The Islamic Republic of Iran is, in addition to being the archenemy of the United States and the West, one of the most unknown countries in the Middle East. We are talking about a giant with more than 80 million inhabitants and one of the 20 largest countries in the world in terms of surface area.
A country dominated by a rigid elite of clerics and old-fashioned, radical and fundamentalist jurists, an unyielding layer of power under which lies hidden a completely different country. Can you imagine Iran becoming a kind of Australia in the heart of the Middle East? Would such a thing be possible?
It is possible that by the time you finish watching this video your image of Iran will have changed forever.

Dont believe this video through. Iran's potential always meant US wouldn't give it space to prosper. The idiots in this video claim otherwise. A super power? It just ain't serious. The big issue with Iran is it wants to be independent. The west wants it as a local prostitute as majority of other local countries actually are. Saudis with most expensive army in region doesnt seem to do anything useful with its potential correct me if I'm wrong. Ur country and its population in my opinion cant afford the stupid idea of freedom. My country Bulgaria was in former Warsaw pact. We been with west for enough to know now who was doing more for our benefit. The Soviets made US vassals. The west would end the country. Similar can go for most of the Warsaw pact countries. Huh. It wasnt about ideology at end of day. Iran wont prosper under US sun. A 5min thing maybe but no longterm.

@Truth Seeker Iran didn't sabotage anything, the ones sabotaging are the Americans. Iran is merely trying to salvage the status quo. Iran didn't create Hezbollah in Lebanon, yes it played a major role in funding trining and supporting them, but Iran didn't create Hezbollah nor is it running it. Infact, Iran and the USA are natural allies, and no, Iran does not pose any threat to American interests in the ME but to American allies namely Saudi Arabia and Israel. They are the true reason behind all of what we see over there. The biggest issue with the Americans is the hate they have towards the Iranians for having been the only country to have successfully ridicule them for dacades now, having been able to kick them out take their diplomats hostage and having failed miserably to free them, they have not only stood their ground against the americans, they have also been able to have a steady advance in defencive capabilites and building infrastructure despite all the sanctions.

This is a very simple question because right now, there is no difference between a person who knows how to trade and a novice because they could both earn the same amount in the crypto market. I know many people who have no idea of how the digital market operates but still make millions out of it, I'm an example of such kind of person all you need is an expert that can help you manage your trade portfolio and make massive profits as well.

Iran has been under the strictest of sanctions for over 40 years. Most countries would have collapsed due to these pressures. Nevertheless the Iranian government managed to keep the country in one piece. Far from being mismanaged, the Iranians have been able to produce their own technologies and the production of local goods is highest it has been in centuries. Iran used to be a consumer economy importing most of the goods needed. Under the Shah oil was the only source of income Iran had. Iranian goods today are proliferating throughout the middle east. These include both industrial goods as well as consumer goods. It is unfortunate that this video is misinforming the audience.

Great video. Not surprising to me, at all. While I was living in China for a couple of years, I attended a lot of international industry fairs there. One thing that really surprised me was the Iranian presence at them. Their pavilions were always very large and had a lot of products that gave hints at wider market ambitions. That was over 6 years ago. Today, I believe that they are better poised than ever to develop as a market economy. Their biggest obstacle in the past had been the influence of the U.S. to freeze them out of international trade. But, it looks like this is going to end...thanks, ironically to Mr. Trump who has ignited a popular push to withdraw the U.S. from international affairs. Their remaining problems are being solved by the breakdown and transformation of traditional institutions, like the international banking system. Cryptocurrency is going to enable them to bypass much of the sanctions regimes that they have been subject to. But, more than anything else, they have a young, educated population that is hungry (literally) for prosperity. The same situation existed in both India and China and if both of those socialist, politically unstable, bankrupt, corruption-ridden economies found a way to exploit market capitalism, so can Iran.

I'm from Iran and i'm not living abroad like many other comments so my opinion is a little different, while your video was far better than other videos about Iran but people are still gonna misjudge Iran based on streotypes, One more thing is that you said the government and the regime is the main reason Iran is not reaching the potential, i agree and disagree at the same time, i think that is the second reason, i don't thimg regime is monsterous like you said i think they're mostly incapable of doing their job and the main reason Iran is not reaching it's potenital is how US treats other countries, if you don't do as i say then you are my enemy, if US was not trying to stop Iran from developing Iran would've developed long ago, the regime is also at fault but the main reason? I don't think the regime even could stop the developement if they actively tried to, there are so many recourses in this country it's just ridiculous, but US has crippled the country and it's people there is no way left.

