2 things that actually save Sonic: 1. Gloves 2. Fun Fact, hedgehogs are natural ammune/ resistant to most poison. This allows them to not take poison damage and partake in one of their favorite past times… LICKING FOAM ON THEIR BACK!!! no fr. Hedgehogs for some reason whenever some new is discovered they chew up whatever it is (tending to be poisonous) until it’s foam, then they proceed to lick it on their quills. He's fishing in a virtual world. It probably just has the appearance of the creature without any of its real abilities. How I imagine this works is that all the creatures and objects that Sonic can fish share the exact same coding. Even though it looks like you're fishing something different, internally, you're just fishing the same thing but with a different appearance/model tied to it. So basically that octopus isn't actually poisonous. Internally, it's the exact same as any other harmless fish or object you can get, and the fact that it looks like an octopus is just for aesthetics.

It seems like enough people have talked about the octopus bite, so instead I'll share a funny story about my uncle. He likes swimming in the ocean a LOT. One day he feels something crawling in his trunks. Of course he yanks it out and throws it away, turned out it was a blue ring octopus. While just the bite is deadly, even holding one is still very ill advised. It was a wholly terrifying expierience. You could easily wonder how this thing had not bit him, let alone Sonic the Hedgehog. Imagine the octopus clout you would get from biting the blue blur. My uncle is Australian. I am not.

Well..... (Spoilers for the Final Horizon) In the final horizon update, talking to anyone as anyone reveals tidbits and lore for the Starfall Islands. One of them involves Big the Cat being in cyberspace. This Big isn't the real Big. He's been recreated from Sonic's memories like the green hill and chemical plant cyberspace stages. So none of the fish are real either. That explains the glitches in the water and no Froggy in sight.
