Great documentary. There was a "mini-Bull" in 1930-31 but Hoover passed the Reconstruction Finance Act, 1932 and killed it. The Reconstruction Finance Corporation would re-finance failing banks BUT to apply for govt. loans the banks would be listed in the Congressional Record. Reporters would read the CR to find out which local banks were applying for loans. Then published articles that they were failing causing depositors to pull out their money en mass. Thus, starting one the largest bank-runs in history. From 1929-1933, 45% of the U.S. GDP disappeared. Vanished. The 2008 Great Recession was bad, but it was never close to the Great Depression levels.

This is the very issue. Government acts like there regulating and governing but they just appoint folks that rub shoulders with corporations , pharma, and big banks and even worked in those various sectors which gives the disguise of keeping authority and integrity that is needed but no real action or consequence is really handed out. Its all smoke and mirrors.

His Father owned 2 Saloons. That’s where most of his money came from early on. It also allowed the Kennedy family to make contacts with Wealthy people as well as Organized Crime. Joe learned a lot about People and Politics. That’s why the story about the shoe shine boy at the first of this video shows how he listened and anticipated what was coming.

The truth of the matter is there are so many investors at any point in time and some would make it rich while other would have an empty pockets. Kennedy made the correct decision at the right time while others did not. The economy is so complex that nobody knows what happened next. We are doomed to telling stories on what happened and what are the results. It is like betting in a lotto. Yeah surely somebody wins but that is so insignificant among the lot of bettors.
