Thanks for this video! I just bought a Ford Focus the other day, and I had no idea how the auto start/stop worked until watching this. Thanks again!

Thank you for this video! I live in a show belt region and was wondering, how does the auto start stop fare in colder weather? Does this have an impact?

I have a Ford Grand TSI Max, and even though I use this mode, when I stop at a traffic light, this feature appears on the license plate, but it is white and green, and it is prohibited or stopped. What is the reason?

I had three occasions where stop/start failed on me. Therefore it’s was. always at the back of your mind is it going to start again in my case It didn’t so I turned it off and never used it. Because I lost faith in it.

My start/ stop in a 17 plate Focus Titanium hasn’t worked for a while. Last year when I wasn’t using my car due to the pandemic it stopped, but then when I began driving again it came back, so I thought it was due to the low battery. But it’s been off for ages now and despite me driving more this year than last. Is it due to the low battery? Is there anything I can try? Thanks

It could be that the battery doesn’t have the capacity to handle the extra load of the start stop anymore since you did say it was from 2017. It could be due to the battery aging. Do you use your AC a lot of the time when you drive or do you live somewhere that gets super hot outside? How much pressure do you put on the brake pedal? A lot? Little? It’s not much to factor in, but all those things can trip the system into not engaging.

you have to reset the battery. push the start button without your foot on the clutch pedal. Push the rear fog light button 5 times and then the hazard warning light button 3 times. The battery symbol on your dash board will flash 3 times. That's it, the system is now reset and works normally again.

Is it true it prematurely ages your starter motor and battery?
@capturingcars2 ай бұрын
I’ve been told many times that it doesn’t, but I’m still the kind of person to immediately turn it out as soon as I get in my car!!

great way to wear out your start to save you 5% of a gallon of gas.
@capturingcars4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joey. The stop and start system doesn't use the starter motor so you need not worry about wearing it out. It uses the alternator. And here in the UK, a 5% saving is actually a pretty big chunk of money over time.

You have no idea what you are talking about lol. I hope now you have been corrected that you realise this though Joey

i got a 2016 ford mondeo from Arnold Clark about two months ago and the start/stop was not working they said that i was not doing long enough journeys to keep the battery charged up so they keeped it overnight to charge the battery i got the car back on a friday afternoon and it was working ok but by the Monday it had stopped and has not worked for three weeks i don't think Arnold Clark are willing to get to the bottom of the problem and fix my £12,500 car and the service i received from them was terrible shame on them. uncle Arnold would be turning in his grave. R.I.P.

That's really not good to hear. Your stop/start should work within about the first 10 minutes of driving normally although obviously this can vary depending on driving style etc. Either way, there is no way that it just wouldn't work over any 3 week period. It's obviously under a 12 month used car warranty I'd assume? They need to be fixing this for you.

Hmmmmm, Wear and tear on both starter and engine not to mention how the battery is going to take to this extra load .....No thanks ! Ford has enough problems with battery systems anyways.

Hi Nigel. I think it might be worth a visit to your supplying dealership, especially as yours is so new and obviously under warranty.

Have you tried resetting the battery Nigel? Because it seems as though that can make it work.......

Not helpful. This is how it is supposed to work. Mine has stopped working. Deeper technical explanation needed in order to diagnose and fix it. Most likely problem my car has is that the cars brain thinks the battery is not good enough after 4 years and has disabled the system. The battery apart from stop start not working is perfect. Not the slightest sign of starting issues. Cost to fix it? About £255 for a new special 'EFB' battery and pre-charging and calibration at ford dealer.
