This is 19 gauge galvanizeed sheet metal. That man is one good welder and I mean real good to pull that off.

how are you welding so much without a mask and not blind ? my health is to important to weld inside a tank like that but you have some skill awesome work. how long can a tank like that last ? i bought a 960 gallon tank paid a lot more than i think it was worth im thinking ill just make my own next time.

Yes, unfortunately safety is not observed and the mask is not used, but the speed and skill of the welder is high and these tanks last for years and are used.

he closed his eyes everytime the electrode struck the metal. happened when doing welds while the free hand can't hold the welding mask.

I don't understand much about welding, but does your welding wire need to be anti corrosion and rust? and the wire should be food graded so you don't turn water toxic?

That's a good question. The chemical composition of electric welding electrodes, as far as I know, lacks toxic elements for drinking water, and even if it does, it is very small. Electrochemical activity of various metals causes iron or steel to break down and enter water if it is corrosive, which is not toxic. Answer to question one: Zinc coating on steel sheet dissolves due to sacrifice and prevents corrosion of other metals.

Some body get this man a proper auto shade welding helmet. Nowadays you can order them and have them delivered any where in the world. But if the factory owner wants to save a few dollars he might think it is a good idea to provide one for this excellent worker. When his health is sending him home you will not be able to find another guy like that. Also stick welding on water tanks like this is not a good idea if it is a water tank for potable water. These electrodes make welds that corrodes easily making the tanks life considerately shorter.
