Obito's biggest fumble is being part of a narrative that breaks by his mere existence. During part 1, he was indisputably the most powerful shinobi in the world who had a decade long opportunity to grab all the jinchuriki, most if which were children, and call it a day. Instead, he was off fucking around God knows where while his jobber did most of the work. Kishi really should have made it clear that Minato injured him so severely (or damaged his chakra system with that final seal) that he had to take a backseat until he recovered for the war.

I disagree. In terms of who was he most overleveled, you're assuming every other pokemon could be over level 60 when in reality only a few ninjas were. Like we could probably count the kages of their respective nations at at least level 80 and everyone else was lower. But Madara was really a hacked in character with levels above what you could achieve in game. We are talking about a dude who could solo the 9 tails if he wanted too. I would not say kabuto was banking on him so much as looking at itachi as a comparison and saying.. "What the hell have I done" Madara aside from Hashirama was probably the single most powerful shinobi in history. There are reasons why legends spoke of him as a god, he just so happened to be just as strong as the legend. Minato at the time probably could not have taken him on when he was alive. Its not just that he was over leveled. The conclusion: Its not that he was over leveled. He was hacked in by someone who did not realize what the hell they were dealing with. He was so outside the power dynamic that the introduction of him meant you had to deal with a near god in power. And that's what messed kabuto up.

Another note of the auto-pilot is that several of the Edo Tensei told the alliance how to defeat them, which was not necessary as Orochimaru seemed like he could set a silent auto-pilot, but Kabuto was so set on his psychological warfare that he did not care.

Plot retcon. In part 1 (the more grounded series) the edos were meant to be mindless puppets. In part 2, they were given somewhat their own will back, emotions, etc for plot purposes, to create moments, and overall just to be plot devices.

The best strategy would have been for Obito to not have declared a war and just attack the leaf then the cloud. It's as if deep down, Obito wanted to lose, and giving the world a fighting chance was a way to confirm if he truly was on the right path. I think that probably half of the mistakes Kabuto made can be attributed to the writing getting very wonky in the war Arc and not actually it being planned as a flaw for Kabuto. Similar to how Hiruzen, a Character praised for his Intelect, uses the same nature against Guru Guru Zetsu in their 5 Nature clash, instead of choosing the Beneficial Nature which would allow him to easily overcome Guru Guru. Like alot of characters start acting stupidly, because Kishimoto made these weird choices where he was lacking as the author tbh.

Another fumble I think Kabuto did was with the curse marks. The white Zetsus already had nature energy they should be compatible with the curse marks. So if they got the curse mark grafted on them and used it as a last resort before dying a lot of battles would’ve been much harder for the alliance.

Most people who can’t handle nature energy will die. Similar to how people that learn sage mode can turn themselves into stone if they have too much nature energy. But all the white Zetsu should be able to survive due to being cloned from the Gedo statue and having Hashirama cells, since both can handle nature energy just fine.

I guess the big part is Obito running around with his Six Paths of Edo Jinchuuriki like a chicken without a head though the war was never his interest; it was a distraction so he can hunt down Naruto and Bee... who he didn't know unless Kabuto told him it was on some giant turtle so for him to travel not on the right direction is more concerning... I am curious what were his other mistakes. I would assume the bigger fumble is not reclaiming his Sharingan eye from Kakashi. Sure, the Rinnegan gives him buffs and benefits but it just feels like Obito was WAY too strong with both his real eyes back. As for the Madara body, it sadly was Zetsu who somehow without letting him know, gave to Kabuto which just sucks even more in how much I hate Zetsu. But like I said, Kabuto wanted to revive certain people for the mind games. It just feels off that he couldn't do the same with Jiraiya no less Shisui to just gain his powerful Sharingan eyes to assist in his plans. Just weird.

20:04 When has Nagato ever performed better with the rinnegan than what we see after Kabuto takes over? I'm not convinced that Nagato is any worse off being controlled by Kabuto; if anything Kabuto is smarter. Whether it's alive or on edo-auto-pilot, Kabuto does things we don't see from Nagato/Pain like using the chameleon to sneak up and use shinra tensei or some other path's ability. Nagato usually uses rinnegan abilities in ways they're more obviously intended as opposed to making creative high iq plays. The most creative Nagato plays I can think of are bansho tenin into asura path tail blade or preta path grab. He's really more of a Naruto than a Sasuke when it comes to fighting strategy. Naruto thinks he can take Nagato 1v1 because of how much stronger he is than when he fought Pain and actually does fairly well vs the auto-pilot version (People like to say Nagato was helping them, but he literally just tells Naruto attacking the dog is pointless and warns that Itachi is building up chakra in his sharingan. The assistance is not that crazy). After Kabuto takes control Nagato manhandles and locks down Naruto and B, which makes Naruto say that his moves are "out of this world". If Itachi wasn't there it'd be Nagato's single biggest accomplishment. It's a stretch to say Kishimoto is implying Nagato lost because Kabuto is controlling him. He just lost; allegations sustained. Also like you said: you really can't blame Kabuto for what happened with Itachi. There's no way to plan for Itachi getting flipped by Koto and *clapping* Nagato.