The Shah was a despot in a time where monarchies were in decline everywhere, and 25 years later the people had enough and decided to overthrow him. This led to the Islamic theocracy coming to power. One can only imagine what a democratic Iran could have accomplished over the past 60 years...

It is often overlooked that Iran has for many years been a net importer of petrol (gasoline) As the video covers the petroleum industry is not the dominant force that it is in some other states in the region. Iran has a lot more to offer than oil. As the video noted that Iran has very significant reserves of strategic minerals including iron ore and copper. It also has substantial quantities of coking coal. Giving the right circumstances Iran can become a major economic player. The building of the railway link to the Indian Subcontinent offers considerable trade opportunities. In the longer term the building of a line around Lake Van in Turkey plus the proposed rail link to Nepal from China would potentially allow a link to China. Whilst Iran, Turkey, China and most of Europe uses Standard gauge track. The Indian Subcontinent uses a broader gauge. However it is possible to install a third rail to allow through traffic. It this was to happen the Iranian economy would benefit considerably. Then there is tourism. It is hard to think of anywhere else in the world that has so much to offer. But as the video noted there needs to be significant changes on many levels to allow Iran to reap its potential. One day it will happen.

@nikolasmacedonites917

@@rmaroun yes you are right about both of them being highly disfunctuonal and problematic religious countires, but Iran is much less obsessed with Saudi Arabia than the other way round and that is purely based on the geopolitics. But also I must say that the Saudis are much more superstitious than the Iranian regime and from what I've personally observed Iranians as a whole are much less religious than the Saudis and come from a multi ethnic multi religious society.
@rmaroun
@rmaroun 3 жыл бұрын
@@nikolasmacedonites917 while your perception might be a fair reflection of the Iranians you know, I've lived in KSA and worked in Iran and tragically the latter state has been on a downhill trajectory for decades. We're not talking about which people you'd like to have a coffee with. Tehran is so polluted most expats get sick in their 1st week, signs of poverty are everywhere, and the serious brain drain has left the country void of its rich history. Yes, maybe the Iranians you've met are open-minded and I myself am lucky to have great Persian family friends from various sects, but unfortunately none of whom feel safe in Iran. Unless they're pretending to be Shiaa, and have a return flight booked back to their new adopted country. From weaponised Houthis to building a Levant based army also known as Hezbollah, if anyone is obsessed with regional dominance it is Iran. The government, not the people. Hard for Iranians to do much about it, esp since the 70's the regime has been brutally killing off intellectuals, minorities, and basically anyone that objects them. From the 1988 purge that saw 30,000 Iranians murdered by their own government to the series of assassinations that lasted well into the late 90s. Even in 2019, young Iranians protesters were met with a similar fate as previous objectors to the regime, imprisonment or death. Their families were not even allowed to mourn their loss in fear of retaliation. On the other hand, Saudi is on a fast track to nation-wide reform, tuition is covered for any citizen willing to study abroad, and their oil wealth is being invested in future industries like smart farming and fintech. Yes, both have been impacted negatively by historical dogma, but through a top down approach Saudi Arabia is headed in the right direction and Iran has a long way to go before it sees another cultural renaissance. Of course, I hope it is sooner than later because Iran's bulldogs have done a number in this region, including Lebanon which is sinking into one of the biggest global crisis episodes that will see thousands of refugees flooding Europe. So yes, I'm sure the Iranians you know are awesome - the world is full of them. But for the sake of the world, let's hope that country gets its ducks in order.

You can say what you want but Iran was better off under Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. One of the biggest faults of my own country, besides supporting at least tacitly some of his more repressive policies, was a lack of understanding of and an inconsistent policy which seemed to change with every new president we had. Iran very conceivably could've reverted back into a true constitutional monarchy once his son Reza became shah, since the elder Pahlavi was dying of cancer. After all, Iran was easily the most progressive country in terms of women's rights, with women being employed as judges, lawyers, and professors. That isn't even to mention that they were allowed basic rights like driving, wearing the clothing that they wanted to wear, getting a divorce, and more while women still aren't able to do most of those things in Saudi Arabia.
