The thing is that Isabel’s videos are art, along with everything else you state so very well. It is precisely the slow, real passing of time in her videos that is what has drawn so many of us to them.

Your video is so refreshing. In a world where it is more the norm to exhibit jealousy and tear down others, you are taking this opportunity to build someone else up. To show appreciation for someone else's art, and talent. The world needs more people like you.

I follow her and enjoy her videos but it's a fantasy. She didn't have to buy this land, her parents own it. She doesn't have to pay taxes on it. Her parents do. Not HAVING to work gives her the free time to do this that most people don't have. And she's not that isolated. She still puts on a good yt program.

How is it a fantasy? She lives there. Not having to pay taxes or buy land doesn't make her life a fantasy. And she does work.
@TexasHomesteaders
@TexasHomesteaders 3 жыл бұрын
@@laurieg673 The fantasy is that in order to afford that land and lifestyle, she'd have to work at more than a coffee shop (can't remember where her job was) especially in Washington state. It's one thing to live on someone else's land and live there rent free and your money can go towards what you want and quite another to have to spend your free time, while still holding a job, learning a trade or going to college to be able to afford that very nice land. So anyone wanting to recreate this scenario is either going to have to know someone with this kind of land who will let them live there for free or barter or work their butts off until they can afford to leave the 50 (or more) hour work week and still afford the land and taxes. I owned 30 acres in the cheaper state of Arkansas in the Ozarks and even then her lifestyle would be hard to maintain without someone working long hours to pay the bills. Now that she's monetized, she should get sponsors and do well.

I don’t think that she is in the middle of no where. Is she not on her parents mountain ranch? I enjoy her videos, but grew up in an off grid, no convenience, land dependent food source. So my viewpoint, is one of a life lived off grid.

You are correct. She is not living "off-the-grid" alone in the mountains. Her tiny house is on her parent's property, therefore she can get utilities like electricity from them. I'm sure your life was much harder and harsher than Isabella's. I've watched quite a few of Isabella's and videos and they are well done cinematically, props to her for enjoying a semi-solitary existence in nature, but it's definitely not off-the grid.

You are correct. Her parent's house is right next door with all the amenities for her to use. Her father is a building contractor. However, she never shows this or talks about it, instead giving the impression she's living out in the boonies and being off grid. Regardless of how good her vids are, the lack of transparency is a problem for me. Just saying!

NOTE 📌 It's been a few days since I uploaded this and I JUST realized the Intro/ thesis statement didn't get included & the first 30 seconds of the video is missing. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Sorry if the beginning seems abrupt (that was not intentional). Here's what it should have said: "In the past year, Isabel Paige has quickly become my favourite youtuber on the platform. Not only that, I would go as far to say probably my favourite person in all of social media. If you’ve never heard of Isabel, she is a KZbinr based in Washington state who lives off the grid in a tiny home in the mountains. Her videos are a cross between a cinematic & vlog style & portray her daily life as a young person trying to live a sustainable & simple life. Now I’ve never personally been the fan girl type, but as a fellow creator I have to say there are so many things I admire about Isabel & I am not alone in that sentiment. Isabel’s videos have very distinct characteristics that make them exceptionally unique. " ⚠️ Also, if you're not a fan of Isabel's, thats totally cool. Every creator can't be liked by everyone. With that said, this video probably isn't for you either. 🤷🏼‍♀️This is not a drama video, so if that's the kinda thing you're looking for you will be disappointed.

On her IG story highlights, she addressed some of these questions publicly. Her parents cabin gets wifi. Her bf is in the studio they built working on music. also atm I'm pretty sure they're abroad. so yeah I dunno, the answers aren't really that hard to find if you watch her videos regularly. Yes. I think a lot of these points made in the video are true. Isabel is talented and she is good at story telling and creating beautiful videos. However, she didn't know she could monetize her YT videos b/c she doesn't need money. She has money. Her family helped her build and finance her tiny home and studio. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is often overlooked or ignored. Isabel has certainly not be transparent about that and she doesn't have to be. But people need to factor that in when being so amazed with Isabel. Not having to worry about money does free up a lot of mental space and is absolutely a game changer in being able to live a beautiful life. How many other people could create beautiful videos if they didn't have to worry about money. I don't say any of this in a critical way as I enjoy Isabel's videos. But perspective is key. I

Please look closer...much of her content is essentially a scripted reality show. It's not real and there are lots of ?'s around her content. None of it adds up. I somehow ended up w/one of her 'hiking' videos. The things she did and how she allegedly did them was flat out dangerous. Her cookbook is also wholly plagiarized. Please do your research prior to applauding someone pretending to be something, they obviously are not....at all. Sad, but true. As a 'real hiker' everything about that hiking video was way off. There are no 20 mile trails in regards to where she went. Her clothing was not appropriate to be hiking in the Mts @ altitude. She claims she encountered a bear but doesn't even mention what kind, what happened, nothing. Doesn't appear she even knew how to set up a tent and she took a huge backpack w/pots & pans and a huge water filter, etc. For a pot of rice ? For an overnighter ? I saw no sign of a quilt or sleeping bag. Regardless - whether or not she is just plain stupid or pretending, what she put out there is plain dangerous. You feel altitude...she didn't even mention it. She is a storyteller to be sure. She's totally fake ! I liked it better before I even knew who she was....