There was only one ninja shown to be manually controlled by Kabuto: 2 Tsuchikage. There a 3 modes to the edo tensei: limited control (allowing freedom to the edo tensei targets personality to carry out objectives based on their whims, shown with most targets, to ease kabuto's burden and allow psychological damage; ie. Zabuza, sasori, Dan), auto pilot (shown when kabuto eliminates the personality, shown with zabuza and haku, the hidden cloud sensor) and then manual control (where kabuto takes control of the target, ie. Muu)

Using Madara on the battlefield with the alliances and Kage's was the most logical strategy,using Madara on only Itachi and Sasuke would be overkill and Madara was his big ace in the hole for potentially winning the war, he wouldn't waste it on only two Shinobi.

Let's not forget, Obito's end goal was to save lives by ending the cycle of violence ruling the ninja world. Paradoxially he was prepared to take as many lives as it took to accomplish that goal, but he didn't want to take a single more than what was necessary. Just blowing-up every single battle field with Deidara's C0 would've run contra to that. Yes, when the Ten-tails was revived he started indiscriminately bombing everything, even far away towns, but by that point, he was desperate to break Naruto, because Naruto was at every turn proving him wrong.

Kabuto and obito were never on the same team. Kabuto wasnt interested in the infinite tsukuyomi as that would put him under genjutsu. Obito didnt want kabutos help, but he had the madara edo tensei. It then comes to a point where obito has to join forces or else he has to fight madara. Kabutos original goal was to learn all the secrets of the world, which was why madara was his greatest project. The war was really, kabuto vs obito vs the ninja alliance. Where kabuto and obito were going to fight after the ninja villages were destroyed. To say they were on the same team is a bit of an overreach. They were never on the same team. It was just a temporary truce because they both wanted the villages gone. If kabuto or obito lose, its a benefit for the other. Which is why the help between them was very minimal

If Kabuto had that DNA ability to take other's talents, Kekkei Genkai, and stuff to himself, why did he only take the DNA of those Sound fodder guys? If he had the DNA to summon Madara, the Third Raikage, or even the Hokage, whose DNA Orochimaru had (since the Edo Tensei demands the user to have the DNA of the revived person), couldn't he have assimilated their DNA instead of freakin Tayuya, Jirobo, etc? Can you just imagine Kabuto with Rinnegan, Wood Style, Susanoo and more? He would be the strongest mf out there. All because the plot didn't want him to take the strong ones' DNA.

Then Dygoknight already made a vid touching on how Obito already had the pieces for summoning ten tails and doing infinite Sukonomi. Writing is the only thing that saved the Shinobi alliance, Moo and Dadara were enough to win right there, the others stronger ninja weren't even necessary,

This is why I hate how the Edo Tensei are indestructible outside of sealing them. Let them be able to regenerate, but if the body is completely destroyed then they should fail to be able to regenerate. That and allowing the Gentle Fist to destroy the seals that keep animated would let the war be more dynamic.

What makes Kabuto's fumble worse is that we know he has access to the 6 Biju, all of which can use their transformations. Why not just send 2 jins each to the companies and had them wipe maps??? Imagine instead of the edo kage, Roshi and Han pull up and they instantly transform into their tailed beast states and drop a nuke on Gaara's company? What are they going to do? Each one of them is at least KCM1 naruto level (if not slightly lower) before transforming. This war would have been over in 15 chapters if Kabuto just sent the Jins in and it's not like the alliance could take the tailed beasts back either since they would have no idea who would be the right people to hold them. They can't just seal the tailed beasts into random ninjas and they would have to have strong enough seals with sealers that won't get immediately fried. The worst part is, he has 4 perfect counters to the sealing paper. Ukitake can coat himself in acid that can melt the paper Han's Boil release can melt the paper Roshi's lava cloak can burn through the paper Yukito's blue flames should also be able to burn through the paper. So if you send Ukitake with Yagura, Han with Fū, and Roshi with Yukito, there is absolutely no chance that the shinobi alliance could have sealed them away. Even with Gaara's sand, 4 out of the 6 Jins can just melt through it and he really doesn't need 4 of them to cook Gaara's company. He really just needs Han and Roshi, 2 KCM1 Naruto level goons to just clean that entire company. Worse comes to worse he just has these guys transform and drop biju bombs on them. Kabuto is the original bag fumbler.

