How do you feel about this system vs the edelkrone version of the same thing?
@PeterKertz5 жыл бұрын
I had the Edelkrone and switched to Rhino. Edelkrone is a very nice product...for smaller cameras. If you want to think about using a C300, or similar, forget it. Mine frequently had some tiny little movements, jitters, or bowing. Rhino doesn't have that issue. This is just my experience using both with the C300M2.
@Laowu_MY4 жыл бұрын
Which motor you are using ?
@goodeggproductions5 жыл бұрын
I'm also wondering why you didn't mention Edelkrone. I was an early adopter with their motion control system and they constantly supported their system through firmware updates and app development. They even upgraded the head and slider modules for me at zero cost a year after I purchased. Their V2 modules are far better. I'm not shilling for them, but I'm just wondering why you chose to go with a crowd funded upstart rather than the company that has been established for years in the affordable motion control systems. This Rhino appears to have some interesting features not found on Edelkrone, like the joysticks on the unit and the screen to let you know what's happening. The face recognition just seems like a gimmick. But the Edelkrone works wirelessly with its components. So no ethernet cables getting in the way. Plus, it folds flat to put in a bag, although the Rhino seems pretty compact itself. And even though you say that the battery lasts "forever", I like the Edelkrone solution better since it can accept LP-E6 battery plates or Sony F-type plates, or AC in. At least the Rhino system offers a high torque slider motor option for incline shots. Edelkrone offers no such option. Their motors are not recommended for more than a few degrees incline because of how you can just push it to where you want to make target keys. Sorry for hijacking your video comments, but people wanted to know differences between the two systems.
@lorduvaltv2745 жыл бұрын
sound like you prefer Edelkrone but didnt hesitate to list several reason why someone would pick Rhino. Great comment! 👍🏿
@rogerhuston82875 жыл бұрын
I think Edelkrone has the lead when you talk Ecosystem. You can do a whole lot with the parts. Rhino is more specialized. Yes you. An use a DSLR, but this system can handle a Red no problem. The direct control with the joysticks can replace a fluid head for some use cases plus give you the ability for repeat ability. My question is can it record a movement and then replay it exactly. Not create a movement with way points and then replay that, but record a clip of a manual operation then replay that exactly? Personally, I think the Arc system can support many more use cases. Just the automatic ease in and out is fantastic for a new camera operator who doesn't have a lot of experience with a fluid head. You can do all the manual movements that you can't do with any other system plus all of the automated.
@gabenoll5 жыл бұрын
Having used both Edelkrone and Rhino's motion control systems, they are quite different. Definitely not comparing apples to apples. Edelkrone is quality, has a great ecosystem, and their slider and motion control system are proven. However, it cannot support much weight at all, especially when considering bigger slider moves that shift almost all of the weight to the end of the unit. Not a flaw in the unit, just an issue if wanting to accomplish those spoecific moves. Also, Rhino is a rather respected manufacturer for a while now as well, and put a lot of R&D into this product.
@edrugmanmusic5 жыл бұрын
I’m curious as to how repeatable the moves are on the Rhino. The Edelkrone seems to mention repeatable motion control for compositing on their site... the rhino doesn’t really make much mention of this... has anyone tried to composite shots using the rhino or have any experience of how close they compare in this respect? The weight handling and speed options appeal to me for the rhino, the restriction of only 2 key frames in the app is a worry to me. The Edelkrone I like the smaller form slider but worry about any angling that it might not cope with as well as the sheer weight of the system (sleek it is not)....
@goodeggproductions5 жыл бұрын
@@edrugmanmusic I'll tell you this much. You better have a REALLY good tripod for the Edelkrone system. I have a beefy Manfrotto with a 75mm bowl and I need the strength of King Kong to wrench it down so it won't shift toward the extremes of the travel of the slider. And that was only using a GH5 and a monitor on the head module. It's a heavy system. But with that weight comes some stability.

The framing of my shot drifted side to side. It always landed where I wanted but never kept the product centered. Hoping they add more keyframes soon. Two just isn't enough for some jobs. Cant wait to use it on an interview though where that drift won't matter as much.

I think buying a gimbal is a better investment if you want motorized pan&tilt. You can get an adapter for the Ronin S that allows you to mount it without the battery (you power it externally), making it very compact. You can get motion controlled shots, timelapses and all the good stuff, and also have a gimbal at the same time. The price difference is just massive.
