I am a rape victim as well, I was only 4 and 5 years old. I will never forget the trauma and fear I was going through. When you are told by your abuser not to tell anyone or else he is going to kill you, your whole body will be shaking, you feel frightened all the time. I was withdrawn, I was 9 years old and I still wet my bed, I learned later in life that bedwetting at that age is a sign that a child was molested. I remember vividly when I was at school I was always nervous, angry about little things. I wasn't friendly at all. I was carrying bitterness in my heart for many many years. I never told anyone what had happened to me. My parents split up when my siblings and I were very young which added injury to the trauma. Not until... I learned that there is God who can heal, restore and forgive. He allowed me to understand who He is and what His Son Jesus Christ had done for me. He washed me, He restored the broken spirit that I was able to let go of the past abuse and forgive the one who assaulted me. I was also able to tell my husband everything about my childhood and he was gracious to say that" no matter what I was going through that he'll give his unconditional love and support to help me healed completely. Thank you, God, for your amazing grace, and thank you that you chose me to be your daughter.

Akala ko noon pinapahirapan lang ako ni Lord when all those bad things happened to me, like when i lost my babies(twin) due to miscarriage and when i went through a big family problem. I was so angry and napuno ng sakit at galit ang puso ko na di ko magawang magpatawad. Hearing those things about "Forgiveness and Peace" from Joy Mendoza i felt God in my heart and this is a reminder for me that everything that i am going through right now has a good purpose. Like her I didn't filed a case I leave it to God and that man received his punishment after 8 months. I didn't prayed for it kc ayaw ko mag dasal ng masama like sana magdusa yung gumawa saken non. Because victims tend to go for abusers. Abusers are usually good with words and manipulation. If the abused women don’t have a relationship with the Lord like she does, they would end up getting victimized over and over again. That’s why everyone needs to have a deep relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so they can heal from their past, move forward, and learn to discern the Godly people that they need in their lives. She didnt cry when she talked about the incident. She cried when she told how her brother cried, how she was held overnight by her mother. We cannot control the things on earth, but it is how we handle the aftermath. Look at her now, she is still as pure as what she is wearing. Woman, you are my idol and I learn so much from you. I could relate to Joy's older brother who cried because he couldn't protect his younger sister. My younger brother was robbed & stabbed and I wasn't there to protect him like I always did ever since he was young. He would always call me, magsusumbong pag may nangaaway sa kanya or nambbully sa kanya. Doesn't matter kung mas malaki sakin or lalake ung nang api sa kapatid ko, aawayin ko talaga. Hindi ako titigil hangga't di ako makaganti kahit papano for my brother. So when he died, I was so affected. Sama talaga ng loob ko. At one point I even blamed myself. I also blamed my parents for sending him to that school where he went to sabi ko sa kanila delikado dun pero walang choice kase wala kaming pera that time eh. My brother got a scholarship there eh. Pero praise God for his goodness & faithfulness. All things work together for good talaga. He healed our family after the tragedies that happened to us. Praise God parin!

I kinda know how you feel. 4 years ago, before I heard her story, I thought I knew God since I was born into a religion. when I heard her story I was really confused kasi bakit parang hindi ko kilala ung God niya. Dahil nung nagkasala ang tao sina Eve and Adan nawala yung relasyon natin saating Diyos at namana natin yung kasalanan dahil sa pagkain ni Eve at ni Adan ng bungang ipinagbabawal ng ating Diyos. Kaya para ang relasyon na maikabit muli parang sa communication process kung walang channel na nagsisilbing koneksyon sa receiver sa sender malabo yung nasasagap na impormasyon. Ganon rin sa ating Diyos kailangan tayong maipanganak muli in Spirit in truth that we must be baptized in water and be baptized in the Holy Spirit. At ang Christian sa born again, Christian ay ito lang ay pagkakatawag sa mga tagasunod ni Kristo noon na unang tinawag sa Antioquia sa panahon ni Apostol Pablo (na Saulo ang ngalan dati na dating umuusig kay Kristo)at Apostol Bernabe dahil marami na ang nakakakilala at nababahagian ng mabuting balita ang Biblia. In Acts o Gawa sa tagalog chapter 11: 25 to 26 na sabi duon, "25Nagpunta si Bernabe sa Tarso upang hanapin si Saulo(na Apostol Pablo na ang bagong ngalan)26at nang kanyang matagpuan ay isinama niya ito sa Antioquia. Isang taon silang nanatili roon na kasa-kasama ng iglesya, at nagtuturo sa maraming tao. Doon sa Antioquia unang tinawag na Cristiano ang mga tagasunod ni Jesus. Kaya kahit anong sekta pa dati ang ating kinagisnan o mga relihiyon dahil ang tao lang naman ang gumawa ng mga relihiyon kaya marami ngayon kung pagmamasdan natin dahil nga binulag tayo ng mga ilan sa kinagisnan nating sekta. Na hindi maikakaila dahil na sa Bible din naman iyon na may mga huwad na guro sa 2 Pedro 2:1 sabi duon, "Noong una, may mga huwad na propetang lumitaw sa Israel. Gayundin naman, may darating sa gitna ninyo na mga huwad na guro. Lihim silang magtuturo ng mga maling aral na ang dulot ay kapahamakan. Pati ang Panginoong tumubos sa kanila ay kanilang itatakwil, kaya't di magtatagal at sila'y mapapahamak. Kaya kung tutuusin mapagmamasdan natin na bakit relihiyoso naman sila pero bakit ganon yung pamumuhay nila. May ganyang katanungan saating kaisipan diba. Kasi nga relihiyon ang isa din nagbibigay dahilan upang maging mailap ang tao sa Diyos dahil nabulag na nga sa mga katuruang gawa ng tao. Hindi pa huli ang lahat nawa'y hayaan nating mas makilala natin nang lubusan ang Diyos na huwag nating isarado ang ating puso at isip sa kanya. Dahil apart from Him we can do nothing kaya tayo napapahamak at nabibigyan ng gulo saating isipan sa dami nating katanungan. Testify ko nalang sarili ko dati akong may identity crisis nuon pero nang hinayaan kong makilala ko ang Panginoon, ako'y binago niya dahil sa sarili nating lakas wala tayong magagawa katulad nalang sa mga kaugaliang new years resolution ng mga tao na hindi na magiging ganto, hindi na ko babalik sa dating ako. Kaya kafaithtid hindi pa huli ang lahat nawa'y hayaan mong makilala mo nang lubusan si Kristo nang hindi lamang kilala sya sa kung sino sya kundi ano pa yung kaya niyang gawin sa buhay ng bawat-isa. Sa Diyos ang papuri, magpakailanman. Amen😊

