Only old documentaries can explain it so nicely. Now a days they do presentations on computers but still do not match these old ones. Btw the voice in these old days was so typical as if only one and same person was there doing voice-over for all these presentations :)

Learning things formally w/ terminology pertaining to the topic results in easy confusion since it's the first exposures for the brain. The brain's neurons need to rewire themselves to things that you already know, associative thinking. By teaching with simple words and analogies, more people will be able to understand what you are teaching more quickly and correctly with a deeper *base understanding of the knowledge.

Mr.GearS Stay with it Mister Gear, I've been turning wrenches over 50 years of my life, to this day,-30 years ago,, We had the best mechanics anywhere in the world, as of today We have the greatest part swappers,, Second of none. and as of course,to the customer's expense. There are still some good mechanics out there, but you're getting fewer and fewer as years go by. To those still out there I tip my hat with all do respect.
@GIMMETHELOOT94
@GIMMETHELOOT94 5 жыл бұрын
Dale Slover As a Career Auto Mechanic I can myself confirm that the trade is turning into just swapping parts out rather than actually diagnosing and fixing the original part. When I first started 2 years ago (was 22 when I started, am now 24), the decline in well seasoned mechanics definitely declined more rapidly over my short tenure, that being said my Mentor is one of the best mechanics I know, and I was very very lucky that he took me on as his pupil/protege. If more people had a highly skilled mentor like I had we would have way more people in this field for the love more than the money.

I remember understanding all this completely in 5th grade, without having seen this type of material, but by just reading everything about cars I could get my hands on, and all of my male classmates did as well. We knew about displacement, CR, 4-bbl carbs, injection, supercharging, big block v small block, the 'hemi', Diesels, etc. Girls would hear us talk and ask, "whats a 350 or a 427?" We'd reply, "that's the displacement", and they'd just look puzzled. By the time I was 15, I understood ignition timing, camshaft profile and other details with no classroom instruction whatever and I didn't even own a car. Automotive tech for boys back in the 60s & 70s was like video games today.

Sure you can explain nowdays cars as simple as this. But today people want to sound smarter and use syntax that will make you pause and research its meaning on google - and yet not understand it. Still, they will make an 1 hour documentary and it will take you an engineering (pre)knowledge to understand a bit. Kudos to the presenter, simple straight, direct manner, understandable for everyone. Thank you.