Hello Harmonie I saw your thumbnail for this video a while back and thought nothing of it until recently I decided to click on it and read a few of the comments. Understandably your comment section has attracted the attention of Jasmine Cherry viewers and they are trying to bring light to some of the incomplete truths that Isabel shows in her videos. Can I ask if you had watched the original Jasmine Cherry’s critique videos regarding Isabel’s activities and lifestyle before making your video? As someone who has seen all of Isabelle’s videos, she is indeed a very good videographer and ‘storyteller’, I have watched her from the first video. She has certainly tapped into a topic and KZbin market that appeals to the masses and may I add her timing was lucky due to covid lockdown’s worldwide. This said I feel Jasmine’s concerns and views towards Isabel were valid and personally did not diminish Isabel as a person but more on her ‘stories’, how these did not add up or portray who she really is off/on screen. Granted these are ‘story’s’ but Isabel has added a lot of mixed truths, this has confused her viewers and they are questioning her. The following is a response from Isabel to Jasmine (which has been seen in Anna’s analysis video) - “Hey Jasmine, I appreciate you trying to raise awareness of the manipulation that occurs over social media, which of course is a very problematic subject that should be addressed more. The problem I have is a lot of what you stated here is actually quite false. I don’t appreciate you spreading false information about my life. I try very hard to remain transparent as possible and to show the life I love to live. Thats it. I’m not trying to convince people to live like me, I’m simply showing my joy of life to others. To find fault in this is honestly very disheartening and really hurt my feelings”. This comment towards Jasmine attracted well over 500 subsequent comments in that thread including mine, a lot of them questioning Isabel to clarify the part on what information presented by Jasmine was ‘false’, Isabel kept silent and within a short time she removed this comment including all the others who questioned her?? Isabelle does make beautiful videos and portray’s to be a happy go luck, peaceful, joyful person yet her videos are very much cultivated to image this aesthetic lifestyle without showing the real practicalities of living including the real expenses to afford this lifestyle, less we not forget this is indeed all for KZbin views and revenue. The problem I have is in her comment section, her viewers admire and treat her with over positive comments to the point of toxic and she can do no wrong even when she has done things that are actually illegal in her videos. (I have evidence) Each to their own but once you peek behind the veil of Isabelle’s (and parents) real life which the information is freely attainable online to what she shows you on KZbin there is more than meets the eye of a 24 year old who has achieved a lot in a few years compared to others.

Hey peter - thanks for being so respectful in your comment, i appreciate your approach. But i gotta be honest - i don't care about any of it (the drama, the haters, ect). If people don't enjoy what a creator puts out, they don't have to consume their videos or support them. When somebody's whole personality becomes an effort to tear other folks down under the thin veil of "criticism" I think it's pretty dumb. These internet people gotta move on & focus on their own lives & contributions to the world. I don't care to comment on it any further or debate. Not interested, don't care.

@@HarmonieV thank you Harmonie. while I respect your ‘dont care’ attitude, the fact is you cared enough to make a nice video regarding Isabel Paige without gathering enough evidence to make your own judgement and letting others theirs. What I am trying to say is… it seems that you care more for the creators content rather than the actual practicalities, efforts and expenses to live her lifestyle? Judging buy the concerns and comments on Isabel’s own videos there are a lot of people voicing their bewilderment on how this young woman can afford half of the things she is doing on what was her yoga, waitressing careers when prior to her KZbin channel she was travelling in style around the world when she was only 18-19 (fact). Once again I do commend her for putting out and producing great and beautiful vlogs, the ethics and accountability of her recent activities do have to be questioned.

Isabel is a liar and if you go and check Jasmine Cherry’s recent video about this, the evidence is made clear. She is also not as nice as she seems. I wish she was but she isn’t. Sometimes I think it’s naivety but also a lot of her deception is on purpose to get views. You seem like a great girl who actually worked to get what you have, so well done. That is not the case with Isabel. Her stories and love of the simple things lose all their meaning and enjoyment once you realise that. The quality of her cinematography is that way because she is NOT the one doing it. Other KZbinrs don’t do it because it takes training to get that way. Have you never noticed the colour grading is a special technique that takes film training? She never answers any questions about how she films and edits, because she isn’t the one who does it. Everyone else on KZbin works hard on their own video edits except her, and then she takes the credit for it, just like so much of everything else she is doing.

