Bit of trivia to add: Justin mentioned the green wal in a bass player magazine interview around 2009. The less pronounced mids lead to him using the original one on all of the 10 000 Days recordings, aside from Wings for Marie part 1+2. The green wal worked well played fingerstyle, he mentioned this track was the first he had recorded without pick. The same article he gave a full layout of his pedal/amp setup inc wiring sequences, which you may find useful for the second part of this vid. Couldnt find a link right now, but it must be posted somewhere. Still have the original mag somewhere in my house so hit me up if you want me to scan it for you.

Paul used an early model of the Ibanez ATK bass as well towards his end in Tool. There are photos and I think a video on KZbin from a live show. Also, the bass has made it on eBay before. The greenburst Wal is an Mk3 model, not an Mk2. He also switched out the Wal electronics on it for the BigBlade electronics. His backup bass actually features a shedua top, and also has a fretless which is the one with the walnut top.
@WhichBass6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the Greenburst as in this interview he says its just a Mk2. It's in German but the translation says "There are now five (Wals). One of them is a fretless bass that I can not actually play (laughs) but if a good bassist ever comes to visit, I can offer him that. Then, in addition to my standard bass - of which I have an exact copy to replace - I have a walnut and a MK-II in green." I agree. I never liked his T Bird tone. It's so dull and boring. He needs a bass with some personality. But then again, he doesn't even play his own parts in the studio so I'm assuming he only barely gives a shit about the bass.

Glad you enjoyed my humour XD Did I get it right in the end? lol.

Also "bassiste" has its stress on the i, so it'd be "bah-SSEE-steh". :)

Which Bass yeah you got it right. Not with the right accent though, but, at that point, any effort is heroic, and deserving of praise. Anyway, I love your humour.

I was never a big fan of tool but that was interesting please make a video about Frank bello (anthrax)
@WhichBass6 жыл бұрын
Tool are a peculiar beast and it's interesting to see how other people make music. I too found his gear and sound a wonder. Franky Boy is on the list John. Watch this space!

@John M Wow, I've never seen anyone say that they don't really like Tool. I like them, but to me, it's always refreshing to see people say they don't like Tool.

is there or will there be one on the humble (or should I say modest?) yet great John Deacon?
@WhichBass6 жыл бұрын
You know you're the first person to suggest John Deacon?! Watch this space, I'll see what I can do.
@OleksiiTheAngry6 жыл бұрын
thanks. I just couldn't help it - he's one of my bass heroes :) We Are The Champions, Jealousy, of course Another One Bites The Dust - the man is a widely underestimated musician!

@WhichBass5 жыл бұрын
Ofc I'll respond John. That's what I'm here for. I haven't looked at Paul Damour so I can't answer for sure. Have a look at this site it may have the answers equipboard.com/pros/paul-d-amour
