I have the same question about Edelkrone as well.
@TomAntos5 жыл бұрын
Edelkrone is good but can't take as much weight as the Rhino arc 2. Also I prefer the big built in battery on the arc. You can do long timelapses with the Edelkrone you need lots of small batteries for slider and camera or another extra battery hack.

Edelkrone is really bad quality gear. Every single piece we got from them has problems
I’m thinking of stripping up from Arc to Arc II now that I have the ProRes RAW upgrade for my Nikon Z6 HDMI to Ninja V - at 15lbs - seems like I could keep this all in a cage on the Arc II and I’m good to go... right? I’m also liking the Focus unit since I am using legacy Nikon lenses (FTZ) and setting focus manually for stages shots ie I know where I need to focus before I shoot.
@panamouse61785 жыл бұрын
I had an Edelkrone version and when the full compliment of mechanicals moved over the rails, as it swung out to the ends, the weight of the unit would cause the rails to bend slightly enough, but you would see the horizon line bend. Does this set up have the same issue or do the rails present a rock solid horizon line when that unit meets the far right or left ends ?
@KobusGevelspar4 жыл бұрын
All setups you use with some weight (camera/lens) and a single tripod will have this issue. Using two tripods or the special extra legs will take care of the problem.

@dragoscondrea73075 жыл бұрын
You are using the 42 inch cable for the 24 inch slider :) This is why it gets stuck. My biggest problem with this one, I got it 2 days ago, it is that It DOES have jiters. Even in your footage it is noticeble. It is not micro jitters, but it still jitters. I would have to make more tests and find the perfect balance, it is very workable even in this situations, but you will not be able to do any macro shots. It is getting very noticable on every lens over 50-70mm. For the tilting up and down problem look in the settings and chage the camera size option to large, not normal. The standard normal one it is designed for cameras of maximum 5 pounds. Everething above 5ponds you should select the large camera size.
@alexmainwaring5 жыл бұрын
I'm noticing these jitters as well. Do you think this is firmware thing that can be fixed or just the nature of the slider?
@ivansmotrov85975 жыл бұрын
Hi, try tightening the slider belt, I had the same issue with my rihno slider. It fixed my jitters. If that's not enough try mounting the slider on two tripods on either end. Max Yuryev tested one of these and did not have jitters, hence I assume it's how you set and tune it.

Thank you for your in-depth reviews.. I've been looking for a 3-axis slider and may try this, but I wanted to know, does the motor in this cause any vibrations in the footage? I bought an Ifootage shark mini, and the motors caused horrible vibrations in the footage, even with a light camera and perfectly balanced. So I had to send that one back. You've reviewed the Ifootage slider, so I was wondering how the motors on this one compare with that?
@TomAntos5 жыл бұрын
Yeah the shark slider did have micro vibrations in many cases. Seemed to me like it was an issue with heavier cameras. The Rhino Arc 2 hasn't shown any problems with micro vibration. It's because it uses a normal rubber belt system which dampens any shakes. The shark slider mini has a great idea of using a belt less slider but that is also what caused the vibration since it hard metal gears grinding against each other.
@keller22795 жыл бұрын
@@TomAntos I appreciate the reply. Yeah, that Ifootage would vibrate even with a BM Pocket 4k (no cage or external battery), and a Tokina 11-16 (light lens), all balanced perfectly. I had to do very slow moves in order to not get those vibrations. While more expensive, this does look better made and beefier, so I may pick one up.. will be sure to use your coupon code if I do. Very good to hear it doesn't have the same micro vibrations. Again, I appreciate all your reviews and LUTs and whatnot.

