Definitely! It's easier to see progress as a beginner because most words are new, but later on it can feel a bit slow. For me it's not only about trusting the process, but also simply enjoying it. Being able to consume content for native speakers is just great and honestly is one of my biggest goals. I'm reading books in portuguese that haven't been translated yet and listening to podcasts that will never be, it opens up so many doors wether it is work, entertainment, people, personal growth etc.

I'm paraphrasing here, but in the film 'A League of their own,' Tom Hanks' character says "It's the hard (or difficult part) that makes it great. If it was easy, everyone would do it.'

"3-6 months" to "communicate fluently" is extremely optimistic -- in fact I'd go as far to say that it's completely unrealistic for the vast majority that cannot commit about 40 hours a week solely to language learning.

True - it does depend on a person's definition of fluent (we all think of 'fluent' in different ways). Of course, it also depends as you say on how much time you can commit to it. There's lot of variables! Main point - the journey feels different, according to what stage you're at.