When i was watching this edition of toni’s vlog, i thought of the “rejection” of my own mom on me. I was adopted by my aunt(sister of my dad). Even i was growing up and now older, up to now i can feel that my mom cannot love me as her real daughter. But if she needs my help , i can feel that she pretend to love me bcoz of her needs. God is good , HE did not give me a loving parents but HE gave me a very loving husband plus a bonus of a genuine caring inlaws. This is really a powerful message not only to women who went through a tragedy but to everyone who has bitterness in their hearts. It's true that when you keep it to yourself, you're already the one who's victimizing yourself the second time and this bitterness will show even in small situations. My name has a "Joy" on it but I never really feel like using it but seeing Joy and knowing her story makes me see that she is indeed a Joyful person. Toni is really a good listener, you would always see that whenever she interviews someone, it feels like she's also literally seeing situation, empathy is there, she is rational and almost knows what her interviewee would say.

This is such an eye opener for people who’s been struggling to forgive someone. I myself took 15 years to forgive my parents who abandoned me at 8 years old. Our family reunion happened during my father’s funeral and that’s the only time we’ve met after almost 2 decades. Looking back, it was a painful reconciliation but I made a Decision to let go of my grudge so I can continue pursuing my dreams without a baggage. Now that I am already an engineer, most of the people who knew my childhood journey are questioning why I am supporting my mom and her new family, they’d say “They never helped you in your success”. The only reason I could think of is because I have forgiven them even before they asked for it. What an awesome God! He took my heart and made it new.

To think that our case was dismiss by the fiscal office and that made me more broken. I even questioned God's justice. I was saw myself in tears while listening to this video. I was molested too by, one my second cousin and the other one by a stranger. But your story is more more heavier and brutal than mine. And yet you forgave. I appreciate your maturity and i praise God for how He prepared you before that incident. I am ok now but it took me 16 years to forgive myself, to accept myself and redeemed myself again. God gave me a christian husband to help heal the wound inside me. I am not sure if i call it forgiveness but i tried to forget those ugly experiences i had. What i cannot overcome before my husband came into my life is forgiveness to myself. I see me as a dirty and filthy woman. My self-esteem is very low and i lost my self confidence in everything. Praise God, He gave me my husband, my first and only boyfriend before i got married. He taught me how to TRUST men again, because this is where i am really struggling. He made me realized that it is not my fault why i was molested. Now i am living life to the full with my 3 girls. I hope your story will inspire more women like me, like us with similar experiences. God is really a healer and a great comforter.

I decided to forgive them because I wanted to have peace. To be free. To be happy. I was only 12 when this happened I got my peace 8 years after my father died. 2017 we finally got the justice my family deserve. I'm a living example that forgiveness is a choice. Indeed! Hearing it on earphones makes it better, more intimate. It did make me focus and understand every words because other sounds were blocked. Its a very nice perspective.

I cried with Ms Joy. Her strength at that time was God’s saying I will not leave you alone my child. I myself is angry on her behalf of what had happened to her, but who am I when she herself have forgiven them. Thank you for your bravery and sharing your story.
