@Sverge VK. It is a disaster. I am Dutch and retired in beautiful Panamá. Quite a number a young Scandinavian tourist here, They love it. Yes a lot of mixed races living nicely together. BUT is took hundreds of years. The biggest influx of blacks, europeans and Chinese was over 100 years ago during the construction of the canal. 98% of the population is Christian. Life is far less expensive here than in Europe. If you speak Spanish and have a high grade of technical knowledge it is not difficult to find a job here.

In reality, none of those things they said is true. Finland is at leadt as generous with welfare benefits and humanitarian as Sweden, Germany etc, often even more generous. Well im an afghani immigrant living in Russia. When i came here with my wife, i knew that it Will be tough. But i started to work, i was working 12 hours a Day. And believe me, i never complained about it. Everybody knows whats going on in afghanistan. I was there, trying to help my family when i was a teenager. Tap water's quality varies greatly depending where you're in Europe. For example Nordic countries in general have pretty high quality water supply services. Central and southern European countries are rather mediocre hence the high usage of bottled water in there.

I went to visit my family in winter and was given two pairs of boots to wear during my trip. On of the opair was used only once before and I was upset because I scuffed them: I thought that they would be more difficult to sell and I didn't want to wear the other pair at all because the boots still had a name tag on them. However, my relative who works in a refugee camp not too far from our little town, tol me that the refugees refuse to wear any donated clothes, even ones that have never been worn! The boots were not high-street Paris fashion but lovely and practical for the cold climate with snow, they were made for: good quality leather with fur lining. The problem with refugees is that they are the rich and often spoiled elite because the poor simply cannot AFFORD to espcape - so you could say that at least part of their motive is being an economical refugee/immigrant: this elite expects the same kind of luxury lifestyle they used to have before the war or what they imagine they are entitled to, because they have led to believe the myth that everyone in the west is stinking rich and that our governments take care of use for free without expecting anything (paying taxes) in return.. It is also natural defence mechanism against culture shock to expect having the same kind of lifestyle and diet as in their home country, because they are ill-prepared for the change and their identity and beliefs are "under attack" by a different system. this includes suddenly not having the power of fluent communication and lower status they have been accustomed to in their home countries. They may well feel cheated and get angry, blaming the host country, when their fantasy and reality don't match. Any immigrant can have the same problem, the more ill-prepared the worse the symptoms) but perhaps the defensiveness is even higher because of the circumstances why they left in the first place, which wasn't entirely voluntary. When I was homeless, I was happy to find clothes from bin that were in good condition and I was equally happy to wear donated clothes when I was (finally off the streets and) living on government handouts - but then I wasn't a refugee, just a legal immigrant that had fallen through the safety net. I am also an immigrant again, still struggling with the language and culture of my host country, so I kinda feel empathy for refugees - but I don't feel sympathy for any of their complaints. I don't buy the lack of medicine moan either: they are most likely used to buying antibiotics for common cold (which is not only useless but also harmful in long run) because that's what they do in their country (as in mine) but which doctors refuse to prescribe. Or they are addicted to medication and are not getting their fix.

Finland sadly has enourmous economic probkems, but lots of immigrants expect to be treated better than the Finnish. Makes it so hard for those who have fled war and try to assimilate and are grateful that they are safe.

I guess it's just Finns' characteristics not to care TOO MUCH about others so much, I quite like it. And I think it's quite enough to help someone else when he asks, but not to sacrifice my own living standards, no one is obligated to sacrifice if not wanted for any one else. Finland is cold, everyone should know that, I don't think Finns forced them to go there at the first place.

Im Finnish FINALLY someone is making sense, yes they are leaving its not easy here, nor rich like other countries its an in-hospitable envirnonment it is like a prison these people are put in towns where they are hated, nothing to do no-where to go even FINNS hate these small "housing for poor areas" and want out - In the past Finland would take small amounts of immigrants and integrate them, this was successful and needed if you saw the chart on the aging populalation there are NOW only 2 workers supporting each retiree this is going up what youth are here dont want low paying jobs because of free education, most cleaners, bus drivers ect are immigrants, Yes Finland will rush to get them back, because NO ONE ELSE I know of has ever immigrated here from a western country and stayed longer than a few years!

Since many of you here dont have a clue let me break it down 1-when fleeing a warzone you dont get to "pick" your destination 2- these guys dont have an option to work untill their immigration status is confirmed 3- if a native fin moved to a desert, adjustment would be hard too 4- people are social beings, not being able to mix/isolation takes its toll on the mind 5- contrary to belief many go to neighbouring countries but a nation of tens of millions cant all go next door. Inevitably some will have to go further afield 6- Dont go preaching human rights when it's a human right for asylum.

I saw an interview in germany with a woman who was working with the middle eastern immigrant centers. she spoke fluent arabic but she did not let the immigrants know. She listened to what the immigrants were saying to each other. The gist is that the immigrants were not coming to the west for jobs or to escape war, they were coming for religious freedom because they felt they could not practice their form of islam in their own country. So they are coming to the west to be MORE religious and to live in countries where they can take advantage of freedom of religion. So they are not coming to assimilate, to work, to get education... they are coming to West to be MORE RELIGIOUS.

it might be cold for 6 months of the year in norther lapland, but winters in south and south west of finland(where 80% of finns live) are fairly mild and only last for about 1-3 months depending on the year. Temperatures dropping below -20c are very rare.