Deidara and 3 white jetsus and and the 3rd mitsukage, the guy with bandages and the guy that hides his presence pretty well, and I would win this war. Summon deidara in the middle of big army, conceal his presence, have the white zetsu distract and blow himself up, and the mummy guy comes back and pick them up and resummom him again elsewhere. And when I add obito teleportation to that combo, it's GGS.

In regarding everything you mentioned with Kabuto utilizing underhanded tactics with poison and bombs is something a shinobi should do to achieve victory at all costs.! I personally feel that the role of Samurai, the daimyo, and the Shogunate not being developed enough severely limits the world-building and makes the idea of "shinobi fighting in an all-out battlefield" really janky IMO. I there's too many powerful characters in condensed battlefields which makes it hard to showcase everyone's maximum potential. I would like to imagne that samurai more or less being the main fodder against the Kabuto's army while the Shinobi focus more on the special-ops side of the war. Like imagine the possible matchups and story angles that was missed out on: -Shogun fighting against past dead Shoguns in samurai sword art type of battles, -Shinobi/Kunoichi from the hidden villages needing to gather intel or provide support to the samurai on the battlefield via their jutsus/Kekkei Genkai, -Creating tension with the Daimyos being in danger.

Itachi at that point was no longer under a contract with Kabuto which is required for a reverse summoning. Kabuto was actively trying to put a new tag in Itachi’s head to bind him again. The better question is why TF he didn’t get Nagato out and save him instead of trying a 3 on 1.

Itachi’s 3T Sharingan genjutsu already no diffed Kurenai (a specialist) genjutsu, and Sasuke’s 3T Sharingan genjutsu crippled C (a sensory and medic specialist). Tsukuyomi, Kotoamatsukami, and Sasuke’s EMS genjutsu are probably the only types of genjutsu powerful enough to do it.

As long as Tsunade AND Sakura drew breath. Any plan that involved poison through either Hanzo or Sasori would have been SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. It took Sakura less than a day to create the antidote and she did it without an ounce of help. That poison would be handled swiftly even if it happened on a platoon’s scale.

the same way they had to write off madara, kishi had to hold the edo tensei war back because the jutsu itself was broken and i partly blame that on the concept of the war itself and the concept of how ninjas work in the naruto world you've got a high emphasis on stealth and shutting off emotions from the beginning of the series but we somehow end up with ninja acting as infantry instead of a giant guerrilla warfare battle and moving edo tensei for psychological attacks when everyone is trained against that

Kabuto could have used Danzo's corpse to infiltrate the allied Shinobi HQ cast Koto on Aoi or Ino's father to relay false information and lead an entire division (either Mifune or Kankuro's division) into a massive ambush with Deidara carpet bombing the battlefield. Once this division is routed they are led into an area covered with mist and are taken out by the seven ninja swordsmen silently. Once he wipes out a division he could have Zetsu retrieve the bodies and bring them back via edo tensei increasing his forces.

The issue is that Kabuto was extremely over confident because he was actually insanely powerful + going crazy from having to control 435346456 consciousnesses and having all of the sound village in his body and mind at the same time. it makes sense why he can't be too rational, although it is also because of the writing.

A little strategy could have gone a long way. He didnt even need chakra from Obito's tailed beats for Nagato. He could have used Ginkaku and Shinkaku. He had so many unique abilities at his disposal, he should have focused on using a few Edos to take down squad by squad until the entire battle field was cleared. Heck dont even bring out Diedara from the start, instead have Itachi and Nagato start clearing platoons and once all the back up arrives just summon Diedara and C0 gg. All your Edos will regenerate and 99% of the enemies will die. The few that are even able to survive get wipes out by surpise Hanzo/Sasori poison bomb

Raikage was 50/50 with only ribcage. Onoki caught him tired, he gets one tapped by Amaterasu. So does Mei, Kakashi is a joke, Sakura is a Amaterasu victim and Naruto can't do shit against Genjutsu, Amaterasu, V4 Susanoo spam and flame control.

So itachi has the ability to plant a genjustu in somebody else's eyes right, is the pre requisite for this to absorb a high level jutsu with his susano, or else why wouldn't he use it more, like he obviously learns to seal chalkra in his susano sword, he does it to absorb the altered curse seal in Sasuke then uses the chalkra he seals away to plant the agenjutsu into Sasuke's head do you think these two abilities are actually related??, because as far as I know Sasukes Ms was the ability to seal jutsu with susano, was just wondering if you thought his sharingan could also do something with the chalkra he steals???
