After looking for the 1910, for a few years, finally found three bottles on Monday. 😃 (New bottling) I covered the empty glass and smelled it in the morning, and it smells like maple syrup. Excellent Bourbon!

Old Forester said the juice is the same, there shouldn't be a difference if they were both new bottles, but that one is damn near empty. Yes the new 1910 label has been open for weeks, BUT that old label bottle has WAY more air in it, and that plays a huge factor in flavor. I have a near empty Monkey Shoulder and a fresh Monkey Shoulder and they are wildly different. Its because one is more empty, more air, equals more evaporation etc. Same thing as leaving a glass of whiskey out for an hour, it'll taste different than when you first poured it. Love the new labels, very classy, clean lookin'

Totally agree with the bottle content level and the "air" to liquid ratio to time thing. It is a reality. I wish people who say they know whiskey and have channels about whiskey would realize this fact. I mean, it has even been said regarding a "dusty", so why wouldn't an opened bottle and it's level of content also be a thing? Weird. It kind of blows my mind they don't think this is a real thing and yet claim to be experts of the spirit.

After y'alls 1920 video I went to my usual stores to try and find the old label and got a few. Called my brother and he was able to find one and put it aside at his store. Haven't tried the new label but damn that old 1920 is so good. I remember liking the 1910, so I'm excited to try the new lable.

I needed this video! Just bought my 1st bottle of 1910 last week (old label bottle) to make some 1915, which was very good. But when I drank the 1910 last night it has a bit of a sour oak flavor. Will have to find a new label bottle and give it another try.

after I saw your 1920 video, I saw people on reddit absolutely RIPPING apart people that had gone into a store asking specifically for the new label. saying all sorts of things like "they were everything that's wrong with bourbon" and "fking morons". I had bought a new bottle by then to try against the old, and I 100% agree there was a big difference. but I guess some people just refuse to believe it. linked to your video, someone responded saying the results were meaningless because the bottles weren't open for the exact same time at the exact same level. so there you have it, apparently when you compare bottles, they have to be EXACTLY the same level and time opened. regardless, actually happy to hear you liked the new one more for this bottle. I was always a tad disappointed with 1910 based on the reputation of it when it first came out, thinking it felt a bit flat and funky for what I was expecting (still good, just not as good as I hoped).

Great comparison! We tasted the 1910 (new bottle) up against some competitors (including Blanton’s) and it was great. Got a lot of those Bananas Foster notes and deep oak flavors too.

Guys, the 1915 blend of 1910/1920 is legit. Try it. Also 1913(more 1910) and 1917(more 1920) are also very good. Let it sit for 2-3 weeks and come back to some vanilla, cherry glazed pie deliciousness with a little spice at the finish that the 1910 doesn’t give. Also 1910 and Woodford Double Oaked blend is good too but gotta dial it in a little.

For the 1897 video, you should do one glass old 1897, one glass new 1897, and one glass OF Signature/100 proof. Same proof, same mashbill, you can see how the value-priced one holds up, and it might help you gauge how different the old and new 1897 labelings are.

I've noticed a bottle getting that low and staying open for a lengthy period of time also leads to more astringency, so it could also just be that. Either way though glad to hear the new 1910 is just as (or more) solid as the old.

the whiskey dont seem to hold up well once they hit the 1/3 bottle mark. My 1920s always turn into super thin cherry cough syrup when they get to much air.

Of course, after your 1920 video the entire row series disappeared from 6 ABC stores I went to (usually 4-6 of each on every shelf) so i don't have a choice but to buy the new series... I love that you guys are doing these comparisons! However, these are batched products at baseline. Without blinding one of each batch of old and new (good luck reading laser codes), how do we know that your results are not just random sampling error? New 1920 tastes very good to me, without blinding (old labels are long gone in my area). Matt at ADHD thought the new one was better. Perhaps he got new batch that was better than the batch you used?

Hey guys! I was just at Old Forester doing the distillery tour a few weeks ago and ask this exact question about any difference in formula, barrel, conditions, etc... I mentioned video reviews indicated the old 1920 was better (you had not done this one yet). I spoke to one of the managers of the product and she said it is absolutely the same recipe, barrel type, process, conditions, etc... She said literally the only thing that changed was the label. So with that said, my guess is that it's a slight variance between bottles or maybe lots/barrels. Maybe they were in different rickhouses or possibly variations in temperature over the 4-6 years or whatever they are. It could also be possible that different bottles of old 1920 / 1910 from year to year taste slightly different. It would be interesting to do that comparison...say a 2018 bottle of 1920 to a 2020 old label bottle.

FYI - I work for one of the distributors in MI that had Brown Forman, and straight from the company was told the only difference is the label. The liquid in the bottle has not changed.

It's a batched/blended product though. They try to blend to the same profile sure, but there are always bound to be differences.

While stating that "dusty" whiskey, that has not yet been opened, but has been sitting around for some time, tastes different... yet a bottle that has been sitting for some time with a mere couple ounces in it should taste like a newly opened bottle, is ridiculous. Air in a bottle, the time it has been sitting around, and the bottle's content level are all factors that change the flavor and aroma. These are facts. Don't be arrogant like the "sommalier" and Rex from the Tribe. Texas whiskey sucks, and wealthy west coast transplants to the south who think they are Texans, distill crap whiskey, and drink mostly Scotch suck as well. These are all facts.