Hi Tom, sincere question: Did you warp stabilize in post any of the shown footage? Dont take it personally, but the shot of grave stone is just terrible wobbling, vibrating and even the speed its pretty unequal. It seems, that all these devices, doesn't matter, how expensive they are struggle with this a lot.
@TomAntos5 жыл бұрын
Dont worry Radek, I dont take it personally. I didn't create this slider and I don't care if anyone buys it or not. I reviewed it because people requested it. Didn't do any stabilization on it. That shot you mentioned was the worst I found this slider to be so I thought I would include the shot so everyone can see... the shake is mainly because I used that heavy lens DZO 20-70 and I was zoomed in all the way at 70mm on a M43 sensor with the slider going full speed. The lens or the camera doesnt have any stabilization either. It was also very cold and very windy on that day. If you were to shoot that at a slower speed or with a wider lens then you would not see any shaking. Like you can see in the other shots. In short is it perfect? Nope. No tool is. But trust me if you are looking for a motorized slider this is the best one out there in terms of the smoothness. That is why I am so happy with it and keep it. You will see more videos of me using it for sure. Ive tried the Edelkrone and SharkSlider Mini and even the older Kessler Crane sliders and none were as smooth. Than again you can't expect it to be perfect in every scenario unless you are talking about one of those fully robotic arms that can move the camera with super precision... of course those cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
@radekprusa34055 жыл бұрын
@@TomAntos First - thank you for such a deep answer. And generally for this review. To clear my point of view a little - I'm looking for some device like this for commercial architecture shots. As I'm going deeper with investigate these devices to buy the best one for me, I'm finding out, that none of them is really smooth and problemloss, as the manufacturers trying to show them. This disappointed me a little, but OK, life is about fight with obstacles. I've just got shocked, how KZbin is full of completely unhonest paid reviews, which are just another form of advertising (this is one of the reason, why I am here on your channel, because I find your stuff here mostly "user honest") I appreciate, that you implement also non perfect shots in the video without trying polish them. This is, why I asked about warp stabilizing. Glad to get better impression about reality. Thanks again!
@KobusGevelspar4 жыл бұрын
@@TomAntos Hey Tom! I also took the plunge and bought the Rhino system. Any micro jitter you encounter is gone with a simple stabilise in premiere, you don't even need the warp, only the x and y and very small crop. Also really big influence was the belt tension, if you have it too high you'll notice the stepper motor vibrations at slower speeds. I think it is a great system and can't wait for the next major software update.

I have been researching motorised sliders for a while, nearly bought into Edelkrone because of the fantastic features the app has but did not like that the head could use Sony or Canon batteries but the slider could only use Canon, then I saw negative reviews beginning to hit YT instead of just the sponsored one's and hesitated. Now I have seen this and another very positive review of the Arc 2 but at its price point (possibly more then Edelkrone) it is lacking somewhat in its motion control, certainly I will not buy without an Android App and it definitely needs more than 2 Keyframes. Thanks for a comprehensive review and I will be keeping an eye out for updates, at least for now my wallet can stay in my pocket.

@Grasseatereu5 жыл бұрын
hey m8 - When you get the headplus from edelkrone you should pick the V-mount battery slot for the headplus, its more than enough for anything you want to do - the smaller parts can use canon batteries only or sony's - the lp-e6n can keep most of those going for hour on end, and if u need even more it's not an issue as you can recharge batteries faster than you can use them, and since it is repeatable shots you can pause the shot and change batteries and continue :) My main issue with the arc is that the camera is not centered over the pan axis, and the lower weight than the pro set from edelkrone. The thing i like more is the customisable/upgradeable slider lengths. and ability to slide in a tilted state as it does give options on midsized setups to do more different types of motions that the edelkrone slide module can give you, but that edelkrone does not advice you to do.
@SteveT__0015 жыл бұрын
@@Grasseatereu Yes its a difficult choice, I hadn't realised that there was a V mount option, that along with Sony batteries for the slider would work for me. The option of tilted and even vertical moves with the Arc is an attraction, something you cannot do with the Sliderplus. The SliderOne however will do vertical but not with the Head One unit. No noticeable parallax unless you are inches away from the subject. Shark slider mini is only good for very small cameras. In my use even with the Sony a6500 and a cinema lens it struggles and produces micro jitter. Also the batteries can be a problem on the shark slider when doing long timelapses
