This seems like a smart signing. Good price, adds a dimension, adds competition, takes pressure of Hojlund and hopefully brings in a personality who seems to be looking to prove he is now ready to step up to the big time. Luckily we arnt in the CL, so it’s not as big of a step up for him in Europe, but it is in terms of pressure and expectation. My worry is that at Bayern he seems to have struggled with the pressure and needed to be loved whenever he’s played. These type of players arnt always cut out for the top level high pressure environments. But they can also be easier to persuade to take less game time. Will be one I’m excited to see if he does sign.

Think having 2 strikers with different styles of play allows ten Haag to be more flexible going into different games. When he was at Ajax he used tadic in Europe and huntelaar in the league. This would massively help as some games last season didn’t suit Rasmus game. Games we need to play on the counter you can use zirkzee to link the play and bring the likes of rashford etc into play and allows an out ball.

I've not seen much of him, just the usual clips from KZbin etc, but we need a second striker and something that's completely different, without having to completely change your style of play can't be a bad thing? Shrunk under pressure at Bayern who let him go. Might as well play Antony as false 9 and save the money. A big club would sign Osimhen & put Hoijlund on bench to develop. He’s also an option chasing a game. Take off the defensive midfielder, move Bruno back and bring on Zirkzee as a 10. Even a viable option for Bruno. Fernandes is 29. His durability is incredible, but it won’t last forever. Doesn’t sound great for the future of Mason Mount though in that regard. Options are good. We had too few last season.

Think if Rashford left then Leao would be the ideal replacement as a someone to come in. I like the idea of Zirkzee because it gives us tactical flexibility and if he did start it was interesting how impactful Rasmus then was as the style changer to the attacks when defenders were tired! Zerkzee will bring the linkup that a fitted Martial used to bring in the team. The kind of linkup that Martial used to provide between Greenwood and Rashy. You noticed that since he became injured and started missing in games, Rashford's game was not the same anymore. However Zirkzee is a more technical player too, which will make the game more beautiful to watch. Him and Rasmus could play together, with Rasmus staying in the box and Zirkzee operating behind or around.

One thing about Zirkzee that astounds me is his 1 touch passing when dropping deeper. Its freakishly accurate and high volume. Sometimes with United when we try to speed up the play, you see Bruno, Rashford, Garnacho, Antony or Hojlund try to back heel it or flick the ball around the corner and give it away which is infuriating. Zirkzee does this kind of pass regularly, dropping deep to receive from midfield, then chipping it out to the wing with a reverse pass. Someone tried to shoot me down (Hojlund stan account maybe) the other day because I said that he would be of more benefit to Rashford and Garnacho. He'd be the Firmino to Salah and Mane. Is a simpler way of explaining it.

I think a 3-5-2 formation will be possible and perfect if we get Zirkzee. We could have wing backs/ attacking wingers on the flanks and the rest of the team picks itself with mainoo, bruno and a DM in the center of the field and rotating the three strikers up front. In defence we could have martinez/maguire pushing out of the 3 for interception with shaw and another cb as cover.

I think we need a Zirkzee to offer an alternative to the more traditional 9 that Hojlund is. However, I also think we need a direct replacement for Hojlund in the case he gets injured, rested, loss of form. This guy needs to be a Solskjaer / Chicharito style bargain, this is prepared drop in and out of the team and knows how to make an impact in the last 20 mins of games.

Competition between Zirkzee and Højlund is fine. BUT This squad needs harmony before competition. What I'd really like to see is these two (or whichever striker United sign) working together as teammates. The team needs to become a Team. These players need to be out there working for each other and the badge, not only themselves. Hopefully, there can be a nurturing of both players where they each would like to see the other succeed and aren't "punished" for it. Just my thoughts.

@@sonofzeus5551 I still think Marcus can come good. I'd like to think last season was a bit of a crazy-pants year for him. He'd just signed a brand new contract. His best friend Sancho fell out hard. He was coming off a career season and expectations were set through the ceiling by both he and the manager, in public. The reliance on him by the team (especially while Højlund was just coming into the squad; remember: he arrived injured). The Ireland Drinking Scandal. His personal relationship was rocky. He did receive a lot of unnecessary abuse. I'm not saying it's definite; Hell: it may not even be probable! But it's possible it was just all too much. I know we commoners don't have the resources he has, but I remember when I was 26. I made a lot of stupid and/or poor decisions that led to bad outcomes. I learned and was better for it. I'm better now at 40 than I was at 26. Less fun, but better. I'm hoping he can turn it around. Still rate him.

This lad looks like he could physically handle the prem and potentially provide something different to Rasmus. It is a positive step in the right direction when some people were hoping for a leap. @@RobertGithinji-e5u that's because ineos are changing how we do transfers. We're not going to pay huge fees and wages anymore. They're trying to offload some high earners first. It's hard to know who to sign and how much to spend where if you aren't positive you can off load certain players. If casemiro leaves, we can get Ugarte for example. I doubt they'd sign him if we're still paying £350k per week to casemiro.
