Despite what any number of naysayers will say i recently got a set of the ISO L8R200 stands for my M Audio BX8 D2's and they really do work. The difference in sound is quite profound, the boominess i was experiencing in the bass is gone completely and im left with a tight punchy sound with no overhang. The midbass and treble is much more open than it was, its very difficult to explain in words but the sound is just more 'airey' than it was before and the stereo imaging has improved massively. It really does sound like a brand new set of more expensive speakers. I have a set of ISO L8R130's supporting the centre speaker in my 5.1 surround setup consisting of Monitor Audio RX2's, RX Centre and RXFX rears and my setup has never sounded better. Sometimes during films the centre would sound slightly 'boxy' sat on the glass tv stand but not anymore, its uncanny just how much of an improvement there is. Trebles shine now and the openness of the centre channel almost makes the other front speakers seem like theyre behind some kind of veil (not literally of course but you know what i mean) its a real treat to watch and listen now. I would recommend these whole heartedly myself but the proof is in hearing for yourself with your own ears, all i can say for sure is that that these have been a revelation for me and im now ordering a set for all the speakers i own.

Hi HeadphoneAddictCOM.....That's an excellent question regarding the ISO-L8R430 and the JBL 4430. Although the overall size looks like a good fit, the weight is 25% beyond our recommendation. We will be shipping the modular-aluminium stands in the new year that can be built for this application, and providing the same isolation and clarity as the current ISO-L8Rseries of stands.
@DavidEHarrisMusic2 жыл бұрын
I got the ISO 200s. The sound on my JBLS 8 inch seems improved and more clear. Used the shorter rods. The long rods seem to be unstable. You should have a cheaper option with the short rods only.
@MrJhockley10 жыл бұрын
I can understand isolation from resonant surfaces will improve clarity. I can understand than angling speakers will improve clarity. However surely allowing speakers to react against their cones will take energy out of the mix. Wouldn't you get compression depending on the elasticity of the isolation rigidity. Personally i'm with the school of thought that mounting speakers on heavy slabs of concrete them placing them on isolator pads is the way to go.

I like the presentation ... It's peaceful. 😂 .... It's a nice change from all the slick, loud, jump cut stuff that seems so common now on this platform ... Kind of makes me wanna chill and watch a Bob Ross 'Joy of Painting' episode after I'm done with this one.

From forums...most users feedback on a positive change (improvement). However...from the comparison demo...with and without the stands...I preferred the presentation without the stands. Perhaps it's the recording (hot treble - mastering engineer's doing) but I found the treble much less "spitty" and less sibilant without the stands. Compare the "s" sounds of the vocals and you will see what I mean. The stands leaned out the mids (more open sounding?) which in turn "thinned" out the vocals quite a lot. This exposed the rough (spitty and sibilant) treble. I much preferred the sound with bass and lower mids smear. Probably a much less fatiguing sonic character. Clarity isn't always a desirable sonic attribute...:) However...on a top notch recording...stands may be preferred. YMMV.

The A/B test is nonsense. Different height hence different cancelling frequency caused by desktop reflection, no wonder it sounded different.

I can confirm, iso acoustic pucks work. Instant improvement on low end. Focused and tighter, less flabby. Translated well after I got a big of feedback. They 100% work, it's not about height, the pucks are the same height of the foam I used before. works.

Did you see the microphone on A was also not pointed at the monitor? I’m not an engineer but I believe microphones sound better when they’re pointed at the objects they’re recording.

I cant get them level. I have JBL4312se speakers. They slope,won't keep them level. If you touch the speakers they will lean. Is that how it's meant to be?
@ruger60494 жыл бұрын
Putting a little pressure will move the speaker while on the stands. Still extremely stable. It is part of the design. Not many things can help a desktop setup, but for just over 100 bucks I'm still smiling at the difference it made. Different gear and setups do of course play a role in how it all comes together
@minimusic46308 жыл бұрын
The line of reasoning starting at 5:28 leaves me suspicious of the validity of the entire presentation (there is no logical relationship whatsoever between placing a speaker on a solid surface and a car without air in its tires, geeez)-and it is nothing but a sales presentation with minimal real factual data. This line of reasoning taken to its logical conclusion would have the bass drivers isolated from the cabinet with something like rubber or sorbothane. He is an effective salesman, though, because he looks friendly and like he is presenting meaningful information. Even the A/B demo of the speakers in the studio is flawed, as the different heights alone between the two pairs of speakers could create difference in sound of the magnitude heard.
@robywankenobi325 жыл бұрын
Yeah the A/B is flawed, 1) different heights above the console gives similar direct sound but differing reflection distance thus time between direct/reflected is already different, 2) Microphones are almost same height - one will favour a tweeter more than the other as its off axis due to height in vertical to the centre line where most 2 way speakers will have had the designer attempt to crossover the woofer/tweeter with minimal phase issues, up or down of the centre line between Tweeter and Woofer risks nulls (still enherent with 24dB LR Crossovers too). I would believe it more instead by taking anechoic measurements with speaker resulting height the same and zero reflections, one sitting on a exact copy of the stand but made of solid/no moving parts, then this isostand, as in all scientific experiments you have to minimise the amount of variables.

@leckel19968 жыл бұрын
Jimtik kzeus I highly doubt it. what you're probably hearing is the difference between how our ears and how microphones react to audio. our ears compensate so that the difference isn't that noticeable, while a microphone isn't going to compensate making the difference more noticeable.

Snake oil...if you use decent floor stands, you don't need these. These make a difference for people that have their monitors on cheap wooden or glass desks.
@Danny-is5if4 жыл бұрын
Well its not exactly snake oil, it is way overpriced though. What you said about cheap wooden or glass desks is a bit stupid. Sound doesn't care what kind of wood your desk is made out of it will still bounce off the same way if it isn't properly isolated from contact of the desk.
