Our culture in Jamaica is very similar to Africa. Days of mourning. Music and food galore. I really like the idea of an invitation only funeral. It’s hard to have people who don’t like your family coming to eat and dance and shed tears of joy

I'm so sorry my dear over the passing of your dad. I know the feeling. Because I lost my husband of 45 years of marriage at home and I was in USA. But many friends and country men came to mourn with me. That made my life easier. Mind you not neighbors nor my workmates. So I hear you. Stay strong my dear. Prayers help a lot.

The contrast is obvious. The African way is a journey that honors and celebrates the lost loved one and allows family and friends to outwardly grieve the loss. Beautiful. May you find comfort in memories of your father. You are not alone. Your peace and power lie within you and with the ever present divine creator. Sending compassion from my heart to yours.💕

Hey Ann 👋 True, losing a loved one is the hardest one can ever go through, and for your case, in a foreign land. There 're all sorts of overwhelming emotions that afflict one and it's quite a struggle ! Personally,l find myself in this battle more than 2 years down the lane after losing my father... Take comfort in the fact that God is bigger than your loss and he's in this situation much as you're far away,Ann ❤❣

You are a strong woman yaya, keep on celebrating Papa's life. You are right, we just need to respect each others ways of life, we can't change nothing about it. Keep close to that lady yaya, God might be using you to save someone's life, my prayers to you both, keep strong in the Lord.
