Theres a true story back in the 1970s of a little girl about 6 or 7 yrs old where.... it was an open secret that her uncle in law physically beat his children into submission and fear for total control, people in the church saw him as a strong powerful personality and I think some people feared him as well..the girl was in shock having seen the welts, bruises and cuts on her cousins bodies.. eventually the little girl asked her parents- why won't anyone do anything?-..they referenced something about not getting involved and dismissed the subject completely. Years later When the girl was in her late teens after moving away- she received word from her family that, that uncle and her aunt got divorced bc the aunt found out he molested his own daughters... Not getting involved inadvertently caused this hideous situation to escalate... And only God knows how many blind eyes are guilty eyes. Is this the church Christ died for?

I struggle with calling Jonathan strong. To me he's a very weak personality. Also, let's not forget that in the recordings of the business meetings where Suzi was fired and they were told to sign an NDA, fired, Jonathan blurted out to Joni, "I submit. I submit to you". He didn't stick with that ultimately but let's remember that he was so scared he did lierally tell her, in spite of what he was trying to stand up for in terms of conviction, he did say twice that he would submit to her in spite of everything that had happened. That's not strength. That's a weak little boy who needs mommy's approval.

I was not a daystar watcher. The story was so big I became interested. I had to determine my position which required listening to both sides. I was a new Christian at time of the praise the lord coming to the end and Jim Baker going to prison. There has been scandal with TBN that has not been dealt with. My position as far as Daystar is that I would not be able to continue Using Daystar as a platform for ministry. The divorce was not Biblical. Jimmy Evans was wrong in his advice to Joni. The SA has not been dealt with adequately. Joni chose Doug over God and her son and his family. This situation is far from being over. Praying that God will meet the financial needs of this young family.

So grateful for Blaise & Christine. My husband and I were whistleblowers in 2017 and our loss from it was devastating. I’m drawn to your interviews because it feeds my soul. In 2017, we had one couple to affirm us & that was it. We paid to go to counseling through our denomination, but it was very inadequate. I would love for this wave of exposure to lead to two things: a place where people like us could go and be counseled by Godly people who understand spiritual abuse and help us heal. Secondly, that it would lead to reform at the denominational level on how they handle reports of clergy SA. This is desperately needed. They are adding abuse upon abuse currently and it needs to be addressed.

Guys, let’s keep Jonathan in prayer as it must be incredibly hard for him to experience this unbelievable pain, betrayal, defamation etc from his own mother. Everyone else may see her as this evil wealthy Christian leader, but to Jonathan, it’s still his mom that I’m sure he has many warm memories of which makes this courageous path he’s decided to tread, even more complex, conflicting and difficult. What she has done is despicable especially concerning their precious daughter, the misuse of donation funds, the spiritual abuse, etc but ultimately, I’m sure there’s something in him grieving the loss of a once loving and nurturing mother as well as brokenness and righteous anger over the evil she’s done, the cover-up of their daughter’s abuse and everything else that has been coming to light. I pray the Lord protects his heart through it all. I know how hard it is when your own mother comes under God’s judgment after you tried to warn and hold her accountable. It is very sad to see. I pray that Joni truly repents from the heart and realizes that she threw away a wonderful son and daughter-in-law whom many would love to have in their family and that somehow, someday, God willing and if it’s safe, there could possibly be reconciliation. It would be nice for an interviewer to be more neutral and facilitate the interview by only asking questions or commentary that draw out more of the story and allow the audience to determine their own conclusions instead of repeatedly inserting their opinions on how “honest and accurate” so and so is. My (6 at the time)son was touched by his dentist when the hygienist was in the room and she didn’t even know it. I confronted him and her in the moment. I told my husband that evening about it and he blamed me for accusing him. I questioned whether I did the right thing or not. 3 years later it was on the news that this dentist abused 2 young boys in his family and 4 boys in his office. I paused the news and made my husband get out of bed to see it. The dentist was charged, not sure what happened after that.

Not on that scale but I've been through this control. I also married into a family ministry like Suzi and it only took less than 4 years to break. I was the good follower always wanting to do right and obey and submit and have a perfect testimony of loyalty to them to the point of almost neglecting my own parents.. But something about having my own kids brought out the mama bear in me and I had to learn how to be ok with being called "rebellious" whwn i started prioritizing my kids and because I was going to fight for my kids and live for my God, not for man. God delivered me from the fear of man and I finally got my voice back. This daystar scandal is about too many of us even in smaller ministries. Johnathan and Suzy are speaking for soo many of us right now!

Many of these details remind me of when I went through this when I found out my (ex) husband raped our daughters. I turned him in to the authorities. My pastor took his side.
