will be in the "terms of use" for these apps and is the way forward as it makes everyone's lives a lot easier. I get hoe this sounds like users are losing control but its actually quite a tedious and annoying task to have to keep on updating apps and OS given how much we rely on our devices for daily use. Hope this helps and thanks for asking these questions.

First question: it's just like people where collecting stamps or shoes, now they can collect something that anaybody can easily "forge" (I don't get the point apart saying you own an original). The problem with Web3, is that if trully decentralized, then data is stored on chain. For privacy, data is encrypted. But what you encrypted today will almost certainly be decryptable at some point in the future. So, I'm very doubtful of anything big happening. Few use case where it has proven useful: land registry in a corrupt country. The Gov kept record of land ownership on blockchain. People could trust this system to not be corrupt, because it was transparent. So really only useful for public data.

The idea is that a user can take those tokens and use them to build on the net without the need for corporations to providing funding. So an enterprising user could build an organisation that could purely be constructed from those tokens. Every user will have access to those tokens. The key here is to understand that it does not mean a user will not have access when they have no tokens but if that user wants to trade or build they will require them. We also have a plug in our thinking hole in that we cannot imagine such a system with next generation technologies such as vr and ai. What exactly would such a world be?

There are many already-existing real-world parallels to this virtual world that we are trying to create. Question: if there is venture companies who invest on this technology, doesn’t it mean somehow they want to have parts/control this web 3.0 thing for they own good? A.k.a they want to be the central of this new technology? How it called decentralized at the beginning did not fit my logic dude

Do you know torrents? that is decentralized and autonomous system, as long as the internet is working, people can use these protocols. crypto protocols function in the same way, they do not censor because they cannot, they don't judge you or give you special treatment. humans try to conform to protocols, but we are consistently morally weak and fail to do so. and they do not care if you are buying some scamcoins shilled by spice girls, roger veer and evil VCs, thats 100% on you if you got fooled. we invented many things through history, now we invented blockchain, do what you want with it, use your imagination. its not ending world hunger, we can agree on that, nor did it promise to do so.

I like the concept of for example - a film star or sports star effectively issuing tokens or something to monetise their back catalogue and so that to me makes a lot of sense which i think pertains to NFT’s perhaps. If that were an upward trend - then i see directness of investment in some sense becoming larger with view to stock market entities and that sort of thing makes sense. It is i think dependent on the safety and security of the technology that underpins that sort of development but it is interesting for sure.

If you want to understand how revolutionary Web 3 is, consider that one of the technologies integral to it is a compact, personal atomic clock. Atomic clock precision is essential because it allows devices to communicate directly with each other, wirelessly, in an ad hoc or MANET network. That means content doesn’t even need to be “published.” All your content can be hosted, “shared,” right from your device, to everyone in the world. Everyone will be able to curate and display web content on your device using free and open social media apps. Not browsers. Browsers will be a thing of the past. And also, ISPs.
@britannio2 жыл бұрын
Are compact atomic clocks widely available?
@generalralph62912 жыл бұрын
@@britannio Not at all. That is the major breakthrough we need to make MANET internet a reality, and it’s not here yet. Furthermore, even once we have compact, affordable atomic clocks, we will also need a revolution of silicon to take full advantage of it. We are talking about power efficient chips about 1000 times faster than today’s microprocessors or GPUs. This is attainable, but as I understand it will require more research into quantum physics, and Angstrom-sized process manufacturing. All of this is achievable, but it is not here yet.
@user-it5po2dq9w2 жыл бұрын
Having content on any device is already hosting it. So if you want to use your device as host for big files you would need higher storage. Much expensive than buying a cloud server. For browser, they're another apps to ease your experience on internet because all of it can be done by your own created app or even open source linux web interface
@generalralph62912 жыл бұрын
@@user-it5po2dq9w But you don’t understand how revolutionary Web 3 is. The server or the cloud service is a middle-man. You have to publish content right now. When your content is on the server, it is under control of the owner of the server. With Web 3, you don’t publish content, you share it, and it goes directly from your device to the consumer through curation software on their device. Additionally, with Web 3, you don’t even need an internet service provider. Your device is will be connected directly to nearby devices, eliminating the need to pay a monthly fee. You say storage is expensive, but the big companies are buying all the storage right now. In the Web 3 future, consumers will buy and own the storage, not the megacorporations. Even if your device runs out of storage, it is trivial in the Web 3 future to fuse external storage to your device. You could even be paid to buy and maintain cloud storage in Web 3, as users use your drives to swap their files and pay a tiny fee for the service.
@user-it5po2dq9w2 жыл бұрын
@@generalralph6291 you can have isp free network even without web 3. Simplest exam is Bluetooth network but if you want to have it over a large area like wpn, you either go to ISPs again or create your own infrastructure. Only way web 3 layer would add would be decentralized server and databases being operated on blockchain protocols. Otherwise things you point as advantages are already there without even web 3

This doesn't explain any implementation detail whatsoever. Why even bother reporting on it without offering any useful or applicable information? So sites are hosted on ledgers, so to use the Internet we need to connect to a nearby ledger with addresses to packets spread out across the other nodes, then decrypt those chunks to verify their hashes, then compare conflicts from updated content not matching hashes from the local node, then hope nobody hijack my site by hosting a bunch of fraud packets under my domain name since we've scrapped registered DNS.. Or we keep DNS/proxy servers we have and there's no actual ledger implementation it's just a façade? Nothing about web 3 makes sense unless you're an advertising platform or datacenter willing to exploit network traffic (ie people). Just a thought, but maybe this is an idea conjured up by companies who are being legislated against abusing their power? Maybe it's a response to gdpr and not at all in the public's best interest? Just a thought.

@fireflymedium2 жыл бұрын
I feel this video kind of falls a little short; it did try to explain but didn't really do that at all. Web3 is all about diversifying the ownership of the networks. By giving people ownership over their information as well as participating and shaping the evolution of the networks. At the moment, you sign over all your rights to a company to use their platform (KZbin). The company offer this service for free, because they charge someone else the rights to your information. Take google ads for an example. A Web3 approach to this is BAT tokens. Which is a decentralised ad network that can be utilised by companies buying bat tokens to run an ad. When using the brave browser a person can opt into receiving ads based on their browsing habits and will receive these BAT tokens as a reward for using the service which can be used to buy other goods and services or be transferred back into another currency. This is a real-world application that is working at the moment, and there are a hold lot more. The livepeer network is a decentralised network of computer use for transcoding videos the stuff people use for live streaming. We can choose to participate by using the service/network or by becoming apart of these networks as operator (runs a node for the network) or in some cases a delegator (puts capital in like an investment). As these networks develop, more real-world applications and services that people use the larger, more secure and fast they will become. I can not see any industry that will not find a use for this. Welcome to the beginning of Web3.0.
