We just witnessed the first chapter in what could be a legendary career for Jayson Tatum. His confidence, polish, and pure skill as a rookie do not come often, and he showed it in the playoffs. Check out how.

Tatum played his heart out during the playoffs... definitely showed signs when he was more of an experienced player than a rookie. The future is bright.

2nd most points in the playoffs as a rookie in the nba EVER...2nd to a guy named Kareem...let that sink in. He will be the best player in the game within 2 to 3 years under Brad. Not even scratched the surface of his game as a defender, rebounder or shot blocker.

Jake Molnar agreed. I think Donovan might have a few better years than Tatum because he is more the man on his team than Tatum is, but that Tatum will have more longevity due to his body type and height. Once Donovan loses a step he will be just another skilled guard whereas Tatum can move up and play the 4 because of his height.

@bpdmf2798
@bpdmf2798 6 жыл бұрын
What is so nasty is when you look at the score when he does some of his best stuff. Most of the time it's tied, behind by a couple, or ahead by a couple. On a very well spread offense he is the guy who gets the ball on key possessions, not always, but usually. On a team with a bunch of stars and young guys, he is the stand out. When Kyrie needed to get bailed out on a bad drive (rare as they may be for him), he looked for Tatum. That says a lot. A guy who normally looked to LeBron as a bail out pass is now looking at Tatum the same way. Tatum also looks taller than on opening night. He started the season at 6'8 in shoes and by the playoffs he was a hair shorter than Al Horford who is 6'11 in shoes.

lijah moody we saw that in the playoffs. In the regular season he was officiated like a rookie usually is. Once the playoffs got going and it was clear that he was the man on the Celtics and he was getting at least a highlight a game on ESPN, then he started getting protection and coin flip calls. It was obvious to me and I watched every minute of every game all year going back to summer league. I think it happens to a lot of guys in the playoffs and some of them don't take advantage of it or don't realize it, but he did and he drove at the bucket much more because of it. Win or lose, the Milwaukee series did so much for Tatum. It showed him he can compete at that level, it showed him how defenders play in the playoffs, and he refined his game from games 3 and 4 to games 5, 6, and 7. He learns fast. That's his best quality. He only looked like a rookie in his first game vs LeBron when LeBron blocked his first shot and then Gordon Hayward happened, but after halftime he came out and dropped like 19 in the second half to nearly overcome a 20pt deficit.

I don’t know if Ingram could be that fluid. I believe in him tho, especially since Ingram has scoring capabilities and sort of help run the offense. Ingram’s footwork and body control is not up to par with Tatum (which might be some core related issues too, I don’t know), and Tatum is a better shooter. Their defense is about the same, maybe Ingram having an edge with the longer frame

Watching this now makes me so damn proud. He's already an All-Star and a top 5 player in the east. I also like how you can clearly see the difference of his release and how his shots fall from then to now, his jumper is so smooth now and the ball goes in more cleanly than before.
