As a programmer myself, the “ent_fire env_lightglow kill” is what gets me the most. “Ent” is usually used as an abbreviation for “entity” in debug consoles for games (entity being anything spawnable like characters, particles, weapons, etc.), and “env” is usually used as an abbreviation for”environment”. This means that the glow for *that particular light* was using the glow that the *fire particle* uses. That is a level of spaghetti code that I haven’t heard of in a LONG while.

As far as I'm aware, the "fire" part of ent_fire refers to firing commands to entities. The particular entity it targeted was the environmental light glow, and the command was kill. Far less cursed than you may think.

ent_fire is a command to fire an input on an entity, not related to fire. env_lightglow is the entity name for the glow effect entity, kill is the entity input that is being fired

That's not true, ent_fire just causes something to happen to what ever entity that you specify, in this case it's env_lightglow which is the sprite like light glow effect you get when looking right at a light, and kill, which means to destroy all instances of env_lightglow in the map. Like I said before, you being a programmer doesn't mean you have some inherent understanding of an api, especially because things like entities are specific to source and I can't recall any other system that uses entities in the same way. Using ent_fire or creating an ent_fire entity allows you to trigger something to happen to one, a class of, or all entities in the map to disable, enable, kill, and many other custom methods that one can create. So I can create an ent_fire entity In the map that activates from a logic entity that then does something to the map, for example, changing the spawns by disabling the first spawn area and enabling the second for payload maps. A lot of the scripting is actually put into physical space in the map for that reason, Lua allows for more nuanced modification and manipulation.

Lights in Source have a soft, colored sprite to give the illusion of the glow when you look at a lightbulb like that and the console command is effectively removing every single instance of that sprite. In effect, the lights won't look as bright but no more GTX 3060 SUPRIM lightbulbs. "ent_fire" is the start of a command to modify an entity on the map, "env_lightglow" are the sprites that were mentioned and now the command is targeting them, and "kill" in this context will delete every entity that was targeted

I know I'm 4 years late but just want to say thank you, Lazy, for being the first person to mention those god-forsaken bleed through lights. I was dealing with them for years before this video and every time I would just sigh and change the camera angle to make sure they weren't in frame. There isn't really an easy way to describe them when you want to try and ask for help or google the fix, but with the advent of this video, I have somewhere I can go to back to and find the exact command I need to get rid of them; god bless you, you beautiful man!

I’m not sure if this helps, but on cp_Badlands (a fixed version I downloaded, not the one that crashes instantly), I had that problem. The problem persisted on the arena version of the map (or whichever version is in SFM and actually works), so there wasn’t anything wrong with the version I downloaded. I eventually figured out that it would only happen if the animation was higher than 49 FPS. I found a few different ways to “fix” it, but it never looked quite right. Finally, on a Steam forum thread, a helpful soul shared that you can fix it by setting the shutter speed to 0.001 (either by looking at the camera in the Element viewer or by overriding it when you’re rendering; I did the latter). Changing the shutter speed can mess up the motion blur, but motion blur doesn’t work when the frame rate is at 60 anyway (due to shutter speed limitations), so you aren’t sacrificing anything by simply disabling motion blur.

I don't understand why he was having such a hard time with smf, i find it pretty simple, all you have to do is disconnect the monitor, then can get to the PHP panel through the online SDRAM program then use the backup EXE mainframe, then you can compress the auxiliary bus which allows the reintermediate extensible e-tailers to deploy intuitive markets. Then use mesh value-added e-services to open up the interconnected envelope-tracking phase-noise.

I just recently tried to use sfm to make a simple picture for a friend of mine's birthday last month. But so many things went wrong. Like one of the custom models I downloaded lacked a bicep joint, making it so I couldn't pose it the way I wanted to at all. Then when I looked it up and downloaded a workaround, everything seemed to be going relatively smooth until I was finished with the scene, when the lighting broke. And when I tried to fix that, somehow, I must have broke any and all cameras, as my work, and scene camera turned completely black and I couldn't fix it no matter how many cameras I added. I even tried using a player camera, but that didn't even work. I tried to reopen the project, but still no luck. After that I just gave up and remade the scene in gmod literally the night before their big day. I haven't touched sfm since, and I have absolutely no intentions to ever again. I'd rather keep my sanity.

So, I'm in a programming class, and I've been struggling to understand the coding and why it has sprung up error after error after error for me to create an AutomobileInformation of Make, Model, Miles, Year, and Price so I asked my mom to help me out. She said she didn't know anything and that she wished she could help so instead she got our resident tech wizard, EmperorSheep (my little introverted Minecraft mod-loving, odd little shy beloved gremlin of a little brother) to help me out. We banged our heads just trying to turn in something that was late (so the first part of the assignment is 80 points, and the second is 20 points, with it being turned in late costing us 15 points. We need those two parts to be finished just to break even), and we came so close, time and time again though we couldn't compile the program and set up the Instance Variables into being able to be interacted with by the "User". I guess no matter the context, programming when you don't know anything and don't have everything at the ready is a heck unlike anything any evil villain could ever dream of, and I don't use that underworld term lightly. If there's a way to make your programming career miserable, it's going to be an inevitability to encounter.