Hi Sasha, thanks for sharing your opinion but i fully disagree with you on this. I've watched both of Jasmine Cherry's videos on the topic and what i took away from them was much different. First of all, I don't see Jasmine as having an objective opinion. Her whole case was that Isabel is "manipulating" people by "hiding" the fact that her family owns the land, ect, ect. However, many people (myself included), don't agree with that statement, because I don't feel Isabel has tried to hide that she's had help. It's been implied. Most viewers are aware that's she's had help & still think what she's doing is impressive. Even with those advantages, the work she's put into all of these projects is still remarkable & something that people enjoy (and support). Secondly, intent is also important & I don't believe that Isabel's intent has ever been to "manipulate" people or "lie". She just seems like a young girl making films about a transformative part of her life. In my opinion, Jasmine came off as pretty aggressive in her first video & honestly kinda seemed jealous about the praise Isabel was getting from her fanbase. It seems like Jasmine has developed a pretty parasocial POV & has made the assumption that she actually "knows" this creator , when in reality she is just 1 of 500,000 other subscribers/ viewers. Jasmine was the aggressor in creating the online drama & is now playing the victim for the backlash she's receiving. I don't believe she should be cancelled, harassed or anything, but in the act of shading people online you run the risk of rubbing people the wrong way. And if she is being harassed or threatened, she should be dealing with the police ... not trying to get the online creator (who is a complete stranger) involved. Finally, as a fellow-creator, I think the idea that Isabel doesn't shoot & edit her own videos is pretty random. I can look back at Isabel's body of work over the past few years and see the slow progression & improvement. It wasn't like she started on Day 1 and was suddenly as good as she is today. It was gradual. Also, I have the same camera as Isabel (I'm pretty sure she shoots with a Fujifilm X-t2) & from a gear perspective it takes really beautiful images, so achieving those shots isn't incredibly hard if you have a good eye & understand frame rate. Same with colour grading. Anyone can watch a youtube tutorial and learn to colour grade. Just most people don't care enough or take the time to learn. I think it's cool that she does take the time to learn and gradually improve her videos over time. She's a "do it yourself" kind of person for almost everything (as far as I can tell), and I don't see why she would make an exception with her videos. I don't see any evidence of her having an outside editor or somebody filming for her? I think this comment is baseless. I mean you're entitled to your own opinion, but those are all the reasons why i firmly disagree. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@HarmonieV Isabel is a bad person for allowing Jasmine’s life to be threatened and not saying anything about how she doesn’t condone it. Other KZbinrs have a clear progression of film development over at least 5 years. There is a clear jump between her earlier videos and then sudden cinematography perfection- probably at the moment her dad decided to invest in her business. Any film student can tell you how long it takes to perfect those story telling techniques which doesn’t make sense since Isabel was engaged in so many other tasks. It’s quite obvious how difficult it would be for her to be filming those long shots on her own, going up and down the hill over and over again with heavy equipment. I won’t argue Jasmine’s points here - people can just watch her video and make up their own minds. Isabel is an offense to real youtubers like yourself and to people who really live off the grid. I also really dislike that she has created so many aggressive, crazed fans who are so young they don’t know any better. I also want to say in her most recent video it’s clear she is using a full size tripod which is very heavy to be doing what she is doing. This is not jealousy this is just anger at being lied to. I personally am very happy to see people’s success and I wish you the best. Indeed I would never want to be a person like her.

 @Sasha Pima Are you a film student? I mean thank you, I appreciate your kind words towards me.. but I still disagree & I'm not 100% sure if you have the experience/ knowledge to make an informed claim about her filming capabilities. Her videos are high quality, but what she's doing isn't impossible or hard to believe (I'm saying this as someone with film experience). And even if isabel was "lying" as you're suggesting, i personally don't care. I still enjoy the content, it's better than most things on youtube. Though, I don't think she is lying & I certainly don't think she's a bad person. Majority of online hate/ drama is sooo unnecessary, & it usually boils down to someone exploiting a youtubers name for attention. The world is just a polarizing place & no matter What you do, someone will find a problem with it, and I feel like this is prime example. But like I said, you're entitled to feel however you want about it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

She hurts so many people by reeling them in and making them like her. What kind of person makes people think she struggles for money and saves her own money to build house at such young age, when the information about her family's millionaire wealth is publically available. You can’t question her at all because she ignores you or deletes you and only allows people to speak who are bowing at her feet. She breaks people’s trust and they don’t even care she is doing it and come after you and attack you - that’s how much scary control she and other people like her have. If you didn’t want people to speak with drama, then you why did you post this just after Jasmine did.
@HarmonieV
@HarmonieV 3 жыл бұрын
My opinion - what she's doing isn't directly hurting herself or anyone else, so why get caught up on it? She's a kid putting up vlogs about her day to day, just like literally hundreds of thousands of other people. She's not out here scamming anyone or pedalling MLMs. Nor is she encouraging anyone to do what she's doing. Sharing stories online doesn't "hurt" anyone. If people watch her videos & assume her life is easy & they should give it a try, I don't think they're doing their due diligence... Also they probably won't get too far with it because there are so many hurdles in the way of making it happen. Also, coming from a family with resources/ money isn't inherently evil or bad as you seem to suggest. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Her viewers are aware of these things & like the content anyway. But as a side note the timing of this post was coincidence. I didn't actually know that jasmine made more videos until after i posted this & started hearing from people talking about the drama.

