Very cool to see such an obscure weapon pioneer a method of locking, against the ejection port, that is so ubiquitous in pistols today.

Not many pistols that I can think of use that kind of recoil system. Neat.

Always good to see a new C&R video. Doesn’t matter the kind, I always watch! Is the shotgun series still going to happen?
@theconsul959710 ай бұрын
According to Othias, it is still in the works, things have just been slow for them. I think he goes into more detail about that in his Remington No. 3 shotgun video, it's either in the video itself or in a pinned comment.

yup, still in the works, we've got some ideas on how to run em and how we want them to look, hopefully we'll get to testing some filming for them this winter when it's a little less warm out.

There are a few guns from this show that I would love to own just because they are odd, this is one. The Nagant 1877 2 shot, an 1879 Reichsrevolver and one of those Comblain of some type. I hardly ever get a chance to shoot them (ammo alone limits that) but they are just hit that mix of cool and odd looking so well.

What makes *the trigger transfer bar to drop down* upon firing and then jump back up? 🤔
@KorianHUN8 ай бұрын
You can see the disconnector above the trigger. Looks like it might be actuated by the barrel hitting it.

Seems like a pretty simple design. The ergonomics could use a little help. The grip angle seems awful . Why was it not more popular? Did they ever try to export them to compete in the American Market or Canada?
@tenofprime10 ай бұрын
The full episode gets into a bit but the TL;DR is timing and price. It was an expensive gun that did really what other cheaper autos could just as well and this was when automatics were still new tech so most militarizes still used revolvers.

Such an odd set of ergonomics for such an influential locking action.

British designer: Ergonomics? What are these ergonomics that you speak of?
@chaimafaghet734310 ай бұрын
They're more comfy than you would think assuming you have normal man sized hands.
@davidhansen506710 ай бұрын
@@chaimafaghet7343 The sheer length of that grip, though. Granted, it may fit the hand well, but it's got to be awfully awkward to holster and carry, which, given that a handgun is largely a just-in-case weapon, definitely matters.
@chaimafaghet734310 ай бұрын
@@davidhansen5067 It's going in a military flap holster high on the left side, it's fine. This isn't a pocket gun.
@zoiders10 ай бұрын
@@davidhansen5067Its a heavy holster pistol worn cross draw in a Sam Brown. Some of the initial adopters were the Royal Horse Artillery and the Cav so it could even ride in a saddle holster. It's still not large by service pistol standards of the day. Webley revolvers and Colts New Service were even larger and heavier. It's certainly no worse than a full size Glock in .45ACP. 1:35

The animations they post are just snippets from the full episode so you can find the Luger (it is an early one on the primer playlist) and search in it. The animations are normally in the first quarter to half episode.
