Like you said, a lot of tradesmen and craftsmen are very well educated and intelligent, and because of that, they realize that building and creating things with your hands is not only lucrative, but fulfilling to the soul. Much in the same way making music is.

Carpenters and Welders are far and few in between. Masonry workers also are so rare. You can become wealthy learning these skills because people are fleeing to STEM leaving those careers empty and in dire need. Top-level carpenters who are not entrepreneurs can make 80k a year I think if you have a business you can make more.
