Why did voters back Jeremy Corbyn in far higher numbers than predicted. Did an online offensive which had the Labour leader at its heart play a key role?

Of course for a 4 minute video it is difficult to summarise Labour's success; but there a couple of responses I have. - it is an injustice to generalise much of the online content with labour's campaign. The multitude of content come from very different sources and a lot of it is user generated- therefore comprises of a ground-up movement towards Labour rather than a top-down movement from the party. - though Corbyn and others form the front bench faces of The Labour Party, people actually did not vote for Corbyn. While he is the leader of the party, my ballot box certainly did not say JC or any other front bench MP. While JC is the attraction, it is an injustice to generalise as a vote for merely him. People are voting for labour and the party should be regarded when referring to the party; not the leader. Thoughts?

Looking at Corbyn hysteria and youth engagement, reminds me of Obama's election turn out in 08 & 12 which was one the highest along with 2016 primaries (When Bernie was there) but national elections 2016 with Hilary & Trump was only 32%!

My only hope is that Jeremy Corbyn has a few real friends outside of his politics circle who shall on occasion remind him that he is & always shall be a mortal man.! When the Republican Emperors first entered Rome for their inauguration they were accompanied by a slave servant on his chariot.. As the crowds cheers & salutations raised in to frenzy, the slave held a golden crown of laurels above the Emperors head whispering in his ear "thou arte merely a mortal man".During the 4th century AD Rome was sacked & pillaged by Vandals & Visigoths. Panama Companies did not exist then !

FFS Corbyn did so well because the conservatives could not have run a worse campaign, it's that simple. I actually voted conservative because it was better than voting for a lying communist who actually hates Britain. I watched in total despair as the conservatives ran a campaign so appallingly bad I genuinely thought they wanted to lose the election. No one in their right mind would make some thing as unpopular as the idea of leagalising fox hunting as a campaign issue. If that was your intention you'd shut up until after the election. So let's not hear about Corbyns strategy he had the worst opponent in history and still came away with 60 less seats.

The Antidote summed up very well, the conservatives shot themselves time and again in the foot with an array of unpopular policies.Corbyn could hardly believe his luck. But against such a lack lustre conservative campaign old Labour still came up 60 seats short of power, pathetic really. The conservatives won't repeat those mistakes in any future election and will be ready for Corbyns future bullshit.

+ The Antidote - I found it refreshing - May showed w/o a doubt what the party stands for. The voters could make an informed choice. - I know it is not considered savvy. But it was definitely helpful. So you think something big like the demendia tax should be sneaked in after one of the Tory core constituency - older people - trusted her with their vote. Which is in itself interesting. Usually politicians do not go after one voting block. - Well, the voting block that really counts are the wealthy and rich - and if she is not willing to tax THEM then there must be cuts for social services and co-pays.

The Antidote I would disagree. labour gained seats due to them being very successful and their manifesto being so popular. when the election was called i was backing the cons but Jeremy won my vote tho his message and his manifesto. for standing for the people and for the majority. not saying the cons didn't do very bad but that's not what turned me I would say their manifesto also just pushed alot of people over the edge too with how much it robbed the people of this country.

The Antidote well he did have 5 weeks to go from the least popular candidate in recent history to the Prime Minister, battling the conservatives who cheated in their campaign with call centres and the ENTIRE MAINSTREAM MEDIA's slander campaign. I'd say he did quite well.

The outcome was more surprising last time around, when the Tories unexpectedly won a majority. Anyone could see this was coming based on the campaigns, I actually thought it might turn out worse for Conservatives with May failing so miserably. Pretty local to the UK too, socialists just got their asses whipped in France. So much for having a grasp on "the world's reality", kl wies.