I’m so glad - and admittedly surprised - to see that your first video essay is about the content of my other favourite KZbinr! It’s like my perfect video to watch. Thank you so much! I’m also extremely happy to see you analyse Isabelle’s content in such an accurate, respectful way. I’ve seen that awful video which slated Isabelle for her ‘unrealistic’ and ‘unachievable’ content (and I’m not even going to bring more attention to it by mentioning the title or creator) so it’s really refreshing to see someone actually credit her work and not rip into it because of their subtle jealousy / inability to live as freely as her. I know some may think people that her ability to live on her parent’s land is advantage she has that many don’t, but , if it was an option for you, wouldn’t you consider doing the same? And if you think about it, it’s not actually her parent’s land / finances that gave her the following she has - it’s how she utilises her situation to create the impressionable content that she does. Her videos thrive off her story telling and allows the viewer to relax without stressing about ‘keeping up’ with trends - you’re so right! I’m over the moon to have listened to your take on this too Harmonie - it’s like a gift I didn’t even know I wanted! Yasmin x

For just one moment think about it from the other perspective (let's do a thought experiment). Imagine going on the internet one day to find out a compete stranger made a video for the sole purpose of criticizing you. This random person is also convincing other people to tear down not only your work, but also question every detail of your life & your character. You want nothing to do with this person but they won't stop making videos about you and dragging you into a dramatic situation that they created out of the blue one day. Now suddenly they're telling you that they're in trouble because they're receiving threats and they want your help? I honestly wouldn't be too eager to lend a helping hand either. Would you? People develop parasocial relationships with online creators and assume that they are owed something, which is not the case. If someone is being harassed online, it is not a creator's job to get involved - whether it is a "fan" (or in this case a hater). The person being harassed should be dealing with the police. end of story. You know what's not cool? Not respecting people's boundaries. If a creator (like Isabel) has made it 100% clear that she does not want to be involved with a viewer (like Jasmine) in any capacity (thus blocking multiple accounts), deleting comments, ect - that is a personal boundary. Viewers, subscribers, or fans are essentially complete strangers to these creators. Just because a viewer (like jasmine) thinks she "knows" a creator (like Isabel), doesn't mean it's true. She is just 1 in 500,000 other subscribers/ viewers online -- so what makes her think she deserve special treatment? or attention? or the right to harass a creator? or make demands? or be given a response? In this case the creator is responding by ignoring her - which seems like a pretty clear (and fair) response, you know? If someone is acting in a toxic way, you're allowed to have boundaries and choose not to engage with them.

@@HarmonieV Jasmine was not convincing people to tear down Isabel. She was asking questions that some people like me where asking because her narrative didn't had up, if you go to India to do yoga, go to Hawaii with your car to travel, build a tiny house by being a waitress for two years it's just fishy, you can't do that unless you have parents with alot of money, pretending that you are self made and did it all yourself is a lie she is showing to her followers. And yes if I was in Isabel shoes I would feel the need to reach out to my audience and tell them that it's not cool what they are doing with the threats, Jasmine was asking questions and not bullying. If you put yourself out there and your story sounds fishy people are going to talk. You have to be mature enough to deal with criticism when you are public about your life, to me it sounds like Isabel did not want to deal with this criticism because it gives validation to the points made by Jasmine, and that shows a lack of character in Isabel's part. Liars don't like when someone points out their lies

In this comment thread i have seen SO many different forms of baseless criticism, accusations & assumptions. You can tell people whatever, but they're going to believe what they want to believe. So why engage with bullshit? I don't blame her tbh. You (and many of these other folks) are not looking for the truth, you're looking for someone to validate the opinions that you've already decided on. Why are so many people so hell bent on this topic? it's weird as hell. I had no idea this video would be so controversial 😂 For example - I hate jake paul, and think he's a lying scumbag con artist POS. But i would never waste my energy by arguing with his fans. What's the point? I accept that there are people who like him, and that's their issue. I'm not going to waste my energy trying to convince them that he's garbage. If you think she's lying, that's cool. But why come here & argue with me when I clearly enjoy her work? Better yet - why not focus that energy inward on your own life?
