Thank you for sharing what files to use if one doesn’t have a Flexshaft. I’ve been eyeing a three, 4-prong settings and wondered if I had the tools to do this and I do now! 😅

OnlineJewelryAcademy I was looking for creating prong settings more than anything. I’m glad it mentioned in the preview that creating settings wouldn’t be covered though. Almost signed up for it.

Hi Deborah, This is Don and I remember you from the livestream. We do have 4 videos on making and setting stones in gallery settings (which use prongs to hold stones). They are listed in our "Stone Setting" section listed under "Free Videos" on our webpage at onlinejewelryacademy.com . A Faceted stone can be set in that kind of a setting and the prongs hold the stone into place. Those are probably about as close as we come to what you are interested in. Thanks, Don

Very helpful video. Can you tell me how to make the gunmetal color on prongs with sterling/fine silver? Perhaps it is a different kind of metal. This is often used with accent stones or pave, and makes the accent stone stand out or pop with more color, while the rest of the setting is in bright silver. Thank you, again.

Hi Karen, Usually the beads on pave are blackened by rhodium plating them. But, that material rubs off really quickly. You could try using silver black or liver of sulfur on your sterling pieces to get that look. Good luck with your projects! : )

I’m barely getting into jewelry and I was wondering if I could get a list of tools for beginners that won’t break the bank, and maybe some good metals to start with and where to find them.
