Umthanyelo/Mutsvairo is a hand broom that serves different purposes from cleaning to several cultural uses. This broom holds several cultural and traditional narratives from marriage, dealing with constipation, being a miner’s friend, and subsequent protection of families. In this documentary, we take a look at how this unique product is made, its main uses, and the need for us to preserve this important cultural artefact for the generations to come.

Besides fashion and fabrics, agriculture, wood work etc. I think our children should take courses in traditional craftsmenship from form 1 to 4. There is so much from basket weaving to pottery. Both boys and girls would benefit greatly!
